Just submitting my thread to get a good seat.
Let's paint :buttrock:

11-07-2002, 06:19 AM
Jeroentje, I thought you'd have at least fifteen concepts up by now!;)

11-07-2002, 07:14 PM
Nope, I'm inking/coloring Itchi's sketch at the moment.
But this challenge I will participate in. That is a promise.

11-10-2002, 10:51 AM

Okay, I have had an idea for this one when I was in the shower just now. I'm not gonna make 15 concepts again, cause I like this one too much.
I wanna do that Darwin evolution drawing. With me getting older and older and in different fashion-styles over the years (I am 31 so the 70's will be included ;) )
I'm gonna use illustrator, so I won't be making any sketches at all and it will be hard to show you wips, but I'll see what I can do.

11-10-2002, 08:11 PM
First WIP.

11-10-2002, 08:57 PM
sounds good

11-10-2002, 09:49 PM
hm.. colors are a bit off, cause I'm working in cmyk and posting screendumps.

11-10-2002, 10:00 PM
wip nr 4
I'm deleting the old posts till I got the line-up completed.

11-10-2002, 11:28 PM
Hey looking cool Jeroentje, are you just going back in time with the outfits or will you go into the future as well?

11-11-2002, 12:28 AM
great concept

11-11-2002, 02:26 AM
Oh ... I thought you were going to draw yourself as a guppy or something crawling out of the life sespool that was the 70s. :D

Looking good man. I'm starting mine tonight, too.

11-11-2002, 07:10 AM
* we'll see
* thanks slacker :)
* I have only gotten back to the 80s till now and this goes back to '71 ;)

11-11-2002, 07:22 AM
Cool idea. Looks like smoking is your hobby ;)

11-11-2002, 11:15 AM
Just wait & see :D

11-11-2002, 08:14 PM

11-11-2002, 09:50 PM
I'll start detailing and adding the hobbies when I get to 1971. Then I'll make a proper looking jpeg and post a link.
Somehow I doubt 1971 will fit in 1024x786. I feel old...

11-11-2002, 10:39 PM
Abducted in 85? That's funny!

11-11-2002, 10:43 PM
haha thats great :D

11-11-2002, 10:43 PM
Yeah, those filthy aliens still have some of my comics.
"Yeah, sure we'll return them...", they said. I hate people that keep my stuff.

11-12-2002, 04:40 AM
Hey Lookin good Jeroen. I actually thought you were younger!
No biggy. I like this idea, another original.

11-12-2002, 10:44 PM
and another update...
It's 120kb/1024x768 so just an URL...

11-13-2002, 03:01 AM
I hope you don't think this is too nitpicky, but I think you should include one more year in between '79 and '83. It seemed like too big a gap, since kids change their appearance and hobbies faster than a guy in his 20's.
Looking good though...I love the alien abduction:love:

11-13-2002, 03:46 AM
haha, great idea Jeroen  Did you say that you were going to go forward on the timeline also? I'd love to see what you think IS going to happen :D

11-13-2002, 03:54 AM
Aw! DAMN! Boo beat me to it. I was gonna suggest that.

11-13-2002, 03:07 PM
Brilliant idea. Please carry on with a future you, It'll be so funny with an old guy, zimmer and cowboy outfit.

11-13-2002, 03:15 PM
Hm.. I was actually thinking the other way. Putting in 1 or 2 reincarnations at the beginning :p
Maybe I'll do both ideas. It's just getting very full for one page... little unforseen mistake :D

11-13-2002, 05:19 PM
haha... now that's something I would have never thought of.

11-13-2002, 05:41 PM

I just about fell off my chair. I was born in 1971, too. The portfolio, acid house smilie, experiments with hair... excellent! The Nirvana T-shirt is genius.

11-15-2002, 01:58 AM
2 things :

1- yerk a potato coat !!! :surprised

2- nirvana rulz!:buttrock: :buttrock:

great so far!

11-15-2002, 08:59 AM
Wow Jeroentje, this image rocks! Very original, and draw those previous lifes and future reencarnations (it could be a circle, a bucle that ends and starts again and again...)

I love this thread, i was born in 1980, and thanks to this historic document i know how people dressed in the past and their ancient customs.. heh hee heh ;)

11-15-2002, 10:15 AM
Hehe, thanks guys.
Funny: I've only put in "irva" and everyone knows it's Nirvana :p
Grunge will never die...

11-15-2002, 10:43 AM
if its a backpack on the 1998 version of you then i liked you then :D
Great image, that would actually be a great way of "writing journal" or diary. gj :)

11-16-2002, 10:02 PM
Just a litle update again. The screwdrivers in the Rubik cube are way too big and some smaller details will change. Plus a couple of years to fill :D

11-17-2002, 01:57 PM
Thanks again guys :)
Aaaand a little update...

11-17-2002, 05:44 PM
where is 1975 jeroentje

11-17-2002, 05:58 PM
he, I didn't say it's finished yet  ;)

11-17-2002, 09:46 PM
Hey why werenīt you cryogenized smoking? 50 years is too long without a cigarette.
Perhaps the dates should have different fonts, according to the year. Perhaps not.
What will the 2002 background be?

11-17-2002, 10:00 PM
Hey why werenīt you cryogenized smoking? 50 years is too long without a cigarette.
In the future I will have my blood replaced by liquid nicotine... It will be called "Cameljuice" and is the future of the cigarette industrie.

Perhaps the dates should have different fonts, according to the year. Perhaps not.
NO! Then I will have to use all the ugly typefaces from the past... and different typefaces will make a bit of a mess of the layout. Will draw too much attention away from the illustrations.

What will the 2002 background be?
I don't know yet. Unfortunately I wear black pants nowadays... and I choose to make the hobbies black aswell... no idea how I will solve that... I'm sure I'll find something.

I think ya should do the background for 2002 in color to show thatīs presentday. Because most of the meories are blackīn white:shrug:

Or another idea(MY Favorite):

Itwill be a great contrast, if ya do your 2002 Alterego in the background and ya hobby or work in the forground( to show that you are part of ya past!).

Just my two cents, hope it helps a bit.

Cheerz dude:beer:

That's just Great, jeroenje :buttrock: .Very simple, but so creative.

11-25-2002, 05:13 PM

Nice work!

11-25-2002, 09:40 PM
yes it inspire me a lot too
I didn't rember but ur entries is very similar to a Norman Rockwell's sketch i saw in Guggenheim Museum of New York. At the end He was drawing in his open casket while painting in cubist style at the beggining drawing in a cradle.

11-26-2002, 04:18 PM
I love your style man,so clean and concentrated:)And the idea's great :applause:

11-26-2002, 04:23 PM
Yeah, yeah I know. I should finish it. 2 hours more and it's done. Rather busy lately, but I do hope to finish it as soon as possible.

11-26-2002, 09:06 PM

11-27-2002, 03:05 PM

Final piece comming up....

11-30-2002, 12:16 PM
Year - Hobby
1970 - Ruining my mothers figure.
1971 - Being born, crying and filling my diapers.
1975 - Falling down stairs and breaking stuff.
1979 - Playing the wildest stories about cowboys, knights etc.
1981 - Trying to solve Rubik's kube. A screwdriver was the answer.
1983 - Collecting comics.
1985 - Very vague. Can't remember.
1987 - Reading Playboy magazine (for the interviews).
1989 - Playing snooker and drinking beer.
1991 - Hanging around in bars and going to rock concerts.
1994 - Getting my 1st car (a E 350,- piece of rust).
1998 - Working, travelling and fishing.
2002 - Digital painting.
2.... - We'll see what the future will bring...

I forgot a few hobbies, like for instance a very diverse taste in music (usual comment at the record store: is one of those supposed to be a present?) and recently dating a very lovely redhaired.

11-30-2002, 01:00 PM
:applause: Excellent! And here you were complaining that I'd finish before you. tsk tsk You should know by now that I'm a procrastinator. :D

This turned out great jeroentje! Still love the UFO in '85 the best, but the others are just as funny.

Oh BTW, I may be older ... but you've been smoking longer. So, theoretically I'll live longer. heheheheh

11-30-2002, 01:28 PM
This image is great, a perfect identification card, sums up your hobbies, growth and sense of humour.
Really dig the smart way you worked out 2002 background.
I think iīm still in your ī75 phase, this week iīve fallen twice.

jeroentje:................Just wanted to give my opinion..........I think this is a very well conceived idea. It really deserves to be a contender with a couple others for the challenge in my humble opinion. I like the look and the idea. Well done, and well thought out. Congrats on some nice work.
