View Full Version : settings of a 16:9 screen?

Someone asked me lately how is came that her pictures are always deformed on her screen. I gave her a funny look  but then she showed me her portable with a 16:9 ratio screen. I took a quick look at the settings but all the display setting are for a regular 4:3 screen... so indeed, everything that appears on the screen is deformed.
I quickly browsed the net but couldn't find something usefull about that so far.

Anyone here that know hows to handle that type of screens? Is it hardware related? Are there specific drivers?

Sorry...can you not change the resolution to at 16x9 resolution?

..and it's a portable? so the native setting is 4:3 on a 16x9 screen? :S how odd....

There should be settings in there to change it to a 16:9 compatible resolution. I've seen laptops that have correct settings for them. If not there are ways of editing video card files to have the res show up and make it run at that on the screen.

Probley some resolutions you should have is... if not mistaken (off the top of my head here)

Typical widescreen resolutions are 1280x768 and 1280x800 depending on what LCD your laptop has. Higer end laptops can go even higher.

It should be noted that these are more like 16:10 ratios and not 16:9. 16:9 would be 1280x720.
