This guidebook examines 3D character creation in Alias' Maya 6 (although users of other programs can follow along, it's not ovelry program specific). Character concept creation and refinement is discussed. High polygon modeling is explored, followed by UV mapping concepts and techniques. Finally, photo realistic texturing is examined using color, bump, diffuse, and specularity maps. The material covered is suitable for anyone with some experience in 3D modeling and is useful when planning characters for cut-scenes and other game cinematics. I'm still in the process of learning all of this, so this is aimed at those who aren't completely new, maybe theres a few good bits for the experts too. Feel free to comment and critique.
