View Full Version : Joint pivots in facial animation

Hi everyone. I've been looking at the cane toad facial joint setup. Was wondering if there is a system to decide where to place the rotation pivots or is it just trial and error? In the cane toad setup the pivots were in the center of the head, but this is not appropriate for all shapes.

This isn't very fancy, but I find that it helps to use a nurbs circle to show what the arc will be. Just move and scale it until you've matched the curve of the circle with the arc you want along the face, and then snap the joint to the pivot of the circle.
