Hi i was wondering what wind fx actually works with? Does it only work with particles or can you use it with cloth or other dynamics?

Yea, cloth and particles mainly, something similar that you can use is Gravity, which IMHO, is better than wind in many ways, but thats just individual preference.

some with cloth or anything really...but not hardfx tho i dont plan on using that yet

what's the difference between wind and gravity don'ty they both just cause acceleration

A couple of major differences:

Wind's acceleration vectors support envelops, Gravity doesnt. This means that you can you can oscillate the direction of the acceleration when using wind, but you can't using gravity.
Wind's acceleration vectors support Texturing, which I think allows you to apply acceleration following a specific texture (image map etc)
Wind supports different modes, such as turbulance, which allows you to mimic bumping around of objects.
In short, gravity is more applicable for constant acceleration affecting a point, and wind is more for dynamic, controlled movement of objects.
