View Full Version : Which Linux distro?

Hey everyone,

We're currently running Shake on OSX and it's running beautifully but I was just curious about Linux....

My question, for those of you who run Shake on Linux boxes, is which version of Linux are you using? Apple's web site suggests Red Hat Linux 9, although I was curious if it ran under other versions.

I've used both Red Hat 9 and Red Hat Enterprise 3 without a hiccup. I really want to try out Suse, heard great things.

At the shop I am working at, we are running Fedora Core 4, and shake runs awesome on it. I think that sticking to distros with a wider user base might be a good idea, seeing as there will generally be more support for that distro. So I would recommend any of the Redhat, Fedora distros. Hope that helps.

joshone, is that Scranton, PA?... :D

To keep this on topic... I've tested Shake 4 on SuSE 9.3 Professional with no probs at all. Just for shits and giggles I tried on Novell Linux Desktop 9 (powered by SuSE)... it also runs dandy.
