For those of you that haven't checked into the Next Dimension Tour yet, http://www.newtek.com/nextdimension/index.html, here is what your missing on the CD that you get when you take the classes:
The material on the CD reviews and adds to much of the same material presented in person, and even covers some material not addressed in the tour. they have taken the time to render some of the scenes which was not possible due to time constraints in the actual tour. The nice thing about this material is that you can watch it over and over again and look at the objects and scene files to pick them apart.
They have also included two of the first lectures on SplineGod's Lightwave Professional Character Series online course. This course takes the whole character aspect of this seminar and expands upon it. Just the character modeling portion of that series is over 10 hours long.
Here is a run down of what you will find in the form of Video Tutorials in Quicktime Format:
>Customizing the Interface
>Color Requestor Tricks
>Viper and Image Viewer
>Gradients- Part 1-4
>>Particles for fun and profit
>Particle Snow Storm
>Modeling a complete Character
>Rigging a Complete Character
>Motion Designer Part 1
>Intensity Versus Diffuse
>>Pro Character Series Teaser
>Modeling a Face
>Modeling a Nose
The Character tutorials are worththe price of the courses...Larry Kicks A$$ at showing you how to work with characters from modeling to rigging to animating....This guy knows his stuff!
Be sure to check out more of his training material here:
and be sure to check out his free spline tutorial here:

I'll second that.
I attended the Dallas leg of the tour and must give it a hearty thumbs up.
Larry is easy to talk to and he really does know how to teach. That's key right there. Knowing how to teach.
I know many guys who are just tops in their skills -- but can't really *teach* that knowledge.
Larry does. He's patient as well.

Ya gotta edit your link.... (ya have a period at the end that miffs up the system)...
I bought Larry's World Tour CD and it was *excellent*. If it's offered again for this tour I will definately pick it up if it's around the same price as the last one. --- Sadly I wasn't able to make it to the show in my area here in Minneapolis... but I'll make it a point to be there next time your here... (please come back... )

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to give an update on my CDs and Courses.
Im running a special on Both the World Wide Tour CD that William mentioned AND the Next Dimension Tour CD. Both combined are over 20 hrs of quicktime movies and cover many aspects of Lightwave not covered in other books, videos or tutorials.
If you want a list of whats the the World Wide Tour CD go HERE (http://www.3dtrainingonline.com/worldwidetour.htm) and to see whats on the Next Dimension Tour CD go HERE (http://www.3dtrainingonline.com/nextdimensiontour.htm)
Since this time I have a complete Introduction to Lightwave Course. This was a big part of Newteks Educational Bundle that was sold from Dec to March of this year. Many people bought the bundle specifically to get my Intro Course. This course covers modeling, texturing, lighting, rigging, animation and FX and all focussed on a project. It comes with over 30 HOURS of quicktime movies. This course is self paced and comes with unlimited online support the whole time youre taking the course. You can get more information on it HERE (http://www.3dtrainingonline.com/introtolightwave.htm)
My Professional Character Series has been very popular. It comes with over 60 HOURS of quicktime movies and unlimited online support. There are no other books, videos or tutorials that cover the subject in nearly the depth that this course does. The course covers modeling a complete realistic human, texturing it, rigging and animating it. Just the modeling module is 12 hrs, the texturing module is 20 hours, the rigging module is 15 hours and the animation module is 12 hours. Each module can be purchased separately and still come with online support. You can see more information HERE (http://www.3dtrainingonline.com/professionalcharacterseries.htm).
I take the time to personally critique each students work as its posted and answer any questions. After almost 2 years the information on the forums reads like several volumes of books. Theres a ton of information in each thread. With all the hours you get on CD and the support forums and past posts its a HUGE resource.
I have new CDs on the way too. For example the first part of my Organic Modeling Series will be available. It covers splines for example in great detail. You can read about it HERE (http://www.3dtrainingonline.com)
If anyone is interested in what Ive worked on and the kind of work I do, take a look HERE (http://www.splinegod.com)
Im currently running a siggraph special on any of my courses until the end of August and recieve the World Wide Tour CD or The Next Dimension Tour CD (Thats 10 EXTRA hours) for FREE!.
William mentioned the free spline tutorial before. My free tutorial section now has well over an hour of quicktime movies. Those can be seen
HERE (http://www.3dtrainingonline.com/support/sampler.htm) and several free rigs to download HERE (http://www.splinegod.com/rigs.htm)

When will there be some Canadian dates for the Discovery Tour? Like Vancouver?
08-14-2003, 11:55 PM
Hey Proton and Larry,
when are you going to bring the Tour over to Europe (and I dont mean just GB)?
There are lots of people over here who would like to attend.
08-15-2003, 01:13 AM
I wouldnt mind hitting europe. I believe the Canada and Europe dates are being reworked to take into account LW8. :)

Ahh your going to be in Sydney next week. Have you confirmed the venue? Is the price in US dollars?
08-15-2003, 04:57 AM
I wish I was going to be there. Lee is probably finished with the 2 days in NZ. My wife is a kiwi and there was no way she would have let me go alone. So Lee was elected. :)
I believe the price is in USD but there is a group discount available which the Kiwavers took advantage of. :)
08-15-2003, 05:01 AM
aah user-groups have their benefits :) I'd go but too strapped for cash at the moment.
08-15-2003, 05:14 AM
Do you know if theres a user group out there? I know that the Kiwavers group had some kind of meeting aftwards so that some who couldnt attend the seminar could still meet with Lee after. There could be something similar going on there.
