It is for a making off jfnart.site.voila.fr/casque/casque.html (http://jfnart.site.voila.fr/casque/casque.html)
That will covert all part
best modeling way
chosing good texture diffuse ans setting
which lighting use
however, I'm not really sure how to start the shape, at left you have polygon version(with max), separate in two piece (in real, that will me in three). At right, you have the spline object, the good one I think :
but!!! the problem appear when I want to modifie my spline object by addind a cricle shape on each side like the poly :
check that :
that really deform the smooth surface and all the shape.
I don't want conver this shape in poly to make a boleen operation,
if some body know a way to do that kind of mod pleake help me to grow up.

I know that a lot of people are able to do this kind of mod there,
I really want to be better but i'm in front a big wall, help me to find door to go to a next piece.
maybe i have to do this shape in nurbs? but I think that I'll lose my angle, I dont want to be force to convert my spline shape in polygone if it's to make a boleen cut.

as for wich method to use ,it all depends on how you're good using spline, nurbs or whatever... your sig: If you want, do it.
anayway if it was me , i'll be using definitely editable poly :
front view , create a sphere or a hemisphere ,convert it to editable poly , delete the unwanted face, some extrudes and lot of chamfers and finally a shell modifier (if i want) ,
as for your question check the link i put it in here (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=261856)
and if you're worried about the topology never ever use booleans.

you should try poly is the the way to go for this type and other type of modeling
and for the sharp edges use chanfer it will give you a better result farter
