View Full Version : Particle dispersion one object to another

I tried to explore this in AE but it seems it has to be done in a 3d package. Does anyone have any idea how I can do this in LW. http://xplsv.tv/motion.php?id=152 You see where the "untitled" text kinda breaks out into particles swarms around and forms the droplet. It says this was done in 3d studio max. I was sure it could be done in AE but I was wrong. If someone would be so kind as to let me know f this can be done, with a short explanation that would be very great. Or point me to a good resource, I'd take that too.

look under image based pFX...this should get you going probably.

I'd recommend that you break up the video into multiple segments. The part before the particles morph into a drop should be able to be accomplished by using an emitter with the nozzle set to object->vertices
For the Untitled flying into a drop, i'd recommend you use morph, and if necessary, composite some noise over in AE to give the effect of individual particles. Alternativly, you can use gravity or wind to move the particles to a specific point, although I would'nt put too much faith in those particle systems.

pharamus - that looks promising. I can try to mix this tut with what blaqdepth said. I have heard it is a piece of cake to do this in maya and 3d studio max. What do they have that we dont have?

Seriously, I dont think it's impossible to do, as LW's particle engine is probably the better (if not best) component of it's dynamics package (not that its much good overall).

this one may be of use to..thou you will need a video paint program..like aura or simular..
The tutorial shows a spreading flame that spreads in the form of a defined image.
