Hi. I'm relatively new to Lightwave and 3d modeling, but is there a plugin or some kind of LScript that allows for objects in lightwave to react to other objects' movements, such as one gear rotating in reaction to another gear rotating?

depending on the type of animation that you plan to make you can either use the hardbody dynamics module or, in the case of gears, use expressions or followers so that one rotation generates the other ones. It requires a bit of math to calculate the speed ratio on the basis of the diameter ratio but it works fine.

If you have a little extra money Relativity is the way to go. You can do it in LW using expressions and such, but you need to do all the work yourself. Relativity has done the math for you. Google Relativity for the link.
