Hey, I found a cool way to create a melon in really quick time. The bottom of the melon is a bit weird and its a bit noobish but I think it still looks good.
>> Create Your Sphere, extend by Y axis to make it slightly enlongated (melon shape)
>> Open up material editor. And select a new material
>> On the basic Blinn parameters set Ambient and Diffuse to 96Red, 166Green and 109Blue
>> Set Specular Color to 86Red, 209Green and 86Blue
>> On Specular Highlights, set specular level to 130, glossiness to 30 and soften to 0.1
>> Now go to Maps - and cllick on None on the Reflection map
>> Next to where it says #Map(Mapnumber) select the none box again and select Bitmap
>> Browse to your 3ds max folder and select Bark.dds (C:\3dsmax7\maps\bark.dds) and click ok.
>> You may want to adjust the Noise level to change the bark veins.
>> Now on Maps set the Reflection Amount to 80
>> Add a simple light and plane for the floor and Render!
