View Full Version : Post prod pipeline, networking and poor scrubbing!

ok, so our pipeline is something like this...

render to a file server, then do post in premiere / After effects, with the rendered pics imported as a sequence. Scrubbing performance is poor, partly due to the fact that its coming across the network [gigabit]. So im wondering if we got another gigabit network card and connected to the server, having dual gigabit connections with load balancing, would this help the performance??

the other thing to consider is when your transfering loads of small files - as in this case cos theyre image sequences - transfer rate is always slower than transfering a big chunk, is there anything I can do to with this? Someone said to me I should check out the package size and increase it, would this help?

Im not too hot on networking, so any ideas would rock!

also I'd be interested to hear how other people deal with the post production pipeline to see if theres a better solution?
