09-05-2005, 11:30 AM
thnx guys! Damn, Im still busy as hell, so I'll go easy on this one... as with the master and servant challenge. But it will be a lot of fun, I see that already :D MAybe something more colorfull this time.

09-05-2005, 11:36 AM
Glad to see you're back at it , Blaz! Now c'mon with the ninja madness! Wha-hoo!

09-05-2005, 12:23 PM

09-05-2005, 12:34 PM
ah here you are! Yesh, colorful, colurful, with spectacular colors :) :bounce:

09-05-2005, 12:35 PM
Hi Blaz... Have fun and make it SPeCTAcuLaR!!

09-05-2005, 12:50 PM
huh, listening to Apocalyptica and under the impression of "Charlie and the chocolate factory" movie I saw yesterday, Im feeling psychedelic. Strong colors and wide perspective... lots of different shapes and stuff lying all around. I think I'll go with an environment this time and a child who climbed over the edge and saw something that will get him goosebumps. Ok, thats for a start... Im going back to listen some more strange music :)

thnx for a nice wellcome calisto!

09-05-2005, 01:00 PM
hey cool!! good luck with the challenge!!

09-05-2005, 06:07 PM
so, my update of a previous idea is, that the child climbes over the edge of some high mountain or wall or something and on the other side he sees a process of creating a world, massive creatures that r puting terrain together, how everything began. I hope I'll do some sketches soon :)

09-05-2005, 06:12 PM
maybe he shud fall off the his death...symbolising that as something is created, sumthing is also dieing.

*actually i just thought it wud just be funny to see a kid falling, hahha*

09-05-2005, 07:25 PM
Go Ninja!

09-05-2005, 11:38 PM
your idea reminds me too much of hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. But actually it would fit the topic very well... hmmm... hmm....

09-06-2005, 01:13 AM
coCoKNIght: really? damn.. I really didnt read or see hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. But if that is so, than lets go to the next idea. Which is I dont know what at the moment yet :D soon..

09-06-2005, 06:11 AM
I really didnt read or see hitchhikers guide to the galaxy

nuts . u just don't do stuff like that. u go get the books from somewhere now, forget
the movie and whatever , but u gotta read the books.

and we want some sketches

09-06-2005, 07:24 AM
great to see you participate, Blaz! I'm thinking of doing the same... but I dont have any good ideas right now... Good luck mate!

09-06-2005, 10:25 AM
nuts . u just don't do stuff like that. u go get the books from somewhere now, forget
the movie and whatever , but u gotta read the books.

and we want some sketches

Forget the books, but u gotta listen to the radio plays :)

09-06-2005, 11:06 AM
forget coCoKNIght, he's only saying that cuz he can't read

like some radio play gonna top the books..riight..
yea they might be cool , but still..nah..

09-06-2005, 11:42 AM
hehehe.. I really dont have much time right now reading anything at all, except art books for extra knowledge. Im still working on 4-5 projects at the same time, going to school, training and having a gf :) a busiest and also best time in my life.

09-06-2005, 12:55 PM (

Ok folx... lets start it. First sketch, a new concept. A story is about a missing german submarine, which disappeared in WW2 somewhere around South America. It was full of gold and treasures, but a huge storm flushed it on the shore, deep into the rain forest.. and noone ever heard about it since. But now this treasure seeker (little man in the picture) found it, hanging from the trees on lianas.
Well, thats for a start :)

09-06-2005, 12:57 PM
Looks great Blaz!

edit: Although i actually thought it was underwater because of the colours! That could be a great trick to play on the viewer! So they think it's underwater at first glance and then realise it's just deep forest (I thought the little fella was some kind of spooky underwater type!) :D

09-06-2005, 12:59 PM
Oooh! A very nice start Blaz!

09-06-2005, 12:59 PM
its not particularly colorfull, but the music Im listening at the moment doesnt allowed that :D

duddlebug, Aly: thnx!

09-06-2005, 01:00 PM
wow, really like it, great mood

09-06-2005, 01:02 PM
looking good, going to be a bit special methinks

09-06-2005, 01:04 PM

09-06-2005, 01:05 PM
interesting concept, great sketch! good luck and nice to see you:)

09-06-2005, 01:06 PM
Great sketch man. Awesome atmosphere. Put some more dramatic light to the floor. And maybe more contrast. Keep it up

09-06-2005, 01:17 PM
Dervish, spyroteknik, NOOB!, Rudeone: thnx for ur replies. Im glad u like it :)

Atmospheria: thnx for the comment man! Im planing to do so, if I will go with this idea... I have a couple more to put down, but first I have to find time to do that :) thnx again!

09-06-2005, 01:21 PM
yeaaaa good mood

09-06-2005, 01:24 PM

Good luck :)

09-06-2005, 01:41 PM

09-06-2005, 02:16 PM
That looks fantastic, great atmosphere!

And don't listen to squib, he doesn't know that hitchhikers gide was a radio play before it became a book, before it became a film...

and try not spending more time with this challenge than with your gf! :)

09-06-2005, 02:24 PM
Hello my friend,

Nice to see you again :)

Man that looks like a finished piece the concept....

09-06-2005, 02:33 PM
A great start you did here Balz  I love the mood and the idea.

09-06-2005, 02:37 PM
I agree with what everyones said so far.. great atmosphere and concept. Really looking forward to see how this progresses.

09-06-2005, 02:42 PM
Cool visual Ninja keep it up U rock.

09-06-2005, 03:37 PM
NICE! this one has a lot of potentual! I like that i cant realy tell if its under water or not. I'm guessing not, but the light and atmosphere still sugest it, so it just makes it that much more creepy/ spectacular. LOL

09-06-2005, 04:02 PM
Wow. Awesome sketch man.

09-06-2005, 04:15 PM
Looks amazing so far. You achieved the theme of this challenge very well I think. Nice to see you again in the challenge :)

09-06-2005, 04:19 PM
Nice Sketch, I am ready to be spectacularized!:scream:

09-06-2005, 04:22 PM
it semms really impressive.
good luck...

09-06-2005, 04:35 PM
Great scale and the muted colours are nice too. Keep it up :)

09-06-2005, 04:53 PM
-tolga-, Gus_clifton, Velinov, enialadam, Nomad, yAdam, Nox, ahbeejieh, beelow, anil6tr: thnx for ur support, I really appreciate it!

Genesisa: thnx for popping in! Im not even sure if that is my latest concept, but if I'll go for that one, there will probably be just one seeker or someone else down there. I think its more dramatic if the relationship is going just between 2 ppl or one person and one thing. the viewer could go into that little one and feels the same as him.

coCoKNIght: I'll try spending more time with my gf for sure, thnx :)

element5: hi man! thnx for stoping by and ur nice comment. but just wait till the pic will be finished hehehe

CodeNothing: u r the second one that mentioned that (beside duddlebug)... not knowing if its under the sea or in the jungle.. I like taht idea and will try to keep in mind that thru the rest of the process. thnx!

AirbORn: thnx buddy! I appreciate it!

Baron Impossible: thnx! I'll try with some more exaggeration to achieve even bigger contrast with scale and I'll keep those desaturated colors as well.

09-06-2005, 04:57 PM
Wishing you good luck!

Looks really great. No need to hurry there. Better to get perfect idea first. 3 months is plenty of time

09-06-2005, 05:03 PM
That is the most spectacular sketch Ive ever seen!

Im definatly gonna follow this one. great wok =)

09-06-2005, 05:46 PM
hmm loks like almost done...:] so will you end tommorow? ...Great work keep it up. (I'd love to see more details, mood is perfect)

09-06-2005, 07:27 PM
I'm loving the colors and shadowy feeling of the picture! Great concept

09-06-2005, 07:35 PM
Good to see you back, Blaz! Looking forward to seeing what you develop this time around... as well as getting some helpful feedback from you... IF either of us has the time! :-)

09-06-2005, 08:08 PM

Good luck Blaz, you're off to a good start!

09-06-2005, 09:06 PM
Hi Blaz,

Ahh the unmissable thread ahead. I´m sure here will be great art created, buddy.

a beautiful start. With great atmosphere and mood. The perspective view has a very nice dramatic angle. But maybe the scetch has a little less spectacular feel concerning the subject. Just a feeling.

my best wishes

09-07-2005, 03:59 AM
holly cow!~this sketch of urs looks incredibly awesome~spectacular indeed!the mood and the composition~very strong,:thumbsup:

So far, you're off to an excellent start.
Best of luck, Blaz. :)

09-07-2005, 08:04 PM
Woooooo! Deep and dark and woooooo!

I like it!

Good luck :bounce:

09-07-2005, 09:48 PM
Hey Blaz, nice to see you in the challenge arena again, I loved your M&S entry, and thus far your spectacular entry is looking welll.. just that! The mood is lovely, those few orange lights are what really make you draw breath and think wow, in what looks as if it could be abandoned, there is life! Great start, keep it up!

09-08-2005, 06:56 PM
Hi there!
Excellent start!
I like the depth and proportions and scale of your elements.
Nice concept as well.
Keep up the good work

09-08-2005, 07:28 PM
Hello Blaž!

Nice sketch! But ... yes there is always but in my comments ;) ... I must agree with Fahrija (http://showpost.php?p=2611196&postcount=61), that there is no spectacularly story you know… And as I can see in sketch you can’t work with details a lot here, and it could be to much conceptual at the end.

I hope that I help you a bit!

Good luck!

09-08-2005, 08:29 PM
VERY impressive start... love the vast sense of scale. Dramatic lighting rocks too... evokes a feeling of awe mixed with dread uncertainty. Genious!

Do I understand that you have MORE concept goodness to share? Hmmm... whip it out, Ninja!

09-09-2005, 12:18 AM
Great proposal:thumbsup: Good luck!

09-09-2005, 12:44 AM
Hello Ninja!

Submarine hanging in jungle vines sounds like an awesome re-thinking of the cliche ship-on-a-mountaintop idea. I love it! :)

09-09-2005, 02:30 AM
I like the feeling this is giving.. the guy seems very lost down there.. The sub looks lived in, as if natives have adapted it and made a shelter out of the hull. And maybe integrated it into thier tree villiage? just the thoughts it gave me, cant wait to see more!

09-09-2005, 02:47 AM
This is so damn cool! keep it up! 2d art on this site amazes the crap out of me!! it takes SOOO much talent.

09-09-2005, 10:53 AM
thnx for the comments so far! Im really short on time, and Im going to a workshop for this weekend, so more sketches and replies to every single one of u when I'll come back. thnx again folx :)

09-09-2005, 12:01 PM
Yaeh !! Welcome back too !!

Nice mood for your concept !! Waiting more !!

09-09-2005, 12:14 PM
Yap,Yap Mr Ninja, excellent idea and nice atmosphere!!i'll sure be hanging around in this thread some more again!!!
have Fun!!!

09-09-2005, 01:14 PM
All the best Blaž.

09-10-2005, 02:56 AM
Hi NinjaASSN,

Damn bro, what an excellent sketch! The concept is definitely on a spectacular level but so are your skills!

The way you have that soft light on the edge of those rocks is killing me... just your lighting in general is excellent. Awesome, awesome stuff.

09-11-2005, 10:14 PM
Hi I just dropped in to say hello - your concept is great and I can hardly wait to see the final image - I have no doubts that it will be as impressive (and even more spectacular) as the rest of your work.

09-12-2005, 12:30 AM
wow fantastic sketch really gives one to his/her imagination! looks already finished!
cheers !

09-12-2005, 12:58 AM
exelent sketch.... good luck!!!

09-12-2005, 04:01 AM
Great atmosphere with this one.....feels like I'm right there, exploring. Makes me want to leave my desk right now, explore, discover.....................oh wait, I'm lazy.

Great start. Good composition...flows from sub to little guy and back.

09-13-2005, 10:35 AM
Finally found some minutes to sit back and write some replies... but still not enough time to put down some more sketches.. well, first things first:

Falcor_: hi man! thnx for good wishes. Im not hurrying at all hehe.. but 3 months isnt that much, while I have many other things to do beside that challenge. I'll put down a couple more ideas and than start finishing one of them.

the_fgdf: well, I did spend an hour and a half on this one, so its really not exactly a quick sketch :) but Im planing to spend a lot more to finish it. thnx!

walrus: thnx for the greetings! I'll sure gonna stop in ur thread often and Im wonder what I'll developed this time as well :D

renderwhite: Im glad u like it and that it gives u a twist. I'll still play a bit more with a perspective and camera angle, and I hope that the results will be even better. Thnx for stopping by!

SideAche: thnx man! I'll stop in ur thread soon as well :)

Fahrija: hello buddy! And thanx a lot for stopping by! ur posts r always a great help for further development and progress. I will work some more on the spectacularness for sure. MAybe with exaggeration of a perspective, maybe with the light, but at the end I wanna the feeling that gives u a rush, a feeling that makes u feel like u discovered that big submarine. I hope I'll succeed :)

sh@ke: thnx man! Im really pleased u like it.

Geci: hi mate! I hope that u'll join this challenge as well.. let me know when u do ;)

Zepyhri: thnx for a nice welcome! and u just inspired me for some further stuff that I'll put into the pic, thnx :)

izisilver: thnx for stoping by! I'll try to stick with this idea a bit more and see where to could I bring it. I hope that at the end there will be a lot of spectacularity in it. Thnx once again for ur critic.

artjunkie: I do some more concepts in my mind yea. I just hope that I'll find the time to put it donw and show it to all of u :) thnx for poping in my thrad!

digital_bobert: yea, something like that hahaha.. thnx!

teyekanik: yea, I tried to isolate that guy from everything else from the pic, so it looks even smaller and more vulnorable. it sure will be life up there, just dont know what kind of. Maybe it will be an animal shelter. thnx for ur opinion!

Eric_Cartman: hi buddy! hope to se u in here as well..

Mecha Hate Chimp: thnx man! Im glad u like it and I'll try even to rise it to a higher level :)

Big D: hi there! I hope I wont dissapoint u :) and all the best to u 2!

KITTNLITTER: thnx! thats the feeling Im looking for in my pic. I wish I will keep that feeling thru the rest of the process.

Comlock, csgirl, botched, ori@r.a.m, ArtisticVisions, fooxoo, evanfotis, Gonzalo Golpe, rblitz7, Pierrick, OKMER, yunisirees, Ducklator: thnx to all of u guys! u r the best and giving me that kind of support I really appreciate it!

09-13-2005, 10:43 AM
"That's no...sketch!"

seriously Blaz - I can't wait to see what you consider a finished piece to be.

09-13-2005, 02:26 PM
whoa like your atmosphere, love to see more!

09-13-2005, 02:31 PM
Looks great. Reminds me of the book "Shadowdivers" If you haven't read it, you should look into it. Will fill you full of insperation.

09-13-2005, 03:07 PM
cool lookin piece. gonna look forward what will be happening in this thread for sure!

09-14-2005, 12:59 AM
The sketch looks great. I think it's kinda weird that the treaser seeker is alone, right now he looks like a passive observer more than a treasure seeker. Also submarines aren't very big maybe 60 to 80 feet long and the way you have it now the sub looks huge.

09-14-2005, 06:58 AM
Excellent mood lighting, looking forward to further development.

09-15-2005, 11:21 AM (

So, after a week or so, I finally found an hour to play a bit more with my entry. I took my first sketch and try to bring it to a higher level. I read ur comments once again and correct the ligh and added more folx in the down right corner, as well as some more life around the submarine (just birds at the moment). For light and jungle I used some photo references, put over the original sketch and played with layer modes to get the desired effect. Its still just a sketch which I will completely redraw later then, so I guess thats not a crime to do :) I tried some other camera angles as well with pencil sketches, but Im still staying with this first idea for now. It gives somehow the best feeling of what its like to discover something big.

09-15-2005, 11:32 AM
Great update Blaz! Very interesting texturing and lightnng. Loved it! You should push the spectacularness of the image though. Keep it up man!

09-15-2005, 11:33 AM
And I just got another idea for this piece... coz the story says that this is a wrecked german submarine from WW2 and was traveling around full of gold, I will show that with a gold lying all around under the submarine, and maybe also driping out of some holes from the submarine (just here and there ofcorz.. after all, it has been lying here for some time) I think this will be a bit more spectacular... what do u think? In my next sketch update :)

09-15-2005, 11:35 AM
thank u very much Atmospheria! I'll do my best :)

09-15-2005, 11:43 AM
Lovely textures Blaz!

And the lighting's lookin' good too.

I reckon the gold is a good idea. Maybe have a hole in the hull of the submarine where it's spilled out from..? (with some bits still inside?)

The little figures really help define its size...

EDiT: hmmm... i just said exactly what you said anyway... i'll go away now...doh. :)

09-15-2005, 11:51 AM
Awesome interpretation as well as presentation.

a.k.a. T3logy:applause:

09-15-2005, 12:22 PM
that is excellent mate.. the idea is very good.

09-15-2005, 12:46 PM
Good Luck Buddy:)

09-15-2005, 01:56 PM
Love it! Very good sense of scale in the scene. It "almost" takes my breath away.
The birds really do their purpose!

09-15-2005, 02:09 PM
Cool idea, love the light and the tiny people on the corner. That submarine was HUGE!!

09-15-2005, 03:00 PM
It's getting better and better. Great mood. Good luck

09-15-2005, 03:07 PM
It's looking good, Ninja! Nice layout and concept and textures, and the lighting is just great. Only comment I'd make is that, between the mistly light and the colors and the subject, when I look at it, I get the feeling it's all underwater. I had to go back and reread your posts just to confirm that it wasn't. With a sub as the main subject, it's a natural conclusion to jump to. I hope as you bring more light into the picture, I hope that you'll also consider bringing more of a feeling of out-doorsiness. (Yes, i know that's not a real word, but you know what I mean! :) )

Good luck!

09-15-2005, 03:55 PM
Oh yes, I completely agree with Mike the walrus:thumbsup: I had the same feeling at the first sight, until I saw the people. Maybe the direction of the light.

Anyway, this is one of the works that I consider one of my favourites:)

agent bone
09-15-2005, 04:13 PM
Looking really good. Love the scale and lighting. coming along nicely

09-15-2005, 06:21 PM
DUDE! u done updates! and i been just lookin at the thumbnail thinkin
it hasnt changed and that's it's nice that people keep dropping by
your thread even tho you're being busy somewhere...argh , haha!

nice work, keep it up!

09-15-2005, 06:27 PM
Fantastic foliage!

If I were you though, I would put something into the middle lower right sector, the very dark area, to lead to where the people are. Seeing the people is almost like a happy accident right now, so all you really see when you look at the picture is some lovely foliage, a submarine (which is kind of hard to tell what it is when it's so far out of its natural environment and doesn't have a telescope or anything of that nature to distinguish it) and moody lighting. I'd try to introduce more of a story with the people and highlight them a little more.

........great volumetric lighting, by the way!

09-15-2005, 06:42 PM
cool idea.I love submarine.great sketch so far.nice comp and lighting.cheers.

09-15-2005, 07:06 PM
DUDE! u done updates! and i been just lookin at the thumbnail thinkin
it hasnt changed and that's it's nice that people keep dropping by
your thread even tho you're being busy somewhere...argh , haha!

Oops same here :D

Your idea of a treasure used to be carried by the sub sounds great, I say go for it!
I agree with Walrus that it looks like an underwater scene at first sight and I have to admit that I allready had forgotten it wasn't, sorry so many threads to follow, I'll remember now :D
The humans and birds certainly give away it's in a jungle tho, more trees maybe?

One thing, is there still light coming from the sub? would that be normal if it was laying there for so long?

Keep it up!

09-15-2005, 07:11 PM
very cool light on this, great idea, just don't know about that gold thing, but would have to see it first,

09-15-2005, 08:23 PM
I agree with Walrus that it looks like an underwater scene at first sight and...

Nooo, another oops and another sorry, i thought so too, lol

even better out of waters! Well, as cool anyways cause in both cases
there are so many different ways yo develop the scene :D

09-16-2005, 06:13 AM
Damn, my bad! I thought you did not update! I thought it was underwater as well, you think trees maybe will help it out? good stuff so far, can't wait to see the next one!

09-16-2005, 06:34 AM
fantastic! i think you should just make it a lil bit more clear that it's a forest and not underwater. but i find it beautiful already.

09-16-2005, 09:09 AM
looks great!keep it up!!:)

09-16-2005, 09:18 AM
uhh, nice textures and lighting to see here. good luck to you

09-16-2005, 11:57 AM
Great textures and lighting. I agree it looks very underwatery.

09-17-2005, 12:37 AM
Hello Ninja..!

Great to see you. Nice job here. Very interesting lighting and texturing. There is a storytelling in this picture, really..
But, I was wondering...This sub must be very spectacular for the little characters at the bottom ! Is it such spectacular for us ? That's one of the difficulties of this challenge : Sometimes the artist is completly in his picture, he is a part of his drawing. Maybe you could take some distance and look at your picture like an anonymous spectator...
Of course, if you manage to bring the mind of the spectator in your

Wow, Blaz...this is really moody! The first thing that strikes me which perhaps you didn't do on purpose but I think looks marvelous, is the ambiguity between deep underwater scene versus deep jungle scene. I think it's a bit of both...a deep underwater jungle. Also, the way you made the sunlight invade the scene and illuminate the small figures in the corner is just wonderful. Great piece, man!

09-17-2005, 10:19 AM
Hi ninja, nice mood and scale, keep it up!

09-18-2005, 02:20 PM
Hi Nija. Well what can i say..... looking forward for more about your history.

Nice paint. go go go and good luck.
xbo :scream:

09-18-2005, 02:38 PM
wow!! This is such a beautiful concept. I adore the lighting and textures. Great work!! :)

09-18-2005, 04:14 PM
Maybe it should be time for update ??

Good luck! I'll be lurking around this thread. Nice potential and good concept sketch.

09-18-2005, 04:29 PM
ok guyz, Im back.. been away for a while, busy as always, but Im coming back with another idea, but no new sketches yet :/ I found that last concept a bit less spectacular for a viewer, like some ppl mentioned here. So here is another concept...
2 guyz jumping out of the window, from 100 floor or so, on each side of a windowwasher, who seems to be petrified about the situation. Those 2 guys r entangled in a shooting scene, or more like a mortal combat situation. The perspective is very exaggerated adding to the spectacularity of the image. sketch very soon. What do u think about it?

very ninja...

09-19-2005, 01:52 PM
much more spectacular... great idea!

09-19-2005, 04:57 PM (

3rd sketch... I used some photo references for this sketch, to get some cool textures and better present my idea. Its the idea that I put down in a previous post. Im not satisfied with this camera angle, but its something to show u whats going on in my mind.

09-19-2005, 05:01 PM (

or is maybe better that way?

09-19-2005, 05:12 PM
Sounds great! flipped version is definitly better.

But...I liked your previous concept better I must say, but this could definitly work

09-20-2005, 01:59 AM
like rudy mentioned~i prefered the previous concept too, however this looks pretty interesting too~u have this shinobi kinda way of working eh~:scream:

09-20-2005, 06:01 PM
hi guys!

I see that that last one didnt get such a warm welcome (thnx enyone for looking and posting reply :)), so I'll go on with concepts... new idea... so, its a rescue mission on a sea, a shipwreck in a back of the image, a landscape format, some ppl r in the water, a choper cruzing around, and in the first plan there will be a hand out of the water, reaching for help. I'll develop more story while puting down the sketch... it will be lots of emotions, did the choper see that poor guy in the water or not... will he be saved or not... and so on and so on.. soon!

09-20-2005, 06:47 PM
That's all good. I am interested in what you are going to do next with the next concept that you are going to do, holla!

09-20-2005, 07:40 PM
In flipped version it seems that viewer of picture is jumping out of the window. It's very dynamic.

Good luck ;)

09-20-2005, 08:57 PM
I really like this idea, Blaz, I think with the right poses and sense of movement, it could be quite stunning. I would really go for the first unflipped version. When I first looked at it, I honestly thought the windowcleaner was hooked to the bottom of that board and it was in a room, or under a roof. Of course on closer inspection it becomes more obvious, but the natural viewer's point would be the first version, which is why I'd be inclined to go with that. I'd like to see what you had in mind for the figures, but I can see you obviously have lots of other stuff on the back burner too, so who knows, there might even be something better!

09-20-2005, 11:16 PM (

So, here is another concept, presented in a previous post of mine. Does it have any chance at all? :)

09-20-2005, 11:40 PM
beelow and Pawlack: thank u very much for stoping by :)

Zepyhri: thank u for very long reply. I much appreciate it! I agree with ur points, but Im going for this new concept, helicopter and victims in the sea. Hope u like it as well.

And another concept pop in my mind right now. The moment will be put a few minutes after the rescuing the victim, and will be look like surfing infront of the sharks :) the helicopter will be going towards the horizont (will be far in the background), a victim in that circle will be dragged by the rope, and will be following by 2 or 3 sharks :) I hope that makes any sence... well, sketch tomorrow. its time to get some sleep now. bye!

09-21-2005, 12:04 AM
Great composition & color, Blaz. This could be a powerful image. I think this could be more effective if you showed the victims face struggling to stay above the water so that you can convey the look of terror in his eyes. Also the life preserver kinda takes some of the drama out of the scene, since it looks like the guy is going to get rescued. You could put more victims in the water nearer the chopper so that you dont know who will get rescued. A dark stain on the water could suggest someone has already been attacked by sharks.
Anyway, looking good. Good luck!

09-21-2005, 12:09 AM
Ok, from my point of view, to this particular challenge we´ve to do a spectacular image. An image which probably won´t happen again. With this first rule, my personal opinion is this: I like so much your submarine sketch. The first time I saw it, captivated me so much. I imagined walk on the big forest and find that thing...:)This is my point of view.

09-21-2005, 08:41 AM
thnx both of u for ur time :)

zpapageo: u r right, I shoud put more ppl into the water so it wouldnt be certain who wil be rescued and who not. I'll try that in one of my next sketches :) thnx!

Gonzalo Golpe: thnx dude! I have some more concepts in my mind right now. I'll put it down and show it to u and than lisetn which direction should I take. but I must say that I have doubts about submarine... well, we'll see :)

Another concept idea... a surfer on a tornado :D all around them flying cows, ppl, buildings, trash and cars.. but he seems to enjoy the ride.. or maybe, that there r even more surfers, a competition of an extreme surfing! who survives and who doesnt.. hehe.. soon!

09-21-2005, 04:59 PM
Hey Blaz, all the sketches are good, hum but I prefer te first one, that gives an impression about a giant place and something very strong.

Keep it up!

09-21-2005, 05:22 PM
Good reflections on the helicopter. Althought it somehow looks heavy and plump. :)

If the rescue person would be cruel he would be using giant YoYo to tease the guy in the water

About that building sketch i think the heavy curve and fisheye of the picture is killing of the vertigo effect.

Keep at it! I know you will find a perfect idea. So much time left still.

09-21-2005, 08:07 PM
Hi Ninja. Looks great the last Idea. Keep going.

Have a nice work.

xbo :scream:

09-21-2005, 11:23 PM
great idea. you have lot of fredom whit this image. you can also put some very dark clouds or some lights on the helicopter . i dont know = ) but is great. i love it.. great job dude..

09-22-2005, 07:16 AM
Hi Blaz!

I like this new sketches more than the ones you did before! Helicopter rescuing is much more spectacular than an old submarine... :) I think the atmospere should be more dramatic, i have no doubt it will be a superb work!
I'm definetly gonna join... just collecting ideas for now :D

09-23-2005, 09:48 PM
Hello Blaz!

I think it’s gut that you changed your concept, but I must say that I like this idea:

2 guyz jumping out of the window, from 100 floor or so, on each side of a windowwasher, who seems to be petrified about the situation. Those 2 guys r entangled in a shooting scene, or more like a mortal combat situation. The perspective is very exaggerated adding to the spectacularity of the image.

Why? because it‘s more spectacular! Chopper rescue is good too, but people in CGT need violence ;)

09-23-2005, 09:57 PM
hi guys and thnx for stoping by! I did some home work and start replying to ur threads :) sorry for not replying to everyone yet, I hope I'll find more time in next couple of days.

Gus: wait till u see the last one Im planing to submit ;)

Falcor_: thnx man! I'll keep posting new ideas, so no one that was created till now will probably my last.

2xbo: thnx man :)

Genesisa: thnx man! Im going on with new ideas, but nice suggestions!

Geci: start posting sketches dude! I cant wait..

izisilver: hi man! I had some troubles with finding the right camera angle for that pic, so I went on with another concepts. Wait for more and thnx for stopping by!

09-24-2005, 12:22 AM
lalalala, just came to spam a bit. I like your chopper concept, haha, but reading this 2 guyz jumping out of the window, from 100 floor or so, on each side of a windowwasher, who seems to be petrified about the situation. Those 2 guys r entangled in a shooting scene, or more like a mortal combat situation. The perspective is very exaggerated adding to the spectacularity of the image.

Why? because it‘s more spectacular! Chopper rescue is good too, but people in CGT need violence ;)

lol, yeah the masses cry for that shot :p

09-24-2005, 11:41 AM
surfer idea sounds cool. A friend of mine had the idea yesterday of angels surfing on an atom bomb mushroom or however you call those... since he's not participating anyway, you could also consider that idea. I like both a lot.

09-24-2005, 12:12 PM (

and here is another sketch from me, a presentation of my latest idea I posted here some time ago. This one took me a bit longer than other sketches, coz I started with composition lines and rules, and after that I went on with real painting. I think its clearly seen what have I been doing :)
Once again, some explanation for this image...
Its a new sort of extreme sport, where surfers r riding a tornado. There is a helicopter recording this for TVs and ofcors, there is a lot of other junk flying around (cars, houses, garbage, cows...). Its not so simple riding the tornado, so there can be also spotted some casualties (surfers r falling down).
I hope u like the concept, coz I must say that Im quite happy with it :)

09-24-2005, 12:20 PM
I like it! It's got a fun, playful spirit about it, it's unique, and it's certainly spectacular in theme.
I still like the idea of the sub in the jungle, too, but the others haven't done as much for me personally. This one does, though. Good luck with it, if you decide to move forward with the concept.

09-24-2005, 12:25 PM
thnx a lot walrus for ur support! I always love to read ur thoughts :) To be honest, Im devided between this one and the sub. But some say that the sub isnt spectacular enough... we'll see what will they say for this one, and than I'll choose which direction to go to. Thnx again man! much appreciate it.

And I should say, that I looked for some surfers and helicopter references on the net, for geting right poses and so on...

09-24-2005, 01:18 PM
yes its cool, but your first ideia of the submarine its far more original, really see it more spectacular then any explosion or extreme radical event! hey its just a thought, and if you go with the surfer im sure it will be awsome. good luck

09-24-2005, 11:35 PM (

yea.. as u see I decided to go with the submarine after all. No other concept get such a response as the first one (maybe not coz of spectacularity, but anyway hehe) so I choose the submarine idea. I flipped the primary sketch, and drew an outline for this idea. And there is a slight change in the whole idea...

New story: while the submarine was flushed into the jungle by a tsunami or something, there probably wont be any human explorers down there... Those black spots r monkeys, baboons who discovered this submarine short after it was wrecked. In the back there will be grownups who r afraid to come closer to the unknown object, but in the front line there will be the smallest kid baboon who seems to be the bravest.. or just the stupidest/curious baboon out there.
Maybe this isnt the last story that I'll go with, maybe I'll change some things during the painting process, but it will do for now. :) thnx for replying!

09-25-2005, 08:57 AM
nice lineart... :buttrock:

09-25-2005, 09:06 AM
cool story.i like it.:bounce:
nice comp and beautiful sketch.
how about some monkey hanging on submarine?:D

09-25-2005, 09:29 AM
now thats what i'm talking about~looking good here~so u have finalised the composition?waiting for some colors now:scream:

09-25-2005, 11:29 AM
Yeah! the submarine idea is the winner.....:) Coolies

09-25-2005, 11:30 AM (

a very quick color composition...

09-25-2005, 11:33 AM
Hehe, I think this is your best choice:thumbsup:...Oh, you put a quick color sketch while I´m writing this reply:D ...oh, i´t looks better!now it looks a real forest. Go for it!:)

09-25-2005, 11:39 AM
great! This idea really has enough 'spectacular' in it. no need to worrie 'bout that

09-25-2005, 11:57 AM
Way to go, Blaz... this was my favourite concept and I'm glad you went with it! :bounce: I love the idea that monkeys discover the sub... kinda like a 'first contact' thing. It actually reminds me of that intense moment in 2001: A Space Odessy where the primative humanoids discover the black monolith. Genious! :applause:

Can't wait to see more, bro...

09-25-2005, 12:37 PM
Oh yeah man! thats a great concept, the base colors are so beautifull it looks gigantic! this composition works even better than your 1st, good luck:bounce:

09-25-2005, 01:08 PM
Cool to see you decided to go with the subconcept and the idea of monkeys and baboons is really cool.
Are you still going with the treasure idea? cause I think it could still be a great detail in the piece.

09-25-2005, 04:05 PM (

an update :) will reply to ur posts soon... just have to finish with my lunch :D

09-25-2005, 05:38 PM
hi guys :)

Ranath, sh@ke, element5, coCoKNIght: thnx to all of u very much! much appreciate it!

xric7: thnx buddy! well, I doubt that I'll hang a monkey on that thing, coz they r just about to discover it and r still afraid of it.

Gonzalo Golpe: yea, I'll try to catch a jungle here, hopefully noone will think its under the sea again, hehe... thnx!

artjunkie: thnx man, after some thinking it came across that this should be the right idea for this challenge. and also I like to paint dark images, so this is the one to satisfy my needs :D

renderwhite: I was thinking about flipping it or not flipping it, and see that it better looks flipped. also that way u more easely spotted things on the ground. thnx for stopping by!

Rudeone: I'll see if the picture will missing something... if it will be too empty (on elements or colors), than I'll add some of gold laying around. thnx! :)

09-25-2005, 06:32 PM
nice painting:thumbsup: coming along so well.keep it up.cheers.:bounce:

09-25-2005, 10:12 PM (

so I started with details... it can be seen in upper left corner, some trees, lianas and water started to get real shape. thats the most fun part :D

09-25-2005, 10:23 PM
Looks awesome! :)
The rainforrests got a really nice feel. Waiting for those monkeys to show up.. :p

09-25-2005, 10:49 PM
Ah, Nice Blaz!

This has come along very nicely. I have one comment, which is that it's looking a little flat in some areas. It may or may not help to add some more depth to the jungle...more atmosphere, receding in less detail, or less saturation as the jungle goes up, back, or further away. For example, the forground elements on the right have the same value range, contrast, and saturation as the left side, on quick glance, it's hard to tell where things end or meet.

Doesn't hinder the fact it's a fantastic idea and painting so far, heh. So keep it up!! Sure looks like a fun one to work on.

09-26-2005, 01:08 AM
I agree with Tonsen's comments... But I guess this is still far from it's finished state, and I'm sure you got a lot more stuff planned for the pic. Goodluck!

09-26-2005, 02:01 AM
definately a wonderfull start! love the mood of it and the cool details i can already see! keep it up mate, this is goin to be just awesome!

09-26-2005, 02:46 AM
I love it!

I think you ought to roll as far as you can with this one. I think you should "build" primative wood structures all over the hull of the sub as though it's been covered in barnacles and corals. I think that would further add to the irony of the ship being above water.

09-26-2005, 02:57 AM
my goodness,no doubt, its blaz.looking really good so far, keep playing around with the details on the forest,u could make the submarine alil more stand out as it looks alil too blend in with the background colors.amazing mood overall, definitely captured the feeling in the forest.very spectacular indeed:thumbsup:

09-26-2005, 03:59 AM
... it's looking a little flat in some areas. It may or may not help to add some more depth to the jungle...

He beat me to it. I was going to say the same things about the area in the bottom third around the central boulder. Could use some darker shadows.

Very nice work.

09-26-2005, 07:12 AM
I'm liking this one, good job so far, I can't wait to see it finnished. Tonsen has some good comments, try to push the contrast to help make the the major shapes more defined try to get some areas to have 100%black in em.

09-26-2005, 07:14 AM
it looks great... I'm not shure it it's spectacular enough, but i'm shure you'll work on that :) Since there's gonna be monkeys discovering this submarine... what if there were people on it too... just as scared of the first contact as the monkeys?

09-26-2005, 03:58 PM
hello Blaz!

Do you remember when I sad that germam sub isn't so spectacular ... well I went through other entrys, and I realized/know that you can make this look spectaculary. Nice colours and atmosphere!

Sub is full of gold? Why dont you make wrecked sub, that we could see this gold ?

09-26-2005, 04:21 PM
I was just thinking, maybe it would give a more dramatic effect if you slightly tilted the submarine to one side, just a thought tho.

09-26-2005, 04:24 PM
Excellent work so far! I'd suggest to improve the dramatic effect even further by adding the effect of the "volumetric lighting", ie lightrays that penetrate through the tree tops and are visible thanks to the heavy, foggy air...

09-26-2005, 06:56 PM
Hi Porenta!

After a great sketch production you finally decided, gooooooood, the coloring wip is going wonderful!! keep it up!!:buttrock:

09-27-2005, 06:36 AM
Work has very much liked!
Atmosphere, color, idea,
And it would be desirable to visit this gorge...
Success  :)

09-27-2005, 07:20 AM
whoah!:) great details!:)

09-27-2005, 08:09 AM
Tis looking quite spectacular now....:applause:

09-27-2005, 06:09 PM
huh! thnx for such a support guyz and girls! U r the best :bounce:

FrozZT: monkeys coming right away.. the sketches of them r already present in a new version. thnx!

Tonsen: great comment! I'll do more on that later than, bring some more hue to some parts of the pic and make it more contrast in the front. thnx a lot man!

ahbeejieh: it is far from being finished, true.. :) thnx for stopping by and posting ur thoughts!

the1st_angel: thnx buddy!

2tacos99cents: not a bad idea, I'll consider about it (primative wood structures). thnx!

sh@ke: I'll work more on the sub for sure. Right now, Ive just started playing with trees on the left top part of the image. Moooooore to come :) thnx for such a nice compliment!

ChrisThatGuy: will do more on that. thnx!

tAsty BITs: hmm... I wont do 100% black, coz that kind of black doesnt exist in nature (just in a space with absolute no light). But I'll sure do more contrast here and there. thnx!

Geci: heh, I'll do my best to bring it to spectacular... well, Im sure I'll manage that, but it also depends from person to person whats consider as spectacular :) thnx for stopping by! I'll see about ppl on a sub, nice suggestion.

izisilver: Im not sure if there is a need for gold anymore... we'll see :) and this has to be spectacular! hehe.. thnx

Rudeone: to one side? so it wouldnt be on the middle of that "canyon"? I hope I understood u right..

Big D: volumetric lighting will come at the end, when I'll have all the details done. I have in mind this yes, but thnx anyway for mentioning it. Thats just a prove that I was thinking well :) There will be also some mist and everything.. after all its just after the big splash, hehe..

Gus_clifton: thnx buddy!

LexLe: thnx for stopping by man!

davidness: thnx man!

element5: and a big thnx to u too for poping in my thread :)

09-27-2005, 06:34 PM
Rudeone: to one side? so it wouldnt be on the middle of that "canyon"? I hope I understood u right..

No I meant slightly tilted on his side, like the sub is leaning to one side, know what I mean?
It's not that important tho, so forget it haha :D

09-27-2005, 08:21 PM
yes, I get it now :) very useful suggestion, I'll see what can be done and how it can be done, hehe... thnx!

09-27-2005, 08:39 PM
Nice concept you have going here, Very cute with the bamboo idea! I am loving the image already good luck with it!

09-27-2005, 10:40 PM
Hi, I am new here.. I think you have done the right thing deciding to work on the submarine sketch after all, it is by far the best.. Good luck!

09-29-2005, 07:10 AM (

as lot of u mentioned, there were some problems reading the depth of a pic. I hope that this new version improved that. and some more details and elements added in the back... still lots of work all over the image :)

09-29-2005, 11:35 AM
Excellent idea!
It were seemed to me on one of the previous sketches small figures of people... I think, their all can be left. good luck !

09-29-2005, 11:55 AM
that is looking very good so far. is the submarine on somehing ro is it gliding through the air?... it loks like it is floating to em is all

09-29-2005, 12:54 PM
nice stuff. I like the texture in this one. Put in some scale references!

09-29-2005, 12:59 PM
Greetings Blaz! :)
If it is a submarine of times of the second world war
Moreover besides Fascist Germany,
That I think, that is necessary a little bit the historical truth:
(To look as looked a submarine of that time - appearance)
And to go then on this way...
And that very modern submarine... I think as aerials, cables and a handrail by this time have already decayed..
I consider that there is no rust on the case...
I think you you will not take offence for my constructive criticism
And so work very much is pleasant to me!
Excuse for my bad English

09-29-2005, 02:03 PM
Hey Blaz... looking really good now you've started working the details into the scenery. Are you still going to have the teeny people alog the bottom, or has that been scrubbed? The sub is looking very impressive though. Can't wait to see more!

09-29-2005, 07:35 PM
Im giving you a tip. Hope it will be usefull.

About the submarine hilite. Dont do the hilite at the top most part of the ship. It is making it look flat. Avoid the shading directly at the top. Do the hilite slightly lower to keep the ship rounded.

No other tips this time! Hope you finish this one

09-29-2005, 09:02 PM
Hey Blaz.
Your colors and textures are looking real good. One thing, though. I dont get the sense of the sub perched up on something. It looks more like it is floating . In fact, at first I thought this was an undersea shot. with the sub navigating a trench. Maybe because it looks stable. If it was at an awkward angle it might be more effective or even if it was more on its side. I think you should also give some indication of what it is resting on.

Your lighting and composition look great and I like the waterfalls. I think this will be a very cool piece.

09-29-2005, 09:06 PM
what about a second light source? the green is wonderful and vivid, but shouldn't the airthingy be exspected by someone or something like that... ^^;

very well so far! good luck!!

10-02-2005, 12:23 AM (

hi there! Im back, and here is another small update. I'd like to thank every single one of u, to take time and posted some very usefull suggestions. I'll reply to u soon, but now just before I go to bed, another submission.
I did some more details in the background, still have been playing with the depth of the pic, added contrast and as u probably noticed, I slightly changed the design of the submarine. I hope for the better... more to come! and thnx a lot once again! :)

10-02-2005, 12:59 AM
As you said, more to come. I send you extra energy and patiente hehe. Good submarine design, much better. And how if you put trunks or stronge branches under the submarine? Now it looks like´s flying but, anyway, you are working in process:D . Good dreams and see ya tomorrow:thumbsup:

10-02-2005, 09:16 AM
I think there are 3 spots on the compo that may be hurting the piece a little, but not a major porblem, that is if you want to make the focus on the sub, Maybe try to make those light areas darker not with as much contrast as the sub, don't know if it will change anything, I will have to see it, holla!:D

10-02-2005, 09:22 AM
thnx gonzalo! well, I have a slow process and Im not rushing anywhere, so at this point its not clearly seen how it will be at the end :) Submarine will be with more details, will have more elements around (will use some references to do so) and it will be hanging on some trees, branches and lianas. But its pointless if I paint those elements right away, coz I would repaint them during the process working on background. So... first background.. than submarine and branches and lianas (middle plan), than first plan trees and stuf.. and finally at the end, last touchups, like mists sunrays, birds, etc.

beelow: I agree with u! Im trying to correct that... at the moment Im doing mostly on lights and shadows. I realised that pic dont need to be photorealistic detailed if it has proper and believable light and shadow, it looks more real. So, hnx for noticing me. I'll see what can I do... Im still learning during each painting process :)

10-02-2005, 04:58 PM (

and so I started working on the sub some more....

10-02-2005, 05:31 PM
You're developing some gorgeous textures and depth Blaz! Smashing! How about some misty light though dust type effects... you know, beams of light... :)

Greetings the friend!
Whoah! ! It is class! I think that now there are no details, details and once again details:) Which will soon...:)
Anchor, torpedo sluice (excuse too it round), rivets on a covering, rusts in fact the ship that old and is in South America :)
Class work! Very much, very class
Excuse for bad English
Yours faithfully

 Great work Blaz....

Great atmosphere and feeling of being somewhere isolated where this submarine has come to rest. Lots of detail whilst retaining a real feeling of space. Love the lighting / shadows across the front of the sub and floor areas.

I look forward to seeing how the additional vines, etc. will help make the sub look like it is caught / suspended above the ground. You could always add some hull damage to show that this is definitley a wreck. I see scale was mentioned and I see how some scale references may help, though the composition already does give a feeling of size and height.

Keep up the great work!! :applause:

hi everyone and special thnx to MrFreeman, LexLe and Aly! and ofcors all others not from before :)

Once again I will slightly change the concept, and this time I'll explain the secret of a bermuda triangle! yes.. From this pic will be seen where all those plains, ships and stuff actually go, when we think that they disapeared. What will I do is, that I'll paint the sea as if its a wall, the surface of the sea will be put vertically. It will be like its a point where 2 dimensions meet each other, and that submarine is about to cross the border. In the background there will be still sea, a deep blue with fishes and stuff, but in the front the submarine will entering into a jungle. Well, its very hard for me to exlain whats going on in my head at the moment, but I'll try to present that in a very short time :) I think thats the most spectacular concept that is going on in my head right now.. hehe

10-04-2005, 08:56 PM
wow, thats just awesome! im stunned by the sure brilliance of this piece! its just so beautiful. i just love the thing. thanks for making my day.

10-04-2005, 10:39 PM (

this is a quick realisation of my latest idea, explained a post higher. Just to see a color scheme and gradient between water and jungle. And I think I'll use two light sources, for better visual effect.

10-05-2005, 12:28 AM
Very beautiful ! This is a winner !

10-05-2005, 01:34 AM
very very cool attemp. I already can see things that vanished in the past like a spanish galeon or even a viking ship, a nice collection hehe, maybe airplanes, and put some signs of "having been under water" on them like shells, seagrass... i already can see it... the wall like the stargate, some vertical surface, where things drop in - oh shoot, that was flipper :p

sorry, couldn't resist, very cool idea, instantly dig it, keep up the great work, your progress rocks! :buttrock: :buttrock: :buttrock:

10-05-2005, 02:00 AM
It is lookin' really cool. I like the mood of your scene. you are very talented!

Good luck!

10-05-2005, 03:08 AM
awesome updates~i'm overwhelmed with the details and the thought u have put into this piece~prefered the one in jungle though:)great stuff~keep updating mate.

10-05-2005, 07:05 AM
That's a great idea for the change of the concept story. I wonder how are you going to realise the "two perpendicular sea surfaces" scene... I'm glad that the concept has developed so far!

10-05-2005, 11:35 AM
Hi Blaz! Yes abrupt change of the story(concept)! Has nicely thought up! Has visited gorge:) And now Bermuda triangle-super! It is pleasant to me.. Successes! :)

10-05-2005, 10:35 PM
Thnx for visiting and all the backup folx!
This change of story and whole concept brings me to conclusion, that the perspective and camera angle should be something more unusual as this is. So, It could be that I'll start from the scratch once again, coz I really like that latest concept and I think its better than everything Ive shown till now. So tomorrow I'll draw a sketch or lineart for additional image.

the1st_angel: thnx man! I was thinking myself of something like stargate, but more transparent.

sh@ke: the jungle stays, it just has been brought to a higher level ;) hehe.. I hope. Thnx for popping in!

Big D: Im asking that myself, how will I do it.. but till the 5th of the December, all that will be known :D

LexLe: thnx for stoping by buddy!

cyberarts, maurodelia: thnx to both of u for sharing ur thoughts!

10-05-2005, 10:56 PM
Great new updates Blaz, I like the slight changes you did in the sub.
Your new concept sounds very interesting, are you going to put in more ship- and planewrecks? an old rusty WW2 japanese fighterplane wreck would be awesome.

10-06-2005, 08:22 AM
Nice concept, and nice ideakeep at it,holla!

10-06-2005, 06:10 PM
I like the new concept ... looks like you did some thinking about spectaculary of the painting ... great!

10-08-2005, 09:15 PM (

thnx for the support guys! and what do u think about this camera angle? a deep canyon and lots of ship and plane wrecks down there... like a junkyard. Comments r more than just welcome :)

10-08-2005, 09:40 PM
The craft and the jungle are very good, as I may or may not have mentioned before (damn my memory). Interesting new layout, although I think the perspective is a bit forced. Looking forward to more updates.

10-09-2005, 12:28 AM
As I said in my thread, go on! you´ll do an excellent work:) I was thinking about the submarine...perhaps I´m talking too soon cause you´re changing the composition but how if you turn the perspective of the submarine and put the front part nearer to the viewer?Anyway love your wonderful technique:thumbsup:

10-09-2005, 12:35 PM
Hi NinjaASSN. Your paint so far looks amazing, but i'm curious what's hapemming at th end?. Are you going to put something else?..... looking forward for new updates.

xbo :scream:

10-10-2005, 09:37 AM
Nothing to crit really on this picture. Just congratulations. MAybe you can add some contrast on some part of the picture but we're in submarine mode so....

10-10-2005, 05:48 PM (

while there is still plenty of time for painting process, I decided to give a try with another camera angle.. Im not very comfortable with present one. although u say that it looks ok. I just think it could be even more spectacular. So, there r two rough quick sketches, couple od minutes for each, to present 2 alternative views. One is from below and another from above submarine. which one do u think its better? or should I stay with the one that Im painting now?
Please, help me with the decision. I personaly vote for the one that the viewer is below the sub. thnx in advance!

10-10-2005, 05:53 PM
Agree with you, hehe, the second. I imagine the viewer looking at the great submarine between huge trees and you can add planes or some different machines between those trees, like a lost place :) Go for it!

10-10-2005, 07:21 PM
:hmm: Which one to choose...tricky...I love the top view as you see more of the ship, but the second adds to the scale.... good to see some great alternative ideas...really dynamic.

make enough angles / images and you could even animate it???!!! Yep maybe I've lost the plot slightly...

Great work Blaz (the second sketch works for me) :applause:

10-10-2005, 08:54 PM
IMO the first new sketch works best cause you get a great overview of the whole scene, the second is more dramatic and maybe more spectacular, but if it was up to me I would stick with the original cause it kinda has the same abillities of both your new sketches, but whatever you choose they all work great.
Definitly yes to the junkyard!!!

10-10-2005, 09:10 PM
The upper sketch is more straightforward and tells the story "the easy way". That's IMHO making it less interesting. The lower one, on the contrary, goes to another extreme - it is more difficult to see the submarine as such from that angle, it could be a zeppelin or something to a viewer... They are both very good sketches but I think the preceeding concept is much better. I'd only eventually mirror it horizontally; the change of the concept to show more interesting stuff down there would create a new, secondary area of interest plus a psychological composition line between the submarine and the deep stuff - and it is advisable to guide the viewer's antention from left to right and not vice versa. Just my humble opinion.

Drugace, kot kaze, odlicno ti gre!

10-10-2005, 09:35 PM
Hi Blaz, I prefer the upper one. Just because it spells it out a bit more plainly is no reason not to go with it, and I think the bottom one, while more dynamic, is a bit cryptic (a zeppelin and a gondola?). In the top one, you can make out an aircraft, ship etc.

Plus you can have monkeys in the foreground vines. :applause:

10-10-2005, 09:44 PM
Oh, I change my opinion and agree with the others heheh, after saw your sketches again, I prefer the first one. The way you put the sea so we can watch better the submarine, breaking the traditional dimensions:thumbsup:

10-11-2005, 08:08 AM
I'm for the first one... Its much more clear... The submarine on the second looks like a zeppelin :D

PS: my girlfriend saw you drawing this on alu... nice to see what you've done :)

10-11-2005, 09:54 AM
Greetings Blaz! :)
If you have decided to change a corner of a composition that I consider, that the second sketch is better! Only the corner of the camera needs to be put still below and a composition of a leaf to make not horizontal and vertical
And it is more than ships and planes on a bottom:)
But it only my opinion:)
It is pleasant!
Excuse for my bad English
Good luck!

10-11-2005, 01:15 PM
hi Mr. Porenta! Well I prefer the lowest cam shot, because it turns the elements bigger, gives an amplitude sensation! Anyway, both views are good and you´re doing fine!:buttrock:

10-12-2005, 09:02 AM
Hi! I like the first sketch very much! It seems to me that the first sketch is unusual and easy to remember! It makes a strong impression on me! Good luck!

10-12-2005, 09:17 AM
Try a camera angle from almost stright above, too.

The sub would be lying on a high ledge in a dried
out sea (there could be some water still left, way
down below) and some explorers would be approaching
it from above hanging on ropes. There could be '
wooden platforms hanging from ropes too, onto
which the explorers would place in items they'd find.

Also, the sub might have a huge tear in its side,
showing stuff inside, like the treasures you mentioned

10-18-2005, 01:19 PM
awesome concepts as usual...i vote for looking up.....

10-18-2005, 08:12 PM
first sketch for me. I think it communicates well wtih the viewers, where the second one is kinda hard to tell what it is.:D

10-21-2005, 07:13 AM
Wooooohooooooo Nijasssaaaaaaaan

Go Ninja Go Ninja Go

Haha Can't Wait To See The Final

Good Luck

10-22-2005, 05:44 PM
great work, it is really spectacular.

Upam, da zmagaš

10-22-2005, 07:58 PM (

Hi folx! Ive been missing for a while due to lots of work I have and school ofcors. First of all, I'd like to thank all of u for staying in touch, and for ur kind words and crits. I'll take time soon to reply to every single one of u show some respect for ur effort :)

U r probably asking urself what am I still doing with this pic and why upgrading it? Well, I decided that I'll finish this piece as well, while its somehow half finished already and I really dont have much time for this challenge, so it would be risky to completely change the whole image.

But I also decided, that this will be my school project for painting classes, and I'll made a series of 3 paintings for this theme (submarine entering a bermuda triangle). So I'll finish both of alternative angles later than.
I hope u dont mind if I'll go on with this one for now and thnx once again!

10-22-2005, 08:02 PM (

just a closeup (about 40% of full size I think) for showing some details of the junlge. This part is still not finished, but just to show u how I work :)

10-22-2005, 11:03 PM
wow! great development, i really like it.
so far my vote for you

10-22-2005, 11:33 PM
I feel you on that! Yeah right now I am trying to get ready to graduate from school and have a reel to put together as I am not happy with the stuff that I have as of now. I will probably just throw one together as of now and work on a better one later! So, I am forced to work on different stuff, all the time! My woman at home doesn't help much neither, if u know what I mean, but anyways I like that you are sticking with the old one. I love the amount of detail that you have in this image, Great stuff, dude, good luck!

10-23-2005, 12:15 PM
The boat in the foreground which is closest detracts from the image... I think you should just have debre of boats on the floor! Good luck!

10-23-2005, 12:33 PM
Hey! looking good!
That close up actually made a better picture in my mind, but hey you havent still finished the bottom part

Be careful with the pointy hilite up front it is making the front look like pin thin. If its supposed to be slightly roundish. Move the hilite away from the edge.

You already made the hull look a lot rounder. Good work.

Have fun!:)

10-25-2005, 07:31 AM (

Thnx for comments! In the evening I'll take time to reply to ur posts and ur threads. And for now, just before I go to school, Im submiting this quick idea I got.

10-25-2005, 01:13 PM
The ppl and the birds gave the image alot more life, its got a real adventureous feel to it!
I agree with Mason about the boat. It takes up to much room and doesnt give enough to the image, hope im not to picky :p! Maybe just make a piece of it stick out from the bottom right.. I think you've got a great image going on!

10-26-2005, 06:30 PM (

So I changed the boat on the right side. I hope its less disturbing now. And I still need something in the very first plan, to show the scale and perspective as good as I can. Any suggestions what to put there? I was thinking od some sort of ship mast or something... something that will not call for too much attention.

10-26-2005, 06:46 PM
Waaataaaa!!!(lee´s screaming:thumbsup: )good evening Blaz!Very very good, impressive job!I was thinking about the boat under the submarine. These ones (and don´t know why hehe)reminds me to a whale with the mouth open:DPerhaps this fact could be disturbing.... or perhaps isn´t hehe. Only a personal point of view cause this hole composition rocks!:)

10-26-2005, 07:47 PM
Birds and those ropes really make a huge difference in your picture. Theyre bringing out the scale wonderfully.

I also liked that version with slightly more light in the picture. My crappy monitor cant handle black tones that well. Nothing special to help you out. Just hope you find time to work on it.

Thanx for the visit on my thread :D

10-27-2005, 07:23 AM
THat submarine looks WICKED
Love the detailing so far and the feeling of the underwater discovery. Really can't wait to see this done. Thanks for dropping by me thread mate.

Keep it up and will check back again :applause: :applause:
