09 September 2005, 02:08 PM (

this is the idea:
man has given life to a robot which carries out the cycle of human life, ending a pregnancy by acting as an incubator. The robot can feel maternal feelings and from its evolved intelligence a sense of revenge of motherhood could emerge. This event is spectacular because it hits and puzzles at the same time.
The evolution process is so overturned that we could think about an inverted creation process, where man is generated by robots.

09 September 2005, 02:14 PM
Hi guys! After two days during which i've been thinking of some intersting ideas, at last i was inspired...

soon i'll show you a colored sketch!

09 September 2005, 02:25 PM
A "living incubator". That's a nice idea. I am keen on seeing more :)

09 September 2005, 02:49 PM
Interesting and frightening idea. What are your thoughts on a background environment?

09 September 2005, 03:10 PM
at the beginning i thought to collocate the robot on a confortable sofa..but at the moment i'm not sure of this..I also like an asectic location..

09 September 2005, 03:58 PM (

hi all..
now i'm modelling a simple woman body to import in Zbrush..tham i'll refine and transform it in a robot.

09 September 2005, 05:17 PM

09 September 2005, 11:28 AM

09 September 2005, 08:36 AM
thank bahman :) ..

For Niki: Ciao..sei italiana vero?

09 September 2005, 08:59 AM
That is a relly great concept and idea. If you can make it the same gentle, expecting pose as in the sketch it will be a nice mood for it I think. Really good start, I will follow

09 September 2005, 10:29 AM
For Niki: Ciao..sei italiana vero?

si! ..sono pugliese :)

waiting for more updates ..kee it up!

09 September 2005, 05:32 PM (

09 September 2005, 05:44 AM

09 September 2005, 12:44 PM (

now i'm modelling the head..

09 September 2005, 01:40 PM
hey superslug,

really interesting concept, but i just wanted to comment on how good your head model is, i know its only a wip but the propoertions are really good, obviously lots to detail but the shape and proportion is real nice....any chance of some wires..

keep up the good work I look foreward to seeing how it develops..

09 September 2005, 06:00 PM (

wip head..

09 September 2005, 09:11 PM
Hi superslug. Congrats really clean Mesh.
I'll keep 2 eyes on your work.

xbo :argh:

09 September 2005, 02:20 AM
interesting idea, and scary too. hmm, does the robot have to eat as well i would think?

09 September 2005, 08:17 AM
looking good. waiting for updates. :bounce:

09 September 2005, 08:23 AM
Really nice, and thanks for sharing your topology, it's impressive.

I wonder if that girl has any idea how many times she's been modelled in 3d? :) Looks like your the man to do her justice though. Great work.

09 September 2005, 01:08 PM (

wip robot..

09 September 2005, 01:11 PM (

wireframe of the wip robot..

09 September 2005, 01:17 PM
Awesome modelling here. The topology is excellent all I can say that you'r doing perfect job on that body.

09 September 2005, 01:27 PM
thank guys!

now i'm going in Zbrush to refine the model..

09 September 2005, 01:56 PM
Hey superslug, this is your first entry in a cgtalk challenge? Where have you been friend? You and your work are very welcome here. Great work.

09 September 2005, 01:57 PM
Very good modeling. I can't remember ever managing to make a decent ear

How do you plan to get the "robot look" on a single-skin mesh?

09 September 2005, 02:14 PM
i like the modeling, but the concept is almost identical to an image a friend of mine made
she is called niki, i think she posted on your thread, but in italian, so i didn't understand

09 September 2005, 02:24 PM
Nice concept. The model also is very good, good work so far.

09 September 2005, 05:33 PM (

some test with zbrush..

09 September 2005, 10:38 AM (

this is the head of my robot..without cyborg component.

09 September 2005, 11:10 AM
looking good, but i think the eyes are to close to eachother ... ;)

09 September 2005, 11:21 AM
Nice start but I hope to see the next
great job:applause:

09 September 2005, 05:11 PM (

a little test with antropus skin shader..:-)

09 September 2005, 05:57 PM
Hi superslug. I agrre with Mac again. The eyes are a little bit to close. But Mac we need to keep the concept. I think should be ok like that. May be she's sad.

What do you say superslug?. Do you want to keep that Mom sad or happy. If you want to make happy, i think to need to open her eyes more.

Glad to see your nice work.

xbo :scream:

09 September 2005, 08:00 PM
Great work superslug, cool shader.. keep it on!

09 September 2005, 10:42 AM
thank you all guys for your opinions..

Nemirc: i'have planned to put some cables on the back of the head
there will be also some soft joints on the body.... to get a cyborg-like look.

kotsos: even if the subject is the same... i think that the concept is cyborg give life to a human baby not to another robot.. the inspiration came from the matrix series and from asimov's books...i've seen the image of nikki and i think is very nice... but i tryin' to give to my cyborg a little more of human look.
there are only some cables inserted on the skin.... i dont want to put any metal element...

Mac_andre/ 2xbo: now the robot have a neutral facial expression..later i'll shape the expression.... so i dont worrying to much on the eyes...she'll have some kind of sweetness on her face.

10 October 2005, 02:25 PM
Wow, che bravo!

... parliamo l'inglese, this really looks interesting, and I want to see the cable thing.

She will have human skin or an artificial skin look like I Robot and Ghost in the Shell Innocence? the white plastic look?

The test with antropus skin shader looks great!

See Ya

i'm modelling the mecanism of my cyborg..this is a wip test

10 October 2005, 10:42 AM
Hey superslug. Looking great so far, her face is so soft and nurturing, I think you really hit the nail on the head there. I love your concept too, will be keeping an eye on this thread ;)

10 October 2005, 03:23 PM (

wip head

10 October 2005, 04:27 PM
She reminds me of TRON :D

10 October 2005, 04:39 PM
This is an incredible face model. My only crits are that the hole in the ear that leads to the ear drum on your ear should not be where you have it... Also, the bottom lip of the character seems a bit large, but I guess some person out that may have a large bottom lip so I'll let that slide ;) Good work so far!

10 October 2005, 02:45 PM (

this is a part of the my robot a wip

10 October 2005, 02:56 PM
Wow, nice mechanism on her head, very well modeled! keep it up!

10 October 2005, 01:46 PM
It looks nice to me. Good topology and great idea

10 October 2005, 02:07 PM
Really cool. I love the button, (what do you call it?) above the ear. Keep up the good work

10 October 2005, 04:45 PM (

head and nek mechanism..

10 October 2005, 04:49 PM
thanks all for the comments and suggestions!

10 October 2005, 12:15 AM
how about you show us a back view? :)

10 October 2005, 06:05 AM
Hi, cool concept and nice modeling :)
Waiting to see more electronic parts on that model:thumbsup:

10 October 2005, 06:18 AM
the technical parts of the body looking very good. i think the mix between the organic and the technical part of the body is well ballanced.
imo the ear looks a little bit flat in the moment, but i think you will fix this... ;)

10 October 2005, 10:18 AM
For Nemirc:
since i'm planning to render from the front i didn't modeled much the back. It's not suposed to be seen...

thanks all for suggestion...

10 October 2005, 10:25 AM
Excellent idea, and i very much I love such themes, success!

10 October 2005, 04:30 PM (

this is the belly of my robot

10 October 2005, 04:38 PM
cool modelling, the gap in the stomach reminds me of kris's machineflesh entry! very neat mnodelling!

10 October 2005, 06:19 PM
This is looking good. I'm picturing a this will look great on the cover of TIME magazine. :)

10 October 2005, 07:23 PM
Heya Tomasso, very nice concept. Great progress so far, making good impression already. Good luck for the challenge.

10 October 2005, 12:20 AM
modeling is very good man! and the concept is too, wow, ill be watching your thread for updates, youre doing it very nice:thumbsup:

10 October 2005, 01:47 AM
The face will hold alot of the expression, but don't forget that the whole body communicates.

Actors often ask "What's my motivation?" You know the robot's motivation. I'm sure that you'l be going through facial settings for some time.

Might I suggest Michangelo's Pieta.

Good luck

10 October 2005, 07:07 PM
Excellent idea and great modeling at this time !

10 October 2005, 05:03 PM (

i'm adding a particulars to my robot with zbrush

10 October 2005, 03:17 PM (

i'm studing the final pose

10 October 2005, 03:38 PM
This is your first entry??? I think you are making a veryyyyy good image.

Good luck, friend

10 October 2005, 03:51 PM
Are those subdivs or do you subdivide the model after skinning?

10 October 2005, 04:47 PM
thank ilusiondigital ;-)

for nemirc: no the model in this image is a simple poligon version..i'll subdivide it later

10 October 2005, 05:38 PM
Lookin good. for you positioning I was thinking you should have her right hand sort of under the bellie about 7 o'clock(like shes holding it) and her left hand at about 2 o'clock. just enough not to block the bellie, this might give the robot more of a mother quality. Keep going!

10 October 2005, 07:12 PM
I like your concept, good luck!

10 October 2005, 08:48 PM

Awesome model you dit here! Great meshanic design & the the idea is also very great!

Good luck
Cheers  Alex

10 October 2005, 09:00 AM
Hello Tommaso, your work is going just great, very good job mate.

10 October 2005, 06:10 AM
the modelling looks great. i disagree with where you took the composition tho. i felt as tho the original 2d sketch was a brilliant way to present the concept. the solitude of the mother and child was spectacular in its own sense. this composition with the cables and standing upright has less emotion and it looks like your presenting the model as the focus of the images spectacularity (is that a word?). whereas the original 2d sketch had the pose/rawness as its stronger feature and the model itself just icing on the cake. my favorite runner so far for the 3d challenge. good luck.

11 November 2005, 12:45 PM (

Love the posing and bg.
Nothing to crit really. Maybe a lower point of view, just to test. But you maybe have already test it.

11 November 2005, 05:18 PM

so clean and so perfect... yap, I would call that spectacular:)

but I agree with authentic that you can try some lower camera angle.
good luck!

11 November 2005, 11:01 AM
Wow Tommaso! this is already a really striking piece, the pose, the environment and the render all balance the piece well... I must say that her hands could be a little more delicate... not tiny or anything... they just look a little less than feminine to my eye atm... Once again... Stunning:thumbsup: Rock on:buttrock:

11 November 2005, 04:11 PM
Nice lighting! Reminds me of the Master and Servant winner, though...

11 November 2005, 11:19 PM
i believe this piece is going to win Something or/and be published on one of the next books....Amazing:thumbsup:

11 November 2005, 11:22 PM
excellent Tommaso !
This should be great !
Texturing now !

11 November 2005, 05:43 AM
Hello there ;)

I have to say that for some reason that environment feels a little out of place. It feels like she's there isolated from the rest of the wo rld for no reason...

11 November 2005, 05:43 AM
Man, I´m just passionated by the last image. Really, I was looking at your thread on the begining of the process, I thought that it was quite interesting an inteligent idea and decided to keep my eye here. You really reaches some beautiful work. I wish you very good lucky.

11 November 2005, 11:51 AM
wow , nice idea !
Good luck !

11 November 2005, 09:36 AM

11 November 2005, 11:26 AM
ur character modeling looks good buddy.keep it up:thumbsup:

11 November 2005, 05:42 PM
Good Job. I like your modeling.
One thing, make more pipes. She could look more spectacular: a woman, who is happy even if she is completly crushed by machines.
We want to see the next.

11 November 2005, 07:12 PM
Excellent work with posing and modeling, cant wait for texturing also:bounce:

11 November 2005, 05:25 PM
Hi Tommaso, it's good to meet you. This is a fantastic model! And your concept is intriguing too. Kind of like Metropolis x 180.

The expression on her face reminds me of Leonardo's "Madona With Child". Sublime and cryptic -- very well done!!

If you have a moment, I just posted my statue model as a WIP today. I would greatly appreciate any advice you'd care to give me.

11 November 2005, 06:42 PM
it gives me feeling of quiet and peacefull place, I like it

11 November 2005, 03:51 AM
nice lighting mate~i kinda like the grainy effects.goodluck in the challenge:thumbsup:

11 November 2005, 07:22 AM
wow your work is awesome.great concept,light,model..i'm waiting for the final picture

11 November 2005, 08:48 AM
I love your idea and the general mood of the image...

11 November 2005, 12:51 PM
Very iconic image. Gives the feel of Bjork's AIFOL video. I also like the room environment. It has the womblike feel of Ridley Scott's "mother" in "Alien".
Is the abdominal shell going to be transparent?...

Man! the more I think about your image as I'm writing this the more I'm loving it!

11 November 2005, 02:10 PM
Great modelling and lighting dude.Looking forward to more updates.

11 November 2005, 08:07 PM
