This is a quick concept image. I have used 3d studio max for generating my concept, cause my sketching sucks.

According to my concept the character is trying to escape as cops are searching for him. He finds a very narrow and a risky way to pass from one side of the mountain to the other side, suddenly a police chopper finds him and starts firing on him, because of gun firing the ropes break apart and the guy looses his balance and he is just about to fall down.

In this scene I am trying to create a tension, Character's expression, his fear, he is not sure wether he he will survive or he will die, he might survive if he goes down through trees or if he falls in the river, he might also die because of continious firing, but right now he his in middle of life and death.

09-08-2005, 05:48 AM
The top image looks excellent! Where you going to do both images as one piece, or trying to decide between the two? Either way, I think you only need to do the top one, it gets everything across perfectly.

09-08-2005, 05:49 AM
Good way Roshan... terribly "movie"... we feel well the action and the tension... best wishes for you mate

09-08-2005, 05:56 AM
Good idea. I'd try and get a POV with a closer look of the character falling. I can see the reflection of the chopper and the rope bridge in his eyes. And the horror at the realization of his doom! Goodluck!

09-08-2005, 07:08 AM
Nichod: I agree with you may be little more closer look might make the scene look better.

Lemog: Thanx for replying, It is an honour for me. I will try my best to make a good scene.

Runefall: Actually first I was going to work only for the top scene, but now i am thinking of craeting two images as one piece, I really don't know, First camera angle definetly works I guess?

09-08-2005, 07:43 AM
seems to be a good one...

09-08-2005, 07:55 AM
The top one looks great and has a very effective cinematic look. Just go for it!

09-08-2005, 08:17 AM

quote; totally agree !

09-08-2005, 11:07 AM

09-08-2005, 11:09 AM
Nice start, good luck

09-11-2005, 12:03 AM
Hi! :)

Nice concept... can be really spectacular:thumbsup: ... the top one is the good...perhaps change a little the camera, to see the ground(or river) in the background.... i don't know if your understand what i want to see.
Just my opinion!

I'm waiting to see more!

Good luck for this challenge!!

:) gpepper, JamesMK, Jddog, tony, Kid mesh and superxcm Thanx for all the suggestions. I think i will go with camera shot 1 with little more perspective and depth and if I find time I will give camerashot2 a try.

Once again thanx for all the replies

09-14-2005, 07:45 AM
That's start well mate... I'm speechless about this head, very impressive... good character and personality... respect man, I appreciate really much your modeling

09-14-2005, 08:03 AM
Great looking head there!

The lips look a bit "tight" somehow, but that's the only thing I find looking a bit off... and after all it might make sense for this character anyway, so I'm not even sure it's a problem to be honest.

09-14-2005, 08:07 AM
yeah, nice head model, attrackts me ina a sudden,i think lips and eyes are a bit off!

09-14-2005, 08:11 AM
Lemog: Thanx dude for kind words:)

JamesMK: Are the lips looking really tight, well in that case I will try to fix, well actually the expression of the character will be changed, it will be more like fear.:)

09-14-2005, 08:12 AM
right, head is cool :)

09-14-2005, 08:49 AM
(o)ne: Thanx dude:)

Madlight_1988: well I think I need to do a little work on the eye and lips area, actually I have used a reference picture for modeling as my base. Any ways I will try to fix it.:)

09-14-2005, 09:15 AM
modeling looks pretty good but u have 2 work on nose, lips and the ears.

09-14-2005, 10:26 AM

SONIC-X, jddog, Ahmed Hosny, Ramtin_moom, yunisirees, visualact.com, gardogg Thanx guys for big support. I have already started modeling the torso portion and will upload it certainly.

09-15-2005, 04:18 PM
your dude here look very nice ! congrats :wip:

09-15-2005, 04:23 PM
Yes... as JDD, congrats Roshan, very efficient modeling... I love these clothes, only point, the pockets seem perhaps already too deformed on the sides, and enough flat compared to the shape of the jacket. Anyway, that works very well

09-15-2005, 04:24 PM
Yeah great modeling here... the head look really cool.. and the start of the body look cool too!

09-15-2005, 06:19 PM
jddog, SuperXCM: Thanx:)

Lemog: Yeah you are right, I think I must make it little more pluffy. Actually it is a leather jacket. Thanx for suggestion dude:thumbsup:

09-15-2005, 08:04 PM
...Actually it is a leather jacket.
Good point for you, it's exactly what I've imagined...

Sabrina&rattle thanx for encouraging words:)

09-19-2005, 09:58 AM
Hey ! Cool job Roshan ! these clothes look nice !

09-19-2005, 11:49 AM
Nice, i'm at a similar stage of development myself.

I reckon you could do with giving him a slightly wider waist and maybe try raising the legs into the torso as the crotch looks a bit low...

Good work,

09-19-2005, 12:21 PM
Cool modeling mad. Keep it up and good luck to you

09-19-2005, 12:41 PM
Very better for the pockets, but maybe some folds on it... that give us visually something more flexible, smoothy...
...the trousers are superb, nothing to add, just GOOOOOOOOOOOO :scream:

09-19-2005, 12:54 PM
nice modeling buddy... looking good so far... but the wrincles on the cloth seems a bit too unnatural. Right now the jacket seems to be made of very soft and rubbery meterial. Marerials like genes or lether tends to have less wrincles. Keep goin ur doin a gr8 job here

09-19-2005, 01:35 PM
Do you use shell modifier for the thickness cloth or what?
Good model but check the pants, there is something in the wrinkles of the cloth.
the jacket is cooll, I wait to see the textures.
If you model is going to rush and in escape, maybe need some screping or breakage on the pants or jackets elbow.

09-20-2005, 05:55 AM
Looking great -keep it up.

09-20-2005, 06:20 AM
romelalgo: Thanx a lot dude for give a great suggestion of tearing the pants and shirt little bit here and there, so that it wiil look like as if the guy is in a hurry and is trying to escape from the cops. Now why the hell I did not think of it before:banghead: .

Once again Thanx a lot dude for giving cool suggestion:) .

overcontrast: Thanx for dropping in my entry, this is an honour dude:) . Well the wrinkles are not finalised so I may change it anytime, also suggestion from romelago has given me a cool idea to deal with it.

Lemog: Yeah you are right I will surely add some folds to it, so that it looks more natural.

fgcity: Thanx and all the best to you too dude.:)

Swamps: Thanx dude for support, yeah I will fix the crotch area, Thanx for suggestion

gpepper: Thanx dude:)

SONIC-X: Once again thanx for great support dude:)

09-21-2005, 08:21 AM
hi...i really like the way youre modeling this...very precise modeling..i agree about the folds on the jacket pockets...but thats the only little thing...all is realyy great dude!

09-21-2005, 10:53 AM
Good work on your clothes, the pockets are better, perhaps a tiny little bit to thick now?
You're on the right way:thumbsup: .

09-21-2005, 01:27 PM
Rattlesnake: Thanx dude:) yeah I have started working on the folds:)

Sabrina: Well the thickness will also get changed a bit, thanx for suggestion:)

09-21-2005, 04:08 PM
Nice modelling.

09-21-2005, 05:25 PM
Nice update Mad.... i like the modeling, just my opinion, but i think the jacket is to short, perhaps a little very little more long.... just to be lower then the t-shirt... or invert, the t shirt more long.... it disturb me that the 2 have the same size.... but anyway the modeling is really clean and excellent.... go on my friend, it's a good work!! :bounce:

09-21-2005, 08:28 PM
SuperXCM: I will try to fix this t-shirt problem dude:) Thanx for suggestion:)

suk-grigorij: Once again thanx for support, also you have great modeling skills dude:)

09-22-2005, 07:53 AM
Good wrinkles! The only thing I spotted looking a bit weird was the pockets - they seem to stand out a bit too much - otherwise this looks really great.

Also added some folds on pockets.

09-22-2005, 07:26 PM
JamesMK: Yeah I have done some corrections on the pockets. Thanx for suggestion dude:)

I have used an actual image of a guy from 3d.sk and did some painting job in photoshop.

09-22-2005, 08:26 PM
This looks cool so far! Here are my suggestions for improvement: the hair looks flat, the cuts on forehead are stretched/blurry and need to have some specularity highlights on them to make them look wet, the face's skin shader isn't sss is it? - sss would look better, the ears look like they need to be tweaked alot to make them look more like realistic ears. Also, the eyes look flat.

Like I said though, this thing really looks pretty cool. The things that I mentioned are only in hopes of seeing this model taken to the next level of realism. Keep up the good work!

09-22-2005, 08:29 PM
Wahouw Roshan

Very nice texturing for his face... impressive... maybe a little more bump where the blood... and more details for ears (modeling or textures)...

Remain you to give him a real glance, and that will be genial :bounce:

09-22-2005, 08:37 PM
Looks really really good, Roshan!

I agree with the previous comments about the hair, and some more bump on the blood perhaps to make it stand out a little more... otherwise it strikes me as overall great looking stuff

Weird sidenote... he looks a bit like Christian Bale actually  Rather a lot like him even... I think it's the eyes and the lips that do it... Anyways, go on and give him he final push into excellence :wip:

09-22-2005, 10:19 PM
man i love the developing on this face...textures fit very good on him...i think u can add a bit more red on the ears...and baybe some little veins that come from inner skin...that will make your skin looks a bit translucent...but are very small details..overall work is great man!

09-23-2005, 04:00 AM
Gardogg: Yeah you are right I have to work on his ears may be I can fix it through texturing.
About the hair I will be adding some opacity planes so that when he is falling, that is upside down, I will be showing that some amount of his hair is drooping down in the direction of his body. Thanx for suggestion dude:) Also wanted to know what is sss

Lemog: Yeah I will add more bump, so that blood looks sharper and realistic. Thanx for suggestion dude:)

JamesMK: yeah I agree with you he loooks like christian bale a bit, but intentionally I haven't used his image for modeling or texturing maybe because of his eyes, thanx for support dude:)

rattlesnake: I like your suggestion of adding veins to make the skin more realistic I will surely dothis change. Thanx for suggestion:)

09-23-2005, 06:34 AM
Waoo ! Roshan Nice progress ! Good job on texturing !

09-23-2005, 07:12 AM
His face look very very natural to me. I can see some great progress in here. But I think He appears to be a hapy man in good mood. Are you planing to give him some expression?

09-23-2005, 08:12 AM
Great head and head map dude.

09-23-2005, 11:48 AM
gpepper: Thanx dude, still I have some work to be done on texturing:)

the_fgdf: yeah there will be a facial expression, it will be more like fear, thanx for support:)

Sonic-x: Thanx dude:)

09-23-2005, 04:43 PM
Nice texturing, just not sure about shader. Is it final?

09-24-2005, 01:28 PM
suk-grigorij: No I am still working on the textures its not final yet and I have used v-ray renderer, thanx dude:)

09-24-2005, 02:05 PM
Wow dude, I just really love your sketches
Cool work, waiting to see the final pic :)

09-24-2005, 08:16 PM
This looks already impressive for first texturing. With some additional work on the blood and the ears this will come out very good.

09-26-2005, 12:17 PM
hi roshan, ur spec.....coming well, keep it up.

09-26-2005, 01:03 PM
Hey man, good work.

I would sat that your shader is a bit 'gamey' but it might just be the hair giving that impression and i'm sure you'll be coming back to that at some point. Also those tiny pupils make him look a bit supernatural but overall he's really cool so far.

09-26-2005, 01:39 PM
Bigmouth: Thanx dude:)

Swamps: Yeah you are right it looks littlebit like a game character, It might be because of hair, I will surely try to fix that later, also I still have to work on his eyes texturing, thanx dude for suggestions:)

09-27-2005, 03:05 AM
daWinky, david.mig thanx for great support:)

09-29-2005, 04:56 AM
Well I'm stuck in a production job, I will be back within one week or so, But surely this time I will compelete the final image:scream: So bye every body:)

09-29-2005, 05:16 AM
First of all, I would like to say that this is great modeling and a fantastic start on the textures. Here are some areas where I think this can improve: one of the scars on the upper right hand side of his forehead looks unrealistic (reminds me of a thunderbolt). Also, I'd suggest using a different method for making the hair. It looks too flat right now. Finally, I'd make the eye shader a phong so that you can get a small specular highlight. Check out this eye tutorial. I used it and it helped me quite a bit (although I didn't end up with as good of a result as he did ;) )

The person who made this tutorial actually is judging this challenge and won the last one so I think he knows what he is talking about ;) Good luck!

09-29-2005, 06:22 AM
great work so far, loking in later to se some more.

09-29-2005, 08:46 AM

09-30-2005, 03:13 PM

Also, I am working on the charcter's unwrapping and stuff, I will be giving an update on the character very soon.
Textures on these mountains are not yet final, I still have to work on lighting and other things, this is just a wip. And I am using vue5 infinite for modeling env

yunisirees:Thanx and Cheers dude:beer:

10-06-2005, 10:29 AM
ur story sounds ok....but what i m concerned about is how well does ur image or scene convey that story??? cause one can't see any cops or thier helicopter or anything in the concept skecth.will they make it on the final version?

10-06-2005, 02:28 PM
Actually ther is a chopper in my concept image which I posted, and yeah ther will be a chppper
in my final image:)

10-06-2005, 04:48 PM
The mountains look pretty good to me, they are bit let down by the textures right now IMHO, but the geometry as such should do the trick I think.

10-06-2005, 05:38 PM
James: I will rework on the textures and try to make it more natural and realistic, Thax dude:)

10-06-2005, 06:13 PM
this is gone be spectacular, mountains looks cool, head is  see you and  again

10-06-2005, 08:22 PM
Great work with the envirement, cant wait to see more updates. The snow shade is superb:thumbsup:

An impressive environment, I like your mountains. A little bit too much snow, especially on the almost vertical parts. I'm looking forward to your update!:)

10-08-2005, 01:37 AM
Rad concept dude....

AS far as the mountains go, I just got one bone to pick with 'em....the texture layers are CLEARLY visible as layers. It's like the sand/mud from which the mountains were created was deposited in perfectly straight lines....also I think it would better that instead of snowy mountains, you made 'em rocky...that kindamakes 'em look cool and allows you to add some some serious clifs and stuff. Anyway, good going mate

10-08-2005, 03:05 AM
Hello, hey the mountains are going great, the top shot is very impressive, looks alomost real, i think that maybe textures need a bit more detil , but theres no doubt that theyre going very good,

10-09-2005, 12:34 AM
Not bad for cg mountains!

10-09-2005, 05:54 AM
alex.h., Mr Micro26, daWinky thanx for kind words:)

dark_jedi_1929: Well the textures are wip's:) The resaon why I am keeping snowy mountains is, I want to show a more intense scene, the guy is in big trouble dude:)

rattlesnake: Thanx dude for kind words:) Actually I am still working on the textures:)

gardogg: Thanx dude, actually I am using vue5 infinite for env, it is a new software for me and I am trying my best to make a good scene:)

Another view.

10-09-2005, 01:15 PM
Good stuff!

The head and the jacket work really well now. I'm not sure about the texture on the pants though, it seems a bit too noisy and somewhat not clear what type of material it should be. The shoes would look a lot better it they were flatter along the Y-axis, particularly the toe-portion of them, and otherwise perhaps slightly larger/wider.

Great progress at any rate

10-09-2005, 01:43 PM
hei a lot of progress here mate!all great! yeah the pants texture is a bit odd as JamesMK pointed out! otherwise cool!
cheers dude!

10-09-2005, 02:29 PM
James and Yunisirees, I think the pant looks bit odd becuase of the bump map or maybe something else, I will figureout and give an update soon:) Thanx for replying:)

looks cool ! continue !

Hair and eyes are not final yet:)
All c&c's welcome

10-10-2005, 11:32 AM
hi roshan, the face look really great, but i think the fear on the face is missing.

10-10-2005, 11:37 AM
Bigmouth: Actually the expression is fear with irritation/anger, the guy is frustuated:) Thanx for replying dude:)

10-10-2005, 11:41 AM
For the pants... I just find the canva a little bit too large... less give certainly a better result...

10-10-2005, 11:44 AM
Hey man, good progress since I last looked. I reckon it'd be nice to see a slightly more natural sit of the jeans on the tops of the shoes - fashion these days thends to be that the jeans are plenty longer than the inside leg, even down to the floor almost. As he's clearly a cool customer I reckon he'd look even more cool without the slightly short trousers, know what I mean?

He seems to be insane too !

10-10-2005, 02:43 PM
Lemog: yeah I will surely fix the texture on pants, thanx dude:thumbsup:

Swamps: You surely have strong visualisation skills :) I will do the changes and post an update soon. Thanx for replying and suggestions:)

gpepper: Actually it is the situation which is making him insane, frustuated. Thanx for replying dude:)

10-10-2005, 03:06 PM
cool head,Madshooter, the head is lookin good,iv got some crits, ears are a bit big,and these bloods on his face are tosome how weird, cuz A-they are too dark,so that we dont expect it to be newly injured, b-they dont have even a lottle bumpiness on the face,i feel like its intense! c-these forms are i think not suitable for a bloody face of whom which is falling down, they should be somehow different,!
ofcourse these crits were my personal ones! this is a cool work,im sure itll turn out really good!

10-10-2005, 03:27 PM
Madlight_1988: well before reaching the narrow bridge and falling down he has suffered a lot, cops are following him right from the start, this is the reason for all those wounds and injuries.
About ears, well different people have different features so I don't think big ears would be a problem, but I will think about your suggestion.
Well about bumpiness There is a strange problem the bump is only visible on closeup renders, I will surely fix that and post an update dude:)

Thanx for replying and suggestions dude:)

Back to env. I have added some trees using echo system in vue5infinite, also I have added displacement map. Here are the three options for env, I -am not able to figure out which one looks better. This is my final camera angle.

Thi is option No. 3

Reason for adding trees, hmmm actually I am giving this guy a chance to survive hehehehe:scream:

10-10-2005, 07:47 PM
just me the 2D girl, here to tell you... I like the colors in the 3rd one :)
and you such a nice guy to plant more trees, to give the poor fellow a change... :bounce:

10-11-2005, 04:53 AM
Hey 2d girl thanx for kind words:) Yeah even I think camera option 3 looks good.

Thanx again for replying:)

10-11-2005, 05:27 AM
Oh yeah.... the third picture is very incredible... really good work Roshan...

10-11-2005, 05:52 AM
Looking good maddy....The third option is definetly the best. Just reduce the bump on the rocks a bit man...its kinda distracting....

10-11-2005, 07:21 AM
I really like the sky in the 3rd image, but I liked the light direction in the 1st image more. The light direction in the 3rd image makes the dislaced mesh look darker overall. It also seems that the rocks are a little bit glossy in the 3rd one, may be I'm not right about that.

Those were my 2 cents. :DBut I gotta say, I really love your concept ,character modeling, & texturing. Good luck, madshooter!

10-11-2005, 07:29 AM
really nice environment Roshan !
Vue, maybe I should look at this software...

10-11-2005, 08:56 AM
man your elements looks very good..evironment is looking very impressive!!
about the pants i think that maybe u can try less white on thm..and more naviblue..i think thay way will look less noisy and more real..but i think this is a nice entry so far

10-11-2005, 10:29 AM
Your terrain is looking good- the third is great.
Keep it up dude.

10-11-2005, 01:02 PM
Lemog: Thanx dude:)

dark_jedi_1929: well vue5 is quiet a new software for me so everytime I have to search for options, but I will surely try to reduce the bump dude, thanx for replying:)

El Maistro: Thanx dude for suggestion, I will try to fix that:)

gpepper: Thanx for replying dude:) Yeah you should try this software, vue5 is simply rocking and gives awesome results:)

rattlesnake: I think you are right dude I need to do something about those pants, I am still working on it and will post an update soon, thanx for suggestion dude:)

SONIC-X: Hey dude, thanx for kind words:)

10-11-2005, 01:29 PM
I agree that the 3rd version is looking great, except of the lensflare:) . But I think you should make your final decision when you see the complete scene. Maybe that this more colorful version draw the attention off your main scene elements. I'm curious to see the whole composition:bounce: !!

10-11-2005, 04:47 PM
Hey man that looks great, reminds me of those tests in 3dmark, it really give a natural look of nature, especially in the third test. Good luck!

10-11-2005, 06:32 PM
daWinky: Hey sabrina thanx for replying:) Actually yeah It is too early for me to make final decision, everything will be finalised at the time of compositing:)

Crying Horn: Thanx dude for kind words:) and all the best to you too:thumbsup:

10-11-2005, 06:53 PM
the 3d one is great, i agree whith dawinky, the lensflare could go, great work mate,
see you and

10-11-2005, 07:32 PM
I like more the second one, but in all 3 i think you should lower the specular level of the rock material.

10-11-2005, 09:09 PM
hei madshooter!wow cool enviroments! i like em all 3 mate! since each has a different mood! ... the third one mate ..if i have to pick hehhe but the sky is a bit overly exposed i think!
cheers mate!

10-11-2005, 10:26 PM
Hey Roshan, youre just doing an awesome work, congrats. Nice idea, impressive concept an amazing Ilumination. Ill be watching here =)

10-12-2005, 12:09 PM
alex.h.: thanx dude:) , yeah I can reduce the intensity of the lensflare, if not in vue5 then in photoshop, a powerfull weapon:)

danielkenobi: Thanx for replying:) I will surely reduce the specular level:)

yunisirees: Thanx for kind words, Actually the sky looks overexposed because of lensfare:)

auroness: Thanx for encouraging words dude:thumbsup:

Actually all the fixes on env. will be done and finalised at the time of compositing:)

A close-up render.
All c&c's welcome.:)

10-14-2005, 12:24 AM
hey mate, the eyes looks fine, when isaw the noise at the first image i thought it was too much, but in this close up shot is looking good, seems like a good way to simulate the eyes aquosity, once u change your lighting for a smoother shadows one the realistic look to the eyes will be extrordinary i think...good job mate!

10-14-2005, 01:23 AM
Good job mate. Really cool texturing. Wish I could paint textures like you. Just a couple of points here:

> The variation in skin tone (specially near the nose) is quite harsh. Try and soften it up.
> The bumpiness of the skin is slightly too much...try and control the 3D Noise on the skin. For e.g., it should not be so visible on the ears as it is near the eyes.
> Use some hair/fur plug for the hair, or use a hair texture applied to planes with transparency attached to the head. Right now the hair is looking slightly gamey...Same thing for the eyebrows.

I hope you don't mind me raising these points...

10-14-2005, 04:00 AM
I'm okay with darkjedi1929 comments... but on over hand, if this guy is not view closed like that, I' sure that the result could be great... depend too of your final lighting setup...

good work Roshan

10-14-2005, 05:34 AM
I agree that the bump on the eyes is heavy at first sight but looking stunningly good at the close-up. Great progress!

10-14-2005, 06:52 AM
rattlesnake: Thanx dude:thumbsup: Yeah this is not the final lighting , will definetely look more cool with soft shadows:)

dark_jedi_1929: Actually the strange thing about the bump noise is that it looks more prominenet in closeup renders and in normal renders it is hardly seen, I will have to decide this in my final scene. About the hair yeah opacity mapping on planes will definetely work, I haven't used that kind of technique previously, but I have seen Swamps thread and he has achieved really good results.
Thanx dude for replying and suggestions:)

Lemog: Thanx dude:) final lighting stage is quiet far away:scream:

daWinky: Thanx sabrina for kind words:)

10-14-2005, 07:19 AM
Nice texturing,I agree the bump on the skin is a bit heavy when viewed close-up.

Nice painting and keep it up.

10-14-2005, 07:58 AM
iiiiik... not the type of guy I wanna meet in a dark alley late at night... He looks mad and seems out to get revench...
well done :bounce:

10-15-2005, 04:56 AM
SONIC-X: Thanx dude, I will surely fix the bump problems:)

makaron: SSHH... Mona speak slowly, cause if he survives first thing he is gonna come searching for you;)

Thanx for replying Mona:)

10-15-2005, 06:43 AM
Nice work man! Keep going! :)

10-15-2005, 08:16 AM
I like your texturing man.I agree with Lemog about distance as factor for details.Great work so far man,go on:love:

10-15-2005, 03:48 PM
Hi Roshan, nice work so far. I saw a few things that i think would better.
You could decrease a bit the saturation of the color map, especially the red color. I don't know what distance you'll put he on the scene, but i think that you could abit the bump map.

The modeling is cool, i think if you make this changes would be better. My opinion. keep it up

10-15-2005, 06:39 PM
Ultemate: Thanx for kind words dude:)

Mr Micro26: Cheers dude:beer:

denverbz: Yeah you are right I will surely decrease the saturation of red colour and also fix the bump map. Thanx for replying and suggestions dude:)

10-18-2005, 06:42 AM
denverbz: Actually I am using paticle flow, this is something which is inbuilt particle system in 3d studio max, No third-party plugin:) Thanx for kindwords dude:)

JamesMK::beer: dude

the1st_angel: Actually the guy is frustuated, but it seems like as if he is smiling, maybe because the head is rotated up-side down:)
Thanx dude and all the best to you for this challenge:thumbsup:

alex.h.: Hey man thanx for motivation:beer:

Lemog: I think I wont rotate his body compelete upsidedown, may be half rotation:)

Well I have started modeling the chopper. I am really not good in vehicle and chopper modeling but I am trying my best to create a good model.
I am keeping it little lowpoly, cause It wont be seen too much and will be in the background, still I am trying to add decent details on it.

All C&c's welcome

All c&c's welcome.

10-21-2005, 04:28 PM
yunisirees: Thanx dude, I have modeled this chopper after a pretty long time, I tried to model one, when I was given a test file for my first job in a studio and I lost the job, Anyways thanx dude for kind words:)

rattlesnake: Thanx for great support dude:) Well I will try my best to make a good action -packed final scene:)

Lemog: Thanx dude for always being there to support me:beer:

daWinky: Well now it is confirmed that I can model a decent chopper:D Thanx sabrina for great support:)

10-21-2005, 06:14 PM
hey man,
thanks for checkin out my entry!
I like your concept.good luck.

10-21-2005, 06:42 PM
nice try .... just a litle bit cubic (my opinion) keep it up:thumbsup:

10-21-2005, 06:45 PM
Hey maddy....great lookin chopper. BTW, I think your protagonist made a wise choice by jumping over the cliff; he might survive that but not those missiles. LOL...

10-23-2005, 10:07 AM
hi roshan the chopper looks really great, and the way u render with the lights, its look fantastic....
best of luck:thumbsup: .waiting to see more updates:bounce:

10-23-2005, 06:40 PM
tuck: Hey dude Thanx for kind reply:) Good luck to you too:thumbsup:

visualact.com: Thanx dude:) well yeah a little cubic, I think rightnow I intend to keep it like this, you see deadline is coming near and near, got lot of other things to do in my scene:)
once again thanx for replying:beer:

dark_jedi_1929: Hey thanx for replying dude:) the missiles wont directly hit him, one of the missile will just pass from his side, I mean, he just survived hehehe...:scream:

cgkiller: Thanx dude for replying:) All the best to you too:)

10-23-2005, 07:13 PM
that's totally an interesting progress here, i like it very much.
About the chopper too,it really interesting, using motion blur you might even use less amount of detail....Cool. Keep it up

10-24-2005, 03:52 AM
As visualact.com... at the first time, I think it was a bit cubic, yes... but at second view... I think that will be not really a problem... some parts of this helicopter seem very cubic, with that will appear less with textures... no prob for me finally if you don't want to have a perfect copy of an existing one... then go Roshan

10-24-2005, 05:38 AM
That's really looking good, I like this somehow cubic style - nothing to crit:thumbsup: . Now we want to see some textures:bounce: !

10-24-2005, 05:52 AM
Nice chopper dude.

I have compeleted chopper texturing.
There are some texture strechings which I will fix and give an update soon.

10-24-2005, 05:18 PM
Well, it is a bit angular - but it still looks like it's going to work well. A neat actionfilled camera angle and some good lights, it will do the job.

3rd user: Yeah there will be motion blurr on the blades, thanx dude for kind reply:)

Lemog: Yeah it is bit angular and cubic, but won't be seen so much in the final scene:)
Thanx dude for kind reply:)

daWinky: Hey Sabrina thanx for encouraging words, I have already uploaded the chopper with textures.:)

SONIC-X:  Dude

JamesMK: Yeah I guess lighting will do the trick, thanx for replying dude:)

10-25-2005, 12:44 AM
hey mate metalic texture looks very good, are u going to add more colors? maybe some color variations on the metal can look nice too, darker in some areas..just a thought..good job man..keep on:buttrock:

10-25-2005, 05:23 AM
hi roshan, the texture look great, but from my opinion it must have some variation , make it little dark and use some raytrace in the texture and glass.

10-25-2005, 05:32 AM
hi roshan the chooper looks really great, use some raytrace in the texture and make it little darker ,and make the blades little shinny with raytrace so it will reflects in the sunlight when it rotates so it will give more cinematic look and use some logos and signs on the chop body.
 waiting to see more updates :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

10-25-2005, 06:48 AM
Great Job Roshan !

The modeling is really cool !
Maybe some work again on texture... The bump is too high in my opinion... More dirt should be cool...
Keep going Roshan, U've done an amazing job !

10-25-2005, 07:05 AM
You're textures aren't bad at all, but I agree with the others that some variations would be nice, if more seen from a distance your current texture might look flat. Perhaps look for some references in the web concerning color, logos...Hope to see an update soon!:bounce:

10-25-2005, 02:17 PM
rattlesnake: Yeah I need to add more variations to my chopper so that it looks more realistic:)
Thanx dude for suggestions and support:)

cgkiller: Well I wont be making it shiny and reflective like a new brand chopper, but I want it to look like a rusted old chopper, Thanx dude for suggestions and kind reply:)

shaolin: Thanx dude for kind reply:) Yeah definetely I will be adding some dirt maps to the chopper, because of that I will get some colour variations on it:)

daWinky: Yeah I agree with you the chopper might look flat from a distance, I will definetely be adding some dirt maps to give it more rusted feel and colour variations.
Thanx a lot for great support sabrina:)

Well this is a test composition, Actually a direct screen shot of my Max viewport.
I am still working on the chopper textures and will post an update soon.:)

10-26-2005, 04:01 PM
Looks real cool Roshy. Keep it up

10-26-2005, 04:26 PM
Take care to your eyes Roshan with these metal wires... finally, Max is a very dangerous software, not ? :scream: hahahaha

10-26-2005, 04:48 PM
Cool compo Roshan :buttrock:

10-26-2005, 06:11 PM
dark_jedi_1929:  dude.

Lemog: Yeah Max surely is a dangerous software hahahaha..:scream: But actually those things are kind of ropes and not metal wires, They look like metal wires because they are just -prints screens. Cheers dude:beer:

ilusiondigital: Thanx dude:)

10-27-2005, 05:55 AM
Hi Roshan,

what a nice and dreamy atmosphere:) - like nothing bad could happen on such a sunny day...
may be a very good contrast to your dramatic scene:thumbsup: . Very good test composition - but I insist that I don't like the lensflare:) - but that's just a matter of taste. Great work!

10-27-2005, 06:10 AM
Lemog: Yeah Max surely is a dangerous software hahahaha..:scream: But actually those things are kind of ropes and not metal wires, They look like metal wires because they are just -prints screens. Cheers dude:beer:
Argh :argh: I'm so confused mate... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: I close my mouth and I'm waiting update... better if I stop my silly things :scream: hahahaha

10-27-2005, 08:00 AM
Nice going dude, its starting to take shape now.

10-27-2005, 08:33 AM
Dude. Just saw the chopper textured. One crit, the noise texture in the bump makes it look as if its made outta rock, than metal. My suggestion, check out some Apache Helicopter Pics on google before you finalize the texture, coz aircrafts are supposed to have smooth hulls. Scratches and stuff, yes. Bump Map via Noise, I would not recommend it. Also, do you have the latest version of Mental Ray? Cos they have cool metallic shaders in it (At least they do in Maya 7).

10-27-2005, 08:47 AM
I like the scene, :)
and I like that the "mad" man is not around... haha... me dont have to sneak around then... :p
but, gonna be neat to see him in the scene of action later... :bounce:

10-27-2005, 05:19 PM
hey mate...looking good that compo...my only crit is that maybe the heli is bit too lean forward...maybe is an ilusion because camera shot im not sure...but thats my only crit:shrug:

all the idea is comming great together friend, :applause:keep the good work

This is another test composition. I still have to add dynamics to his clothes, I am not sure whether I will be doing it with dynamics or with FFD modifier in max. There are lot of things to be done, still in a WIP stage.

10-27-2005, 06:25 PM
daWinky: Well a nice sunny day, but really not a good day for this guy hehehehe:scream: .
Hmmm.. It seems you really don't like that lens flare, the problem is the evening colour in this env. is there because of that flare, but I will try to reduce the intensity of that light in Vue5 infinite. One more problem Vue5 is a new software for me So I'm not really sure How I'm gonna do that hehehe..:) Thanx sabrina for kind reply and for always being there as a great support:)

Lemog: No problem dude

dark_jedi_1929: Yeah you are right dude I am still working on the chopper textures and will post an update soon, Thanx for replying my friend:)

makaron: HAhahah..:scream: Mona you don't need to be afraid of him, cause he is already falling down form that cliff. Thanx for great support and kind reply:)

rattlesnake: Yeah you are right dude, I will surely fix the rotation of the chopper, Thanx for kind reply and big support:beer:

Sonicx:  dude

10-27-2005, 07:26 PM
wow ! nice work so far man! some point is his jacket look solid , maybe you can add more movement to his jacket , good job!

10-27-2005, 08:46 PM
mositj: Yeah you are right I will adding some movement on his jacket using reactor dynamics in Max, I am still doing some r&d and stuff, if not then I will be doing it manually using some modifiers, thanx dude for kind words:)

10-27-2005, 08:51 PM
hi madshooter
cool uodates on the chopper man ! :bounce: :bounce: ! the compo looks good ! will the chopper will be shooting at him?
cheers man!

10-27-2005, 08:55 PM
Hi Roshan,

nice update, i'll waiting to see how it look with deformation on his jacket. Perhaps it can be done with FFD like you said. Good chopper too!

10-28-2005, 04:59 AM
yunisirees: Yeah the chopper will be shooting at him from some distance, Also I,m thinking of showing one of the missile passing from his side. Thanx dude for kind reply

SuperXCM: Thanx dude :) Yeah it can be done with ffd modifier and aslo can be done with reactor dynamics:)

10-28-2005, 05:05 AM
I must aknowledge to be very curious to see the jacket deformation... not very easy... good luck for this operation... I can't give you some councils about max tool to be used... personally, I woult use in this case certainly a kind of deformer... just waiting next step now... seeya...

10-28-2005, 05:55 AM
Yeah it is a kind of challenge for me dude, I hope it turns out well:) thanx for suggestion dude Somehow I feel some modifier will save my day:scream: heheheh...

10-28-2005, 05:59 AM
Excellent stuff Roshan ! It looks really cool !

10-28-2005, 06:28 AM
I like the composition. Maybe the helicopter could be a bit bigger and maybe you can move the ropes so that the helicopter doesn't look so squeezed into the opening between the ropes and the character. Looking forward to seeing the bridge planks falling and maybe some bullet shots whizzing though the air. His shirt and jacket look too shiny and plastic-like right now (sorry if that was already addressed - didn't read)

10-28-2005, 06:39 AM
gpepper:  dude, Thanx for kind reply and great support dude:)

gardogg: Yeah I agree with you the chopper needs to be little more bigger and about the ropes, position is not final yet, I will be doing some minor changes depending on the priority, in final comopsition. I will be showing some couple of bullets whizzing, Actually I wanted to do something like matrix movie or maybe I find some new fx for my scene:)
Thanx dude for suggestions and kind reply:beer:

10-28-2005, 04:19 PM
Hi Roshan, thanks for your encouragement on my last post - it's much appreciated. Like your image alot and my only comment would be that his jacket and t-shirt would be flapping open and falling downward. Like the composition of it though.

10-28-2005, 04:29 PM
Claireabella: Thanx for kind reply Claire, I'm really glad that you like my image:) Well as I mentioned earlier, definetely Jacket will be flapping down in the direction of his body, I'm still working on it, and still haven't achieved any good results, I will surely post an update soon when its done:) Thanx again for visiting my thread:)

10-28-2005, 07:14 PM
