I can either get a 19" CRT Monitor for about 130 deleivered (link below) or

I can get 2 17" CRT Monitors for 170 (link below).

What do you people think about this? and is the monitor(s) I have choosen any good?

17" Monitor is the top one and the one below it is the 19" model.

The mian use of my computer is for programming, university work and I am soon going to learn 3D as soon as I get my new computer.

I think 2 17" CRT Monitors are best because you can setting your program to Dual Screen.

That have area more than 19" CRT Monitor.

BUT THIS VERY BEST........:bounce:

This's a difficult question and I asked it myself too but I've bought 19" Samsung 997MB (298USD+VAT:Turkey, 4 moths ago, now 250USD+VAT) because I'm using Graphic programs and more resolution is better than dual monitor. I can easily work at 1600X1200@75Hz,
Dual monitor is very good if you're working with audio and video,
I'm a computer engineer so I can understand your needs but, in my opinion, again one 19" is better than two 17".
What can you do with second display? maybe MSDN or Debug window, or palettes but they be hidden when not used!
I would buy 2nd for reading .pdf e-books or internet, or in PS all tools stay in the 2nd one, but not a big deal!

I have a dual monitor setup which is a 19" and a 17". I do a lot of Photoshop work and so it is more important to have contiguous real estate so the 19" is my main monitor which is a Mitsubishi Diamondtron and has a great dynamic range. I think that if you are doing a lot of programming and later 3D you would probably be better off with two monitors. You might even consider springing for the 19" and a 17" for a few more bucks to give you extra palette room.

Both of those monitors look fine but the 19" has a better refresh at high resolution. It's hard if you have to stare at 60Hz all day, 75 is much better. If it was me I would spend a little more and get a 19 and a 17.

I would shoot for dual monitors. Though 17" is a bit small. If you can go the 19" and 17" route, that would work well.

At work I have 4 monitors, and at home 2 19"s Probably will invest in one of those 24" dell flat screens when the price goes down for rebates :P

The Dell 24 is horrible in terms of response time. It's impossible to work with for animating for exemple. Movies also, look horrible and it's hardly playable, if you are a player.

I changed mine for a 20" which uses a complete different screen. it's much better on the ghosting part in mobies and games. Animating is also better, while not totally perfect. Nothing beats CRT yet for animators, imo

I read a review stating that the 20" screen is the same thing that is in the 20" Apple Cinema display..

I wonder if the 24" dell is the same sort of deal? If it is as horrible as you say, then maybe its not...

I think I'll go for the 19" and If I decide that it's not enough I'll buy another one.

Thanks for the help everyone.
