View Full Version : Craving Berlin?
08-23-2005, 03:30 PM
I'm proud to present an ad we did using messiah.
etwas neu ensteht (www.etwas-neues.de (http://www.etwas-neues.de/)) - concept
Me - direction, modeling, shading, animation & grunting (yeah, I'm the
guy in the suit ;-)
Marek Schneider - rig
Stefan "Brederock" Bredereck - render wrangling, compositing, sound
FX, music and output
The text "Bock auf Berlin?" is approximately "Crave for Berlin?" or
(closer to the meaning, but too long) "hot and bothered for Berlin?"
It's for the Berlin Tourism board. If you laugh, you qualify for
German citizenship. ;-)
Good stuff David. It looks campy and fun. . . captures the "feel" of those campy monster movies etc. I didn't like the motion of the tail at first but then I started to think about it. . . and it kind of looks like a man in a suit and someone is holding up the tail with a bit of string off camera. . . and now I like it. :-)

wegg: I actually wanted the tail rigged that way - dangling from a "rope", but with financial/time constraints we ended up just slapping it on.
aaron: thanks! Your passport is in the mail!

saw your post just now. Nice work !
I think though, that this kind of humour is not typically German. IMHO German ads tend to be rather boring, with only some 'mainstream' humour. Your work rather reminds me of French or Swedish ads. But I laughed anyway ! :D

Oooh! Do I get a Swedish passport!? Honorary Frenchman!?
That would be cooL!!!
One of the reasons I did this ad was the idea - the agency belongs to former colleagues of mine and I really want to see more character work in this line of humor! We will become one Europe! We will become one Europe! Ha! Next: Turkish slapstick!
Thanks for your feedback!
btw: I'm holding my own at uchess - in case you ever need a lamb to slaughter!
