View Full Version : The Monkey Treasure Hunter

Here's a little character I've been working on for a while. He's probably the third thing I've ever really textured so thats the part that's taking the longest with this guy. The gloves/hands, boots and everything he's carrying I pretty much just started today so they're still very unfinished. He'll have ropes strapped around all the junk he's carrying eventually as well. Planning on rigging him and animating him after.

His color scheme is bugging me I think. And I dunno if the beaver pelt vest is working really. And I just noticed there's some stretching on his upper back where the strap is. Ah well I'll get to fixin it.

edit: forgot to add this.

I think I'll get rid of that bit of definition on his pecks area.

ANY comments and cits at all are very welcome and appreciated :)

I agree with colour scheme. Model looks cartoonish, and textures are dirty and realistic. IMO monkey would be better with more saturated colours, and a bit cleaner look. (have You seen Ape Escape game?)

I actually started off going for a more cartoony look and then I just went totally with a realistic look. Not so sure it was a good idea heh. I'll probably end up completely redoing the texture either soon or after I finish another project. I'll check out Ape Escape though. Thanks for the advice.

Wasn't too happy with his body type. Too boring.

So I've been fooling around revamping him a bit. I haven't tweaked the UV's or textures yet because I'm not sure yet if Im gonna stick with this body. Hasn't been much texture progress since the last pic either btw.

I wanted to post yesterday but I was so very tired hehe. I agree that cartoon look would be best perhaps.

Also the eyes are darker on apes right? Like almost totally black? I think you have a good model perhaps try a cartoon look and see how it ends up.
