I really like this progress but I think the skin looks like clay. Not sure how you should go about fixing that though... How about giving us you new concept sketch? Looking forward to seeing what you are planning to do now.

10 October 2005, 09:57 PM

dinodog_Jr thanx mate, i think ill draw the sketch tmorrow...for now its all in my head..arrghh the voiceeessss... hehe

gardogg fixin the clay effect is easy. ill apply the specular map..but till next week im still limited to my poor 256 mbram..and next week...a 1 gb..mmmmthe diffeeeereeenceee

10 October 2005, 10:00 PM (

well here is a nutty concept..Odin has a wolflike shoulder armour...and he gets killed by a wolf in the it kinda looks like a rat

10 October 2005, 10:05 PM (

well needs a few tweaks but there it is

10 October 2005, 04:15 AM
Nothing to crit about the wolf head... really good...

I find just the form little odd with the thin strap (a little too broad) of the stringcourse on the eye which seems to make a turning above the eye, the only point which disturb me...

...for the remaining... IS PERFECT  :scream: :bounce:

10 October 2005, 06:21 AM

Thats hella ace! Looks just like formed silver. And not a zbrush in sight!

10 October 2005, 08:01 AM
Great to see you back in action bro. Hope i didn't miss much since i've been busy with other stuff too. Your modeling is looking nice. I'm loving the detailings and texturing and good choice on changing your story. Am a big fan of Norse Mythology. So you better make this one tight, hehehe or else

AWESOME JOB BRO and keep it coming

10 October 2005, 08:54 AM
Tor and Oden... :bounce: this gonna be fun to watch...
I really like the details, the eyepatch and the wolf...

10 October 2005, 09:07 AM
What a modelisation. really impressive and spectacular. Nothing to say more.

10 October 2005, 09:29 AM
Hi, nebezial, great job, I really like it, the modelling is great, but the texturing is just awesome, keep it up, I want to see it finished.

10 October 2005, 10:48 AM
Cool modelling dude.Looks interesting.

10 October 2005, 11:51 AM
I love the fantasy scene you posted for the other contest u where working on...
I saw you decided to use a fantasy style for this contest now, the first concept and the modelling of the "bridge scene" where really spectacular, in my opinion of course ;)
Good luck!

10 October 2005, 10:55 PM
how do you achieve that shiny material together with the one less shiny,,what what do you do,,?
ROKAJ

10 October 2005, 10:59 PM (

well spent most of theday modeling sleipnir and makin sketches for the workin on the charge of norse gods..anyways lots of modelling left on slaipnir, and this texture is just a placeholder, makin him to be a sort of a bull meets horse

10 October 2005, 11:01 PM
umm specular map should do the trick..but u need a glossy ness map also..check the prior post..i basically made an universal bump map which i simply reused

10 October 2005, 11:04 PM
I'l take the simple sphere and rape it with trying material tricks and flicks.
Need to study on this one.Looks cool.
It opens lot of possibilties.
Seeya man.

10 October 2005, 08:22 AM
hehey, cool things goin on here! i loved that beast!

10 October 2005, 09:59 AM
excellent modeling ! this horse is incredible !

10 October 2005, 12:35 PM
ohhh slaipnir... I just love that horse... when we read this "stories" in shool, i didn´t care so much about Tor and Oden and the rest of the gang... I just want to read about slaipnir... haha...

like it... the only critc I have is that the ears looks a bit like a pigsear... otherwise he is on his way to looking good... :wip:

10 October 2005, 03:40 PM (

well an update on sleipnir..teextures will be for now they are mostly placrholders..except the saddle. that stays

10 October 2005, 04:00 PM

Madlight_1988 thankyee

makaron im still workin on thinkin of using raytrace material with a lil translucency on the ears...but then again, i might drop a self illumination map

10 October 2005, 07:09 PM (

well made leg armors..much more to do

10 October 2005, 07:20 PM
omg nebz....

10 October 2005, 10:20 PM
Hehehe, just playing with you bro. I am an archiology dork. i do know a lot about myths and the ancient world. Anyway, can't wait to see the whole composition and the ragnarok idea. Dude, that horse ROCKS. very nice interpretation and design

be back again bro.

10 October 2005, 12:14 AM (

welladded the headpeace...i hava a rather strange way of workin..i gotta texture stuff as i model lol

10 October 2005, 02:34 AM
Interesting change of concept. I love norse myth. Not much to critique atm, keep it up:thumbsup: .

10 October 2005, 03:09 AM
I was kinda suprised that you changed concepts, but I really like this new theme that you're developing (maybe because I love Norse mythology :D ). So far, I think you've nailed the look of Sleipnir (could give the Final Fantasy versions a run for their money).
All the best, nebezial. :)

10 October 2005, 03:13 AM
men spectacular good job! luck with thy rest dude!

10 October 2005, 04:47 AM
wow ! fast update dude! it' seem you come back at full speed!
good job so far , some point i notice is horse fur is too thick ? so it make horse look small , try to lower down scale of each fur , good job !

10 October 2005, 06:15 AM
I noticed that the back leg is too large compared to the front two leg sets. Nice work overall and I agree... that is weird to texture as you model! But at least you then don't have to worry about finding time to texture at the very end (like me!) Oh well... Keep on pumping out the great work. You are like a machine!

10 October 2005, 07:43 AM
It's already marvellous mate... as Monsit... I find fur a little bit too thick... but it's very minor compared to this work... I like that Stjepan... great imagination for great skills... good melting pot

10 October 2005, 10:20 AM
Wow! Great design!
Keep up the fantastic work... I think it is going to be wonderful when you are complete.

10 October 2005, 05:57 PM (

maaan..tried to render odin and sleipnir togther..looks cool..but not enough memory..waaah..ah weell next week..cant wait til then a rough out armor..texture is still stretchy

10 October 2005, 06:05 PM
he have the expression that he will win an easy victory

10 October 2005, 06:14 PM
Stjepan hey cool progress and congratulations for your d&d prize.

Greetings friend and keep it the good work

10 October 2005, 10:55 AM
that's awsome:thumbsup:

10 October 2005, 12:10 PM
Wow, nebezial! Great and fast modeling! And what a brave move, to change concept in the middle of the challenge! But I did not see a concept for this theme, are you going to post one? I agree the "apocalyptic bridge disaster" theme was getting a bit "crowded".

10 October 2005, 02:19 PM
that is cool man... keep it up

10 October 2005, 04:08 PM
This is really cool. Great Modeling on the armor.

10 October 2005, 05:04 PM
Very nice!

Only thing that jumped to my eye is the head armor piece for the warhorse. It looks massive, makes the horse's head too big in porpotion i think. Theres too much "air" between the horse head itself and the edge of armor, if that makes any sense. Comparing from the picture without any armor and the next one with. Or maybe its just me =)

Anyways, very nice modelling and texturing!!

Absolutely class work!

10 October 2005, 05:28 PM
Hey nebezial, your work is absolutely outstanding... i like the horse a lot and much more the armor:thumbsup:

10 October 2005, 07:53 AM
That is realy cool modelling your doing - it looks great.

10 October 2005, 10:58 AM (

Lemog oy stop im honoured

10 October 2005, 03:13 PM
Dude! Awesome design and modeling on your characters. The armour looks fantastic, both the modeling and the shader, great colour and detail. How did you do the wing on the valkyrie's helmate? Is it a texture on a card or did you actually model the feathers? Either way, it looks cool. Keep up the good work. Alexi

10 October 2005, 03:45 PM
I'm too late in your thread dude, JUst one word AWESOME:thumbsup:    Promising concept and you have got very nice modeling and texturing skills, I respect your style Man:bowdown:

Hi Stjepan, great stuff here mate. I liked everything, model, anatomy, texture. Good work mate. keep going

11 November 2005, 02:40 PM
stivo,,what up.

Hey,I like the armour, bit to kičeraja,,bit,,but it is ok,
but the girls hands are kinda not good.u are lecturing me about mesh continuity and
how to keep it clean, this hand has lot of weird wrinkles, soo, and its to strong,,,well,I hope you will spend some more time on it.

You missed the death fall D&D by the hair line.Next time, man, next time.
Atleest some of us here are not quiters(like me)

Ok,enough,I seeya arround you enthusiastic maniac.:)

11 November 2005, 03:03 PM

I cant wait to see more from ya.

11 November 2005, 03:06 PM
alexichabane lol thanx mate, the feathers are just a simple planar map, but the trick is in applying a self illumination map
madshooter thanx gettin real maxfriendly im off to try out some new tricks
calisto thankyeeeee:love:
denverbz thanx man..still requires alot of tweaks
A I R hahhaa u got it me im tweakin more..these are just quick tests..and wrinkles are just a result of sketch modelling. now im into model and texture now tweak later philosophy, and i for one know u were busy...those beers couldnt drink themselves hahahaha, oh and trust me these arms have a real sweet mesh flow..ull see ps saw allosaur..this is gonna be sweet

11 November 2005, 07:29 PM
is she playing a violin ? :P

11 November 2005, 08:00 PM
Very impressive surface work here! Some stretching here and there, but otherwise pretty much perfect. Will be looking forward to see all the new stuff arranged and so forth.

11 November 2005, 08:45 PM (

You make so great character design; It's interessant to see how your 3d work is so near of your 2d one (discover it with m&s).
Congratulations and good luck to assemble the final picture.

11 November 2005, 09:50 AM
I'm always speechless front of your hairs Stjepan... but the rest is also very good... :scream:

11 November 2005, 10:07 AM
Man oh man! Great!

May the Allfather be with you Stjepan!

11 November 2005, 10:42 AM
shemosus thanx mate, still i have pleny more details in plan, and i must fix the stretching i know mate, i just applied it to occupy the space, im goin to tweak uvs as soon as the modelling is complete
Julez4001 the secret to my speed is my workflow, i box out the basic in max make a low level subdivision in zbrush and through the use of move command i work the mesh, and once im sattisfied i take it out to max for unwrapping, since i keep the mesh under 2500 polys it is easy to unwrap, then i subdivide once more and off to zbrush for some tweaks and its done
yunisirees thanx.. still have lots of details in mind
Deankovitch thanx i intend to make a proper workflow tutorial soon..the speed is allways in the workflow
SONIC-X me too my friend, im waiting till next week to get me a full gb ofm ram..cause 256 that i have have been tortured quite enough
THE CLYKE tell me about it..but the difference in my motivation lies in the fact that i learned to unwrap a month ago, and learned to use mental ray renderer
AI-FOUR thanx same to u
authentic hehehe yeah u cant take away comic style from me haaha
Lemog the secret is in something i just realised a few days ago, apply a self ilumination map, so it appears as the hair has a translucency on the strands thet sorta drink the light
sergioKomic sergioo my main maaan..thanx :D

11 November 2005, 11:21 AM
Great concept Stjepan, your skills in 2d as well as 3d are amazing :D i remember watching your M&S challenge in 2d and i think it will as good and better in the spectacular :D Grear modelling and texturing. I ll be sure to follow this thread.

11 November 2005, 11:26 AM
Lemog the secret is in something i just realised a few days ago, apply a self ilumination map, so it appears as the hair has a translucency on the strands thet sorta drink the light

it's very adapted to your style... congrats Stjepan :buttrock:

11 November 2005, 11:26 AM
That's one really nice looking visualization of Oddin. I like the pose too. :)

11 November 2005, 12:39 PM
The good character! Excellent modelling

11 November 2005, 06:44 PM
You are pervert.

this bearded guy looks amazing stivo, honest,
the crown,,his hands, beard, man,,only,i'd change the armour,,that one is like one level or two under the whole thing.

Keep it edgy and wedgy hahaha.

11 November 2005, 09:40 AM
Agamemnwn thanx mate, allthough tmost of the textures are just placeholders, my philosophy here is..make it all and then tweak it all
Lemog hahha u noticed eh..yeah i ye became a hge light freak
DimitrisLiatsos thanx man, im tryin not to go too far with it
Sergey Banityuk thanx mate

A I R not just the armor the hair texture is stretching too, but ill model everything first and the with the time i have left ill be tweaking it all

11 November 2005, 09:57 AM
wow....Very Cool, Outstanding....Keep em up pal:thumbsup:

11 November 2005, 12:17 PM

me want to see the full composition mate. Post it....POST IT :bounce:

11 November 2005, 09:17 PM
wow man . Thew hair is spectacular like the you made that hair?

11 November 2005, 09:20 PM
Man You Work Is Very Interesting And Impact Good

11 November 2005, 06:48 AM
THE CLYKE tell me about it..but the difference in my motivation lies in the fact that i learned to unwrap a month ago, and learned to use mental ray renderer

i find mental ray cool...but you have more control and less render time if you plan lighting and texturing and make a software render...mentle ray can give you some weird images if you don't know how to ues it which you clearly know what the hell your doing dude.

and texturing..woe steller......keep going man

good luck

11 November 2005, 07:28 AM
 Your Odin is just amazing...and this hair is stunning:thumbsup: . Congrats!

11 November 2005, 09:39 AM
Waouw, man i really like your style!!:D Good job.

11 November 2005, 01:43 PM

11 November 2005, 02:44 PM (

well just a quick hair test for odin

Can you explain how you did the hair?
Texture maps on Polys, if so can you show te texture (with a sample label on top of course.)

11 November 2005, 05:43 PM
Very good hair and overall textures:thumbsup:

11 November 2005, 06:19 PM

Lemog..clap clap...hahaha awesome man
adel3d thanx man
jddog thanx mate
Arc80 yo archie..i allready posted
melkao well herre it is
johnny3d thanx
THE CLYKE i know what u first i never even touched mental ray..but then again then i didnt know how to unwrap..but now that i do i decided to figure it out, mental ray is great but it requires a getting used to time with it, after that u re good
daWinky lol and to think i just slapped the texture on a cylinder
tuck thanx man u too
alfy hahha well once i figured out the logics of it all it is easy
Julez4001 well i made a short explanation
(o)ne thamnx man
beelow hehe thanx

well anyways as promised, here is the trick to hair..its simple..i use the same brushes i described in my fur tut, and the trick here is in applying the bump map as specular and glossyness andplaying with output, oh and there is a cool effect that happens when u apply self illumination map and activate final gather..did it also on thors antlers

11 November 2005, 11:49 AM
nice anatomy !
Keepup the great work !

11 November 2005, 11:50 AM
Thanks Stjepan... I must try that very soon... that appear very easy and efficient... good tips

11 November 2005, 01:32 PM
hey nebeziel, everything s cool to me,except the veins on the torso and the body,i dont think that ther are like that,a bit weird,by the way, excellent job on this!

11 November 2005, 01:57 PM
Great work and cool concept, yours models are really awsome, some of the better human anatomy i've seen for a while :-

keep it up hehe

and thx for the tips about the hair

11 November 2005, 03:52 PM
wow! Now that is amazingly spectacular so far... my congrats!

I can only say now that you could try to give more red to the skin colors... that would make them more live... but still, I love you work!
waiting for more:applause:

11 November 2005, 04:53 PM
very nice anatomy, my only comment is that the chest vains look more like wrinkles than blood vessels.

11 November 2005, 05:25 PM
Great expressions, great texturing, great techniques:thumbsup:

11 November 2005, 06:22 PM
What now,,where are the updates dude.

Was going on.

Dont stall.

11 November 2005, 11:23 PM (

well here is an update on thor, just puttin it all together for now tomoprrow ill finish the shader for the skin and the bump map is basically just a sketch for now, so ill edit the weird veins

11 November 2005, 03:30 AM
That looks really cool. I would suggest that the muscle that is very defined above the knee be made less defined because his pants would not reveal that much definition underneath.

11 November 2005, 07:20 AM
This is creat modelling ,nice update.

11 November 2005, 08:58 AM
maurodelia thanx still needs tweaks, like the lovehandles and stuff lol
Lemog no prob, i just realised how useful the self illumination maps are..they are in a way the tool to design the light on a greater level
Madlight_1988 tell me about it, but the bump map is mostly a sketch for now, it will be tweaked
Goul thanx man, allthough thee are still many issues that i might fix today
arturro i know what u mean, but also he is illuminated with a bluish light for now...why? me lol but u r right
SNoWs they do indeed hahaha
Maxter thanx man
A I R im painting the central choir inside a church..and wokin on spectacular..but ill make it..and maybe even 2d
gardogg thanx man u r right ill fix it
SONIC-X thanx

11 November 2005, 04:44 PM

11 November 2005, 06:02 PM
Hey stiv'n,Your Thor guy looks little green man.try to remove this wax effect a bit.
Keep clean and sharp above all.
Seeya man.

11 November 2005, 09:10 PM
melkao..umm i make a hair texture and stick it on a plane
A I R i know that..but i wont be doin those tweaks untill i get still at lindas here...and this is 256 the trial renders just take too long..and next week im gwttin me a gb then i can really get whoopin:beer:

11 November 2005, 09:14 PM (

11 November 2005, 10:14 AM
Now,this is stylish drawing of Odin dude.

Check it.

11 November 2005, 11:06 AM

A I R hahah u read my mind..saw it lol
sergioKomic lol thanx gonna try somethin tonight:D

11 November 2005, 10:28 PM
love the detail man .. really Great work on the modelling and texturing... but i think the color of the skin make it like died one ... anyway
all my best wishes for u

11 November 2005, 09:26 AM
i know what u mean..but i had no time to deal with it for now..basically i ll just make the control layer reddish, and that will fix it

11 November 2005, 10:19 AM
Wow, Nebs, awesome!!! Hey, you're only supposed to be kick a** in 2D! :scream: Great stuff, dude...looking forward to that beautiful final image!

Good sense of directional motion there. The characters feel a little out of place - cut'n'paste sort of - right now, but I'm pretty sure that's just a temporary thing. The only real crit would be that the overall colour palette feels a bit too cold at the moment, but otherwise it's looking spankin' good.

11 November 2005, 10:20 PM
hehe i know what u mean..this is jus a bundle of separate renders pasted together in photoshop im takin a break now till i get me ram at thursday..and goin nuts

11 November 2005, 03:03 PM (

11 November 2005, 03:18 PM
Wow, nebz, this is an amazing thread! I love that your style is so unique ~ I can always tell your work! The one tiny crit is that the skin seems so cold! I don't know if this is part of the theme of the piece, but in some cases the skin seems a bit gray. But holy mackerel, your modeling / concept rocks!  Awesome work!!! :buttrock:

Cheers, :)

11 November 2005, 03:33 PM

thanx, though neither the lightnind nor the face will remain..this is justa test for shader

11 November 2005, 08:48 PM
Lovely-looking Valkyrie you have there (terrific job with the skin texture); only elements that could be improved are the eyebrows (they look kinda "patched" in some areas) and the irises of the eyes (but you might've not gotten that far yet).

Really looking spectacular, nebezial.

11 November 2005, 03:39 AM
its been awhile neb~looks great buddy!was her left eyebrow been purposely made that way?would it be better if her lips color is alil softer/lighter?just a suggestion:)i'm looking forward to se the final product!

11 November 2005, 03:52 AM

12 December 2005, 10:31 AM
Hi nebezial

your modeling is superb, but there are a few things that would enhance the picture.
I would tighten the reins to be more rubber like on the horse so the grip looks stronger,
I would fade the birds more and blur their wing tips, creates movement. I feel the Thor
character with the hammer has a better facial expresion so I would bring him to the foreground, the woman I would put in the middle and tighten her grip on the sword,
fingers look weak. I would use a slightly brighter gloabl illumination on all 3 characters, Its only my opinion, overall you have done a great job and put in a huge amount of work Im sure, it shows.................

good luck in the final!
Master ^ Servant

12 December 2005, 04:08 PM
very cool work neb' specially that background rocks! i'm agree with patina 4 the fadin of the birds.. there's a horse under thor? it looks like he was ridin'... maybe open more the left hand...and it could be cool a fadin' from the front to the back between the 3 characters but in any case theres a very good and dynamic job! congrats ..and waitin for the final one!

Neb! Congrats on racking up IMAGE OF THE MONTH in the latest 3D World! I was stoked to see your work in there... you had me laughing when they quoted you as having 256 MB of RAM on your system :)

Maybe now would be a good time to invest in some more RAM cause youre probably going to be asked for more work with that much exposure. You rock!:buttrock:
