Using pure computer calculation, how do I make a wrecking ball (green) move via the movements of the control arm (blue).

I'm going insane trying to use Dynamics and the like (LW8)!

Please advise before I need a straight jacket!

Hi...I've put together a rough scene of your wrecking ball - using cloth fx on the chain, and metalink on the wrecking ball itself, to insure the ball follows the chain.

Select the chain and hit calculate in the dynamics panel and the ball and chain should follow the arms movement.

I hope this is the kinda effect you are after.

Does the chain have to be a 2 point chain? can I use a tube/rope etc??

The 2 point poly chain is used purely to calcuate the movement of the rope/chain.

To add a more detailed chain, built it in modeler, making sure its the same size as your poly chain. Load the chain into layout, parent it to the poly chain and then apply metalink in the deformations tab.

Your rope/chain will now move in the same way as the poly chain.
