09 September 2005, 11:38 PM (

This is the first idea. I've just sketched the first thing came to my mind. Let me know what you think? Is it cliche or has a chance to give it a shot?

09 September 2005, 12:06 AM

Hey Emerah!
Glad to see you have entered the contest! Very strong start so far!
There is a lot of action, all though you may want to pull the camera back to show more of where the plane will impact for dramatic effect.

09 September 2005, 06:04 AM
cool start :)

09 September 2005, 06:49 AM
wow, this is really looking dynamic. i really love the reflections on the buildings.

09 September 2005, 07:27 AM
Fantastic dynamic sketch!!

The warm colours of the meteor and the faces against the blues of the buildings and sky. Works great!

09 September 2005, 08:55 AM
hello there and welcome to this challenge! I expect great art from u, and u already did some I see... awesome dynamics and expression, and its only a sketch! I think this could be spectacular enough (knowing ur skills) but I wouldnt mind if u put some other ideas down.. if not for the challenge, do it for us :D I really love watching ur stuff.

09 September 2005, 09:01 AM
I think ıt s not a meteor ıt s a boeing 747 :scream: :bounce:

mıllet meteor zannedıyoda ben ucak dıyorum bakalım ne cıkcak :)

09 September 2005, 09:07 AM
Great dynamics, impressive so far. Perhaps if the plane were a bit closer, and angled so you could see a little more of it? Just an idea.

09 September 2005, 09:13 AM
Some nice names joining this challenge :) great start, good luck!

09 September 2005, 10:28 AM
um.... ooops.

Sorry... now i look at it again, i can't belive i didn't see it as a plane.

I still think it's a fab sketch though!! :)

09 September 2005, 10:36 AM
I wouldn't want to be on that street :scream:

One of the best sketches I've seen so far. Go for it!

09 September 2005, 10:40 AM

sh@ke - thanks. Glad you liked
James Kei - Hey man! What's up? How's it going in Massive Black? Hope you're allright. Yea, i was thinking of pulling the camera far back to push the drama up. Thanks for the reply man. See you.
Squibbit - Thanks

09 September 2005, 10:43 AM
man thats brilliant.. i was thinking of doing something similiar.... its powerful cos when things like this occur your mind always starts wondering what it would be like at that very split second if you were in that situation.... scary!..good luck...use of color on concept is great

09 September 2005, 10:44 AM

Holy cow man. You're natural at coming up with something spectacular. Great idea keep it up. Love your sketches.

09 September 2005, 06:57 PM
Wow, this is already looking impressive as it is. I think the plane could use a couple of falling chunks but other then that it coming along great. Keep up the good work!

09 September 2005, 07:03 PM
very cool concept!!I like it.:bounce:
nice sketch too.

09 September 2005, 07:07 PM

09 September 2005, 07:40 PM
Wow, just amazing already! Great dynamic and colors

09 September 2005, 07:51 PM
Oh man:eek: What was the pilot thinking about in that moment? Im sure he can see a penny on the ground:) This work has power, good luck!!

09 September 2005, 08:01 PM
Briliant idea for something spectacular, Damn, thats going to cause huge destruction, would be beautifull to see thousands of glass splashes!:D quite evocative to the 11 September, good start, best of Luck, and loads of fun painting that... oh Great colors!

09 September 2005, 08:14 PM
Simple and straight to the point, I wish I was able to be this good at this early stage! KUDOS!

09 September 2005, 09:15 PM

09 September 2005, 09:53 PM
You have definately grasped the theme. This image draws on several emotions. Quite a powerful piece. Good luck with it.

09 September 2005, 10:45 PM
I like that you have gave an impression of scale good stuff and goodd luck with your entry, holla!

09 September 2005, 11:39 PM
Interesting picture. Great facial expressions.

09 September 2005, 11:49 PM
nowadays you cant put an airplane anywhere near a building without someone taking offence to it... But I like your piece. Its got great dynamics and beautifull color gradients. I think the peoples expressions, and the depth of many many traffic lights down the street will realy push this image to the max. You may put some thoughts into making the buildings look distinctly different from the WTC and deffintly give them different window styles from each other.

Looking realy good! Im deffinetly bookmarking this one

09 September 2005, 12:11 AM
Fantastic point of view, fits the theme very well.
Good luck.

09 September 2005, 12:56 AM
Whats spectacular about a plane falling on people?

09 September 2005, 06:08 AM
iyi sanlar emrah ,bol good lucklar :D

09 September 2005, 06:28 AM
Very nice. The Facial Expressions are very good.just a suggestion perhapes the plane can be coming in on a bit more of an angle instead straight down or did you want it so like the plane hit something and it is a detached cockpit fall to the streets below. Otherwise very nice concept.
Crazy Carl

09 September 2005, 07:42 AM
wow! Realy spectacular... Very profesional sketch! Good luck!

09 September 2005, 08:35 AM
Even I don't think it's really original, you've got something already spectacular.
Great, great composition

09 September 2005, 08:51 AM
Wow, well I have to knock you on the all around idea, just a plane crashing in the city. Not a small event jst seems a bit obvious or too easy. BUT DAMN if the execution isnt just INCREDIBLE. I mean the energy in that initial sketch has so much impact at first glance it's incredible. Definitely spectacular imagery but might wanna push the limits on the initial idea a bit more. But hey, maybe Im a buffoon and you should go with it. The piece warrants finishing for sure even if not for this challenge.

09 September 2005, 09:14 AM
Amazing colours - I can feel that fire! ^_~ Love the persprective too, full of motion - no crits as yet, but I can't wait to see this piece develop.

09 September 2005, 09:28 AM
Emrah! Much love and good luck! Great sketch so far!

09 September 2005, 12:08 PM
Very very good star!! wwoouuaawww! i like that!:scream:

09 September 2005, 02:09 PM
okay that's positively wicked! Seen some of your older works and if you do as well with this one.. so much talent in this contest.

09 September 2005, 02:13 PM
wildekyote - Thanks man. Appreciated.
beelow - Thank you
pushav - Thanks
CodeNothing - Thanks for your comments. You're right. It must not look like 9/11. I need to capture the feel of an accident. Very hard task but i'll see it after doing some more sketches.
Koekebakker - Thanks
dioxide - ...
ercingunduz - Tesekkurler
Star_Searcher_2103 - Thanks, yea i'll draw it from another angle. The plane will come directly towards the viewer. Much more dynamism!
Hof - Thanks
authentic - Yea, it's not very original but i'll try to make it.
feeesh - Hey man, thanks for your comment. You're right that the theme is not so original. But i'll try to make it more interesting in my future sketches. I may change the plane with an UFO, or some strange vehicle. I don't know. We'll see.
Elsie - Thanks
teyekanik - Hey Matt! What's up man! I hope you're doing alright. Take care
Fiolka Alexandre - Thanks

09 September 2005, 03:36 PM
OMG, I just love the WIP you have here ...really dynamic....and exciting image indeed

09 September 2005, 03:59 PM

09 September 2005, 04:04 PM
As said above i think it is a great piece already. And its already halfway there! doesnt need too much work!.
I too love the reflections in the buildings.
great dynamic composition and sense of movement.
(and i dont know planes but i think that is one. dunno bout a boeing or nothing tho...??)
shot mate.

09 September 2005, 04:08 PM
I can't wait to see the next post!

09 September 2005, 04:29 PM
One of my favourites so far :D Good motion! Best of luck for ya :)

09 September 2005, 07:36 PM
Very intense. Reminds me of 9/11 keep it up!

09 September 2005, 07:49 PM
eyvah eyvah basladık gene 9/11 sakat olm olayı bu yone cekmemek lazım neyse keep going

09 September 2005, 12:17 AM (

Hey all,

Actually, the first image came to my mind was this. I though about a plane crash in the city. Plane goes through the streets sidewards and crashes into a building. (This is an accident, not a terrorist attack) :) And i wanted to capture the very first moment of people see the plane an panics. I don't know if i captured it well but here you go. Oh and it's an Airbus A380. hahaha :) I love drawing!

09 September 2005, 01:32 AM
Definitely spectacular. A photographer would give their right arm for an image like that.

09 September 2005, 02:28 AM
now thats more like it~u've conveyed spectacular spectacularly through this piece.breathing taking:thumbsup:

09 September 2005, 02:32 AM
wow man.. amazinggg.. best luck.. c ya !

09 September 2005, 03:45 AM
I really like this second concept better than the first. More of the plane and surrounding chaos definately makes the image more Spectacular! :)

09 September 2005, 04:53 AM
Nice touch and nice compo, definitly loving it!

09 September 2005, 05:06 AM
whoops, you're suddenly my number one contestant with this latest pic

09 September 2005, 05:12 AM
WOW!!!:bounce: Better! I like it. I think it does work with the plane, don't change that. but it's up to you. I don't know what would better but then again i'm kinda the plane nut.

09 September 2005, 05:29 AM
i come back again, this pic is right on the topic, amazing, it makes me wanna
compete! Haha, i just wanna look at it and wonder about all the detail , scale and
everything;the colors rock.
I'd almost put the plain skecth in top 3 , but I know you're going to inspire others
to new heights with this piece so I don't know :)
The frightened people, the choice of buildings, all is just great

09 September 2005, 05:40 AM
real spectacular!:bounce: I love it.

09 September 2005, 05:47 AM
I smell the doom and destruction.

09 September 2005, 05:56 AM
nice colors emrah... maybe you should be increase scale of the plane It s too small now...Good shot... pilot is very talented

09 September 2005, 06:00 AM
I like the first idea. It focuses on the horror of the situation established through the nearby character. Perhaps if you combine the close shot of the character with the second concept you'll have a winner. A wing needs to be breaking off in that second concept. Goodluck!

09 September 2005, 07:02 AM
This is fab! It makes me think of the crash of the dropship in Aliens. Hurtling toward camera... unstoppable! It just gets bigger and bigger..... Real drama! :)

James Kei
09 September 2005, 07:20 AM
Wow Emerah!
I really like the new version!

Very scary image, it's sort of a reflection on current events.

09 September 2005, 07:28 AM
wow Spetacular!!! This is amazing, really great work here, I love the perspective. Great work!

09 September 2005, 07:32 AM
Looking sweetas - I love the little chap in the road, he looks like hes about to drop to his knees screaming 'NNNNOOOOOooooo' shawshank styleee at which point the heavens ope and the rains comes down in sheets... lovely!

09 September 2005, 07:34 AM
Nice to see you participating in this challenge and your concept sketch is impressive.
Very promising start. Good luck, mate!!!

09 September 2005, 08:19 AM
Aaaah... now i can really tell that it's a plane (sorry for muddling for a meteor!)... I much prefer this composition and the perspective.

Have you thought about breaking the plane up a little? Maybe one wing breaking away from the fuselage?

09 September 2005, 08:24 AM
Man GREAT work but the wing shouldn't be scratched. It should be broken!!! Think again!!!:)

09 September 2005, 08:27 AM
wow, good concept. i tihnk this is what spectacular means..

<tr>kolay gelsin. dereceye girersin inşallah<tr>

09 September 2005, 09:03 AM
Excellent work so far.

09 September 2005, 09:29 AM
Oh!! it's grate idea and exciting . I hope to see more soon.
sorry ! I'm not well in english.:)

09 September 2005, 09:44 AM
awesome sketch man. you seem to already have your concept perfectly pictured in your mind, as well as in your execution. keep rockin'!

09 September 2005, 10:08 AM
I soiled my pants! Scaaary scene :> Movement here rocks! I'm not sure if this is something I would call spectacular but damn close to it :D

09 September 2005, 12:07 PM
Stevethomas - Thanks alot man. Yea, i would give my arm too for a shot like that :)
Sh@ke - Thanks man. I hope it's spectacular enough :)
Gra7 - Thanks alot!
Annemee - Thank you. Yea, it's better like this now. I'll try to make the shot better. Maybe i can pull the camera down a bit and make the plane larger. We'll see
beelow - Thanks man
Squibbit - Thanks alot Squib, i'm wathching your thread also and you're going great.
Star_Searcher_2103 - Thanks for your reply. Yea, i think i'm going to stick with the plane.
xric7 - Thanks for your comment
Queensoul - Yea, i do too.:)
-tolga- - Thanks tolga. I'll keep that in mind for my next sketches. Thanks for the crit bro.
Nichod - Hey, thanks for your comments man! You have some nice points. I'll keep them in mind. A broken wing could add some doomish atmosphere. Thanks for the idea.
Poshspice - Hey posh. Thanks for dropping by. Yea, i wanted to make the plane fast and unstoppable. It's going to crach into some building atlast though. No chance :)
James Kei - Hey James! Thanks for your reply man! I didn't want it to seem like a terrorist attack. Cause it's an accident. Hope people don't get it wrong :)
enialadam - Thanks alot
luciferous - HAHA! thanks. Nice point:)
Velinov - Hey man! Thanks for dropping by. Good luck to you too!
duddlebug - Hehe, thanks. Yea, i think i can brake apart the plane a bit. I'll see what i can do.
Nachev - Thanks man. Scratching wing makes it more specacular i think. But i'll keep your comment in mind.
meykurt - tesekkur ederim
JMcWilliams - thanks alot
createmai - thanks for dropping by and leaving comment.
ahbeejieh - thanks, i'm going to make some slight changes in the sketch. Hope i can get a better angle.
ElFuego - Thanks. I hope it will be spectacular when i finish it.

Thanks all for your replies again. I'll be doing some more sketches about this subject. I'll pull the camera down a bit and make plane larger. Also i'll brake it apart a bit.

See you soon

09 September 2005, 12:08 PM
zomfg! that's spectacular! :O

09 September 2005, 12:48 PM
Man, before I start my spectacular vision I thought on a image like the last of yours, I swear it!:surprised Well, my vision was a little different. An airplane between two buildings and somebody looking at the plane above them.

Anyway, good job!!

09 September 2005, 01:23 PM looks very fine tiill now...great perpective...and terror feeling...

09 September 2005, 04:24 PM
Definitely spectacular. A photographer would give their right arm for an image like that.

That'd be the LETF arm in this case, at LEAST! :)
argh, such cool images at such an early time... delicious! :scream:

09 September 2005, 04:48 PM
WOW! great stuff man, I particular like how you use very saturated colors in you'r concepts. Gives a very "fresh" look to it. Keep it up!

09 September 2005, 05:21 PM
thats great... the way to go i think.... maybe there can be some added emotion with a little girl in the middle of th road and someone trying to save her just as a subtle side thing..... thats crap and cliche but hey you know what i mean....push it push it push it!

09 September 2005, 05:46 PM
Shocking concept, I like it. Looking forward...

09 September 2005, 06:20 PM
Hey Man,

This is my first contest, and first post.

I think your sketch is already looking amazing.

The newest one is of much better perspective, and I get a much clearer idea of whats happening.

I love the sketchyness of the people, and how they are just frozen with shock.

This is going to be fun, I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Keep up the good work, and Good luck!

I need to get in gear and get something put up, it's really motivating to see what everyone is putting up already.

09 September 2005, 06:29 PM
wow amazing!! I really like your works

Good luck~

09 September 2005, 07:10 PM
wow! great work! yeah i think u captured the moment :scream:

09 September 2005, 08:03 PM
This is looking just wonderful. It's such a dynamic scene and it's somewhat eerie seeing this concept seeing how in 3 days it'll be the 4th anniversary of the WTC attacks. Good luck!

09 September 2005, 08:06 PM
looks familiar... & very dynamic, great job!!

09 September 2005, 08:35 PM
yes bro yes....
this composition is really much more flexable and energetic.
go on bro...

09 September 2005, 09:42 PM
The saturation of you colors boosts this scene ++++. originally you posted whether this idea may be too cliche. I personally think it is, but alot of things battles...wizards....ancient kungfu masters...., but it really relies on the execution of the idea. And in this case.......excellent execution. This scene is really terrifying!

09 September 2005, 09:42 PM
Holy wow, awesome. Your entry just screams energy.

09 September 2005, 11:36 PM
Yeah! you are on fire:twisted: Great Shot.

09 September 2005, 12:50 AM
Ranath - Thanks
Gonzalo Golpe - Hey man, thanks for the reply. Well, this isn't a complicated theme so everybody can think of. But i'll try to catch the dynamism, movement and fear in my image. I'll try to make the image more interesting. Hope i can succeed
metacool - Thanks man. I don't want to capture a "terror" feel in the image though.
coCoKNIght - Thanks for droppign by
am7 - Hey, thanks. Yea, my colors are generally very very saturated. Glad you like :)
W!L - Hey, thank you for your comment. Well, i don't wanna push the image to different meanings. I just want to focus on the plane and it's movement on the street. Other elements will make the image too busy.
sergage - thanks!
Mr. Bobizzll - Welcome! Thanks for your comment. Glad you liked the idea and the sketch. I'm going to post more soon
Naabie - Thank you. Appreciated.
ori@r.a.m - Thanks. Glad you liked
teknotek83 - Hey thanks. Oh yea! It's September 11th 3 days later
arkinet - thanks
anil6tr - thanks bro. glad you liked
KITTNLITTER - Thanks, well i know the idea is cliche but as i said before i just want to focus on this extraordinary event and the energy in the scene. I wanted to stay away from all sci-fi and fantasy stuff. Pure reality :) I hope people like this idea.
Titanix-Avalon - Thanks. I hope it is :)
renderwhite - Thanks

I'm thinking on how i can make this scene better and more energetic. I'm thinking of pulling the camera to the shoulder level and make the image vertical. What do you think about this? Horizontal or Vertical? It's hard to decide.

09 September 2005, 12:55 AM
I have suggestion for you. Why dont u make plane in more horizontal position? And let him crash its wing into buildings between. You will get more crash-bum-bag effect :]

09 September 2005, 01:33 AM
the vertical Gives a lot of scale up and down and can be more action pact, horizontal is more landscapish if you know what I mean, those are just guidlines that I follow! If you can pull off this plane crash horizontally do it, my opinion just do both and see what you will get! Be back soon, holla!

09 September 2005, 02:03 AM
this is going to kick ass Em. I like the 2nd concept better because there is more to see. Maybe the composition could be cropped in a little more to frame the action. The sunlight you got is awesome. GOGOGOGO!

09 September 2005, 02:04 AM
I agree. tilt the plane. Not so much as being horizontal but more of and angle. Personally i think that they way you have the pic now, leave it at a vertical. but depending on how much you change the angle of the plane will determine how the pic should be portraied, you know. Also do add more mayhem in the background.

09 September 2005, 06:13 AM
Hey. I was planning on registering for this forum pretty soon, but seeing this just drove me to do so immediately. I had to tell you how awesome this picture looks like it's going to be/already is.

I love the smoke trail showing the plane's descent around the block and into the valley between buildings. I especially love the anticipation expressed by the entire scene as a whole. It's in the faces and postures of the characters, the break lights of the cars, and the friction under the scraping wing tip as it just begins to touch ground. It almost looks as if there's even a wind cushion already impacting the characters just seconds before the plane delivers the silencing blow.

I personally wouldn't make the plane horizontal or do anything more to increase the amount of destruction already in the scene. Any such effort puts at risk that wonderful anticipation you have already built. I cant imagine how awesome this is going to look with even more detail. As a newbie to digital art it's quite inspiring to see that much detail in a concept sketch.

09 September 2005, 11:05 AM
ur sketches r amazing man! :O post more post more!

09 September 2005, 12:43 PM
OmeN2501 - I'm thinking of it but sidewards is much more spectacular i think. I'll do some more sketches about it.
beelow - Hey, thanks for the suggestion. I'll try both.
teyekanik - Hey matt! thanks man. I' working on some more camera angles at the moment. I hope i'll capture the best angle.
Star_Searcher_2103 - Thanks man. Nice suggestions. I'll try
SalmonGod - Thanks alot and Welcome! I really appreciate your comments and suggestions
NinjaASSN - Thanks bro!

09 September 2005, 01:30 PM
Trully amazing!

09 September 2005, 02:10 PM
really impressive emrah !

Good angle !

colors are very good and compo too !

hope your pilot is good ? lol

French jedi

in valiant heart nothing is impossible!

My master an Servants

09 September 2005, 02:25 PM
damn man, I didn't even join the challenge yet, got here to see ohter entries the very first time, 'cause I didn't want to be influenced by ohter's work, and I see you have already started with a concept somewhat similar to what I managed to think just yesterday!! :scream:

Well, I'll see what I can do about it...:D

in the meantime, congratulation, it's coming already very interesting!

09 September 2005, 08:08 PM
Wow! that is a fricking ace sketch - really captures the moment, and the colours are, well - spectacular!
I think the plane would be a bit more beaten up at that stage - piloting a plane to fit sideways down a street aint exactly easy....

Keep up the goodness!

09 September 2005, 08:17 PM
nice concept. It's related or inspired in the Bin Laden job?

09 September 2005, 09:30 PM
wwoowww!!! ellerine saglik harika gorunuyor! Gerceklik kalitesi de dehsetengiz dogrusu... Harika bir seyler cikicak gibi ;)

Eric_Cartman - thanks
stefuse - Thanks man. Appreciated.
Aradiael - Thanks alot. Yea, it's not complex idea. Everybody can think of it but my goal is to capture the ultimate dynamism and panic feeling.
Andy H - Hey thanks for dropping by. Yea you're right, flying sideways is hard. Thats why this image will be spectacular :)
Ducklator - Please read my explanations. This scene is not related with a terrorist attack.
Silveraxe - Tesekkur ederim

09 September 2005, 08:08 AM
WHoah that does look spectacular.

Maybe the captian of the plane thought he saw a drive-thru ?

09 September 2005, 04:47 PM
Ducklator - Please read my explanations. This scene is not related with a terrorist attack.

c'mon man, I was joking :) by the way, nice concept!!

09 September 2005, 04:54 PM

When someone looks at art, they see what they choose to see. For many in the USA this means that when a plane is seen in a crashing way, it will always hit close to home and the first thing to come to mind will be the events of 9/11. So as duck said, it gives off that initial feeling. Which in all regards is quite powerful as the imagery for those that have made the decision to interpret that way will feel quite a powerful and indeed spectacular view from the image. It may be completely unrelated, but to an individual who walks into a gallery, without reading the title, the concept or knowing the artist... all that remains is the work, and the viewers mind. And that mind has the beauty of seeing the work in a personal way, no matter what was intended... much like the cryptography of poetry. Keep up the great work, I look forward to seeing where you go with whatever idea you hold on to.

09 September 2005, 07:47 PM
OOh yeah, I love the latest concept. It's definitely a great one to continue with. I was thinking actually, if the composition could be a bit larger vertically, to showcase the rest of the plane, as well as the tall sky scrappers.

Great job so far!

09 September 2005, 09:25 PM
KOryH - Hi koryh! Thanks for dropping by. Heh, yea...he's trying hard not to crash the plane. Talented pilot :)
Ducklator - Thanks ;)
p4b10 - Hey pablo! Thanks for dropping by man! I saw your first sketch and i think it's awesome. Keep rocking!
Shadow Seraph - Thank for your comments. You're totally right. Everybody can see whatever they want to see in this image. But i need to tell my purpose for doing this artwork. It's name is "plane crash" not "terrorist attack". There is a huge difference. I can't prevent people thinking that this is a terrorist attack scene. Maybe i don't need to. Cause i'll try to give some clues that this is an accident. The pilot is trying very hard to keep the plane up and there will be some other clues too. It's all up to the artist to capture the any feeling that he/she wants. I hope i can capture the right feeling in the final image. Thanks again.
bao - Thank you. Yea, right spot! I'm working on a horizontally larger sketch. It has more space and more sky. Gonna be good i hope :)

09 September 2005, 09:36 PM
Man every time I see this sketch it drives, me nuts, and makes me go coocoo for CoCo Puffs, lol! hurr'up with the next image!

09 September 2005, 12:19 AM
nice concepts.
the last one is more spectacular.
the plane has a very little chance to survive. or the passengers...
first one is obvious, that it will make boooom.^^
keep on posting, and good luck .

09 September 2005, 12:53 AM
would not wanna be on this flight,
it's very dynamic, is it cliche, maybe a bit, but it is spectacular,

09 September 2005, 06:53 AM
You are off to an awesome start! - Good Luck

09 September 2005, 09:08 AM
just dropping by to give you an extra thought

i think you should go with this latest pic, but in case you
want to try something a bit different :

I got this idea from an old Judge Dredd comic book.
How about putting the plane in an airfield. For some
reason the plane would have continued its run at high
speed after landing and would be now , having lost its
front wheels in a collision with a airfield truck, blasting
through the giant window of an airfield terminal, where
surprised people would scream, run to eachother,
trying to escape from the planes way. The plane would
also be leaning to one side and its wing could be tearing
down the terminal's roof ...

09 September 2005, 08:13 PM
That is really Spectacular ! :) I think you should pay more attention to concepts of buldings. Good luck

09 September 2005, 09:24 PM
 Damn, that's pretty spectacular!

09 September 2005, 10:22 PM

Just wanted to slide by and thank you for your comment on my sketch. Coming from you it definitely means a lot.

Ive been peeping your progress on your sketchs and Im completely in awe.... your handle of EVERYTHING is superb. Simply breathtaking illustration skills. Keep it up and thanks again! - J

09 September 2005, 10:53 PM
Nice sketch. Should be nice if the finish product looks like the sketch.

09 September 2005, 11:22 PM
that is really stunning work!

09 September 2005, 11:51 PM
Fantastic start. I'm really liking your approach.

09 September 2005, 01:11 AM (

Hi everybody,

Thanks for all the critics and comments. They were very useful. Here, i did a very quick sketch over a block modelling. Just to see the new composition i'm planning. I've pulled the camera a little bit down and widen the compositon horizontally. I still don't know if i need to do this image vertical or horizontal. I'm going to make a vertical one soon to see the difference. Also, i can add more mayhem to the scene and more people ofcourse. But very low camera angle prevents the viewer to see more of the ground elements. Hmmm, complex scene. Anyway, i'll see what i can do.

09 September 2005, 02:08 AM
All versions are very technically strong. Of the three I actually thought the first was the most ominous, developed the most anxiety and spelled oblivion for the viewer. I think the closeness of the plane to the viewer drove the adrenaline up a notch. The composition in the other two seemed more aesthetically appealing, maybe because the environment was so well developed it was more convincing of reality. Maybe a darker pallette would suggest more mood, at dusk, or night, or even a grayer city? Maybe more of a trail of destruction headed this way? (a tail or just more small pieces) And maybe a bit closer to the disaster? Just some thinking, I really like this one. You've got a good fan base here!

09 September 2005, 02:43 AM
Damn atmos, youre killing it! Straight illustration onslaught!

The latest sketch is, in my opinion, the best. Solid composition and the color are deffo top class. I specifically like the way that light hits the pavement on the right side where the peeps are standing. Awesome contrast.

So many elements on this piece and they just flow like butter dude. I think you definitely encapsulate "spectacular" better than any other illustration Ive seen so far. Excellent.

09 September 2005, 03:46 AM
Very nice. It would be cool to see the top wing tearing out a row of windows as it goes.

09 September 2005, 06:20 AM
I prefer it with the lower perspective - it seems like youre seeing the scene through a pedestrians' eyes. Was it intentional to put a trade centery-type building behind the plane? Its squareish and has got a mast. It doesnt bother me, but some might get offended

Keep up the ace work anyways

09 September 2005, 07:32 AM
I definitely prefer the low camera angle. Like AndyH says, it roots you to the spot and makes you feel like a pedestrian in the scene.

I'd be really interested in seeing a portrait version!

Stonking work!

09 September 2005, 07:49 AM
Great picture. Very dynamic and spectacular. I prefer the second perspective, since it seems that there is more panic in the street. They're all great though :D.

09 September 2005, 08:20 AM
hey there!,
well firstly, great idea :), almost identical to mine unfortunately, it's lucky i'm in 3d section.
Going to have to work on some original aspects of my design. good luck with your entry, should be great.

09 September 2005, 08:32 AM
I have to agree with duddlebug & Andyh about the this about the compo that you have done previously next to this new one, I am waiting for the vertical compo to how it will look!

09 September 2005, 08:33 AM
I like the 2 compositions. Was more impressed by the 1st one but maybe it was because I discoverd the concept. In this last sketch there are no full reflective building, I hope it was just a test because they are very useful to the picture.

09 September 2005, 09:42 AM
I just love last one. This is what I had in mind. I would add more debree (pieces of wing, wall, glass) on the right wing (from viewer side) so you can se the plane is tearing thru the buldings. You definitely need more black smoke behind the plane to make it looks more real. Also if you put two or three people on foreground, close to viewers eye it would make nice feeling that we in a croud of people and the plane ic coming down on us. Finally some news chopper on the sky would be nice touch...

Amazing pice... luv it :D

09 September 2005, 11:20 AM
dont let Mr. Gulliani see this or he might go back to office as Mayor!!!:)
but great illustration.

09 September 2005, 12:07 AM
hey I have to agree with most of these people... the last composition you did was still the best... there's a couple key elements that seem to be missing in the new one

first I loved the tip of the wing dragging on the ground... it really brought the point home that this plane is definitely going down and the destruction is just beginning

second I thought the reflections on the glass buildings were awesome and really made the whole scene revolve around the incoming plane, where in the new one it's just not quite so poetic as that

also in the first one you could see the plane's path very well behind it... the way it curved around that skyscraper and into the street valley... you can still see it here, but it doesnt look as natural or impressive... you dont get the same feel for the plane's loss in altitude plus it doesnt look like the same smooth, wide swing around as before -- which implied alot of momentum

finally... I loved the camera spot you had before... right in the path of the plane... in the new one... it looks like it's only passing by, and you feel sorry for whoever's going to actually get nailed by it because it's obviously not going to be you

09 September 2005, 01:32 AM
Hiya Emrah,

Great concepts, I do like the first one because of the up-close and in your face. The second one is cool maybe a mix of the 2 but keep it close so we are in there with all the other screaming people...AAAHHH!!! just some thoughts...more updates please :)

09 September 2005, 09:02 AM
I'm gonna agree and say go with the landscape. Much more dramatic - it really emphasises just how low the plane is as its crashing - seeing too much above in the second takes away from that. If we had a CG Talk bookies, my money would be on this one. Fantastic stuff.

09 September 2005, 12:07 PM
hmmm.. donno why but I prefer more the previous composition. that last one doesnt give me a horror feeling that the plane goes towards me, so its less spectacular than the previous one... or it could be just coz of the previous better presentation and more detailed version with all that blur that gives a dynamic feeling. just my opinion.

09 September 2005, 05:10 PM
I think I like your recent sketch better. You can add more damage effects in the scene since both the wings of the plane are in view now, hitting through those buildings. That way it seems more like the plane's surrounded by destruction, and it''ll be like a monster who's out for blood rather than a plane out of control. I agree about tryin out a night or dusk setting. It will make the sky darker, therefore emphasize the city as well as light up the fire on the plane. Suggestion: would you consider putting in a human focal point in the street, maybe like a child who's caught like a deer in headlights just standing in the middle of the street, while everybody's running crazy for their lives?

agent bone
09 September 2005, 05:53 PM
Coming along nicely. I like the lower perspective and the motion blurs are working well. I agree with adding more damage effects. Keep going

09 September 2005, 06:01 PM
WOW! :bounce: I loved what you did with the plane. It breaking apart gives a better sense of WOW. I prefere though the other way how you had the city's layout. i think the other view allows you to see the more of the surronding area's damage. keep it up!

09 September 2005, 11:13 PM
N-gree - Thanks for your comments. You have some interesting ideas. More desaturation would be cool. I'll keep these in mind!
Mecha Hate Chimp - Thanks alot man. Really appreciated. I'll try to make this image better.
ChrisThatGuy - Hey, thanks for dropping by. I think thats a good idea. I'll keep it in mind.
Andy H - Thanks. Well, i didn't think about Trade center when painting that building. I'll try to do another design.
duddlebug - thanks for dopping by. I'm working on the vertical one now. I'll post it asap.
Eggs - Hey, thanks for comments. Yea, i'm thinking about the camera angle. I like the second one too. I'll see what i can do about it.
stripe - Hey thanks. Hope it's not very identical with yours. good luck too
beelow - Thanks for your reply. Yea, i think i need to see the vertical one to decide.
authentic - Hey! Yea, i'll put more reflective buildings to the image. I'm keeping that in mind. Thanks.
OmeN2501 - Thanks for dopping by. All your ideas are great. I'll keep them in mind. I don't agree with the chopper though. It'll make the image too crowded and ruin the feeling of sudden death.
mannix8 - thanks
SalmonGod - Hmm, interesting points. Everyone is saying different things. I need to think about these. Thanks for your comments man. Appreciated.
element5 - thanks man. I'll try to keep you updated :)
Elsie - Thanks, really appreciated.
NinjaASSN - Thanks man. Yea, i think it's because of the less detail.
ahbeejieh - hey. great ideas. thanks. A night scene would be really cool. I'll try that. So i can put so many lights this way. awesome!
agent bone - thanks.
Star_Searcher_2103 - thanks alot man. appreciated. i'll keep your comments in mind.

09 September 2005, 01:15 AM
wow looks great. It would be nice to see some people close up in the corners like you did in the first comp so I can see the suprise and fear in their faces.

mr. thurner
09 September 2005, 01:22 AM
no words to yours...:buttrock:congratulations.

09 September 2005, 02:54 AM
This new one is looking great, but honestly I kinda prefer the previous one where the plane is dropping straight down; it had more energy to it. Still, the choice is up to you.

09 September 2005, 11:29 AM
tAsty BITs - hey, thanks for the reply. Yea, thats right i think. I'll keep that in mind.
mr. thurner - Thanks alot.
wraithdt - Hey. thanks alot. I'll think of it.

09 September 2005, 03:49 PM
Good point fo view,as I said several pages ago:) but, from my point of view, Id make the plane a bit bigger to increase the feeling of the pedestrians: "oh, theres no escape...or yes":D

Anyway, Im sure youll find the cool point of view:thumbsup:

09 September 2005, 06:26 PM
Keep going:)

09 September 2005, 09:38 PM
Emrah it seems really much more imressive and better from others...
we're shocked my bro...:applause:

09 September 2005, 02:07 AM
man that's scary to think about... but definitely spectacular. good luck!

09 September 2005, 01:07 PM
Gonzalo Golpe - thanks for your comment. Yea, i need to make it bigger i guess.
Ahmed Hosny - thanks
anil6tr - thanks bro. I appreciate.

10 October 2005, 03:33 PM
hey man nice to se you again, and very cool idea and progress, i want to see the final image:thumbsup:

10 October 2005, 06:56 PM
This is a very powerful piece you've got here. One thing I miss from your initial sketch posted back on 9-5 was how enormous the plane was, it was huge, streaming right for the viewer, helping to add a sense of urgency and "OH @*$!" to the image :) Though I like this image, I think (and this is just opinion, no idea if it would work :P) if you were to put the plane closer it would make a more stronger impression. Right now it's kind of small in relation to the rest of the scene, so it's not as forboding for me. Adding huge chunks of debris that fly out toward the viewer would help add that sense of danger as well, and would make full use of the extra details you've put in the scene :)

Keep up the great work.

10 October 2005, 07:18 PM
Very powerfull and fearfull image, you have certainly captured the spectacular here, best of luck to you, although I think with this quality of work you wont need any luck :-)

I will certainly keep an eye on this work.

11 November 2005, 12:30 AM
