View Full Version : AMD Processor replacement delima

I currently have Maya on a dual system, tyan tigher s2466n motherboard and two amd 2.4 mp's. I had one processor die last night, so I am left with the question to upgrade my motherboard and buy a single amd 64 bit processor, or buy another amd 2.4 mp processor to make my system a dual machine again. Any thoughts? My budget would be around $500 - $600.

If that's your budget... just get a matched MP processor. It's a pretty painless process.

Maybe a good time for a good system clean-up and maybe processor fan replacements.

with that small a budget, I'd look on eBay for a replacement CPU, and save up for a new A64 based system later.

With any luck by the time you are ready to buy, the dual cores will come down enough in price for you to take advantage of.

I ended up ordering two AMD 2800+ mp's for about $200 a piece and a couple nice thermaltake fans for the processor and case.

thanks for the advice guys,
