View Full Version : A finished work and a work in progress (Robots and Eyes)

A few months ago I posted a walkcycle ( of a robot I made, I've already begun the animation so this ( is how it is going.

Another work I made was a logo for a starting animation company ( in my country.
My job was to make the eye as soon as it gets 3D, and the passage to the final logo including the final animation and also added sound effects and making the music (just glued some pre-existing soundtracks).

Comments and critics are very welcome. :D

Looks cool! I don't understand how the wires are pulling the robot's body parts. eg (legs/arms). It's a robot and should be mechanical. That's not that important though. The thing that you should look at are your camera angles. The part where the robot is walking towards the camera is unneccessary and doesn't flow well. You should be asking yourself what you want to say with each angle.

The shot where he walks to the edge of the desk and the shot where he steps back from the edge. Those camera angles should be swapped.
If he walks to the edge and the viewer can't see what's under him it makes you a little more curious. Then when he steps back using the an angle from the top will give you the feeling of height and emphasises what the robot is feeling.
Hope that helps a little.

I think the blend of cg and the real backgrounds is done very nicely. But, there is some cinematic problems. Your camera jumps. If you are going to cut, you should choose another angle at least 45 degrees different from the first one. Right now you have two jump cuts in your piece. The first one is when the camera does a close up on the robot in the very beginning and when the robot sits up is another. I thought the first shot through robot pov was something going on inside one of his red arm wires because that was in the shot right before that one and it moved. There should be some visual tie more to his eyes maybe... that would help.
