I am looking for threads or comments on this issue. I've seen it done with some success--
but I think a properly designed rig will greatly enhance the process....paul

I would suggest writing an autoRigger that creates a puppet rig and a matching mocap skeleton, have it make the orients etc on the rig controls match the skeleton where appripriate, pop in a few locators for pole vectors...
then write a script to transfer it, in IK FK or both...
transfering to the reverse foot so you get more "animator friendly" keys takes slightly more work. but no big deal (I dont have time to explain in detail though)

thats how I do it anyway... but I wrote all that almost 2 years ago and havent had a chance to look at the retargeting stuff in maya now... so maybee I'd do it differently...
