Hey all,

I have never done one of these sessions before, but i need something to keep me going so i thought why not! - i also really like the timining of the audio. (i just hope i can get it finished)

Ok, after some thought…

Reference to the de’lorean / time machine really concerned me, I didn’t want to put anything in as I felt this could conflict with peoples memories of the film.

Instead im going to go with the ‘viewing art in a gallery’ approach, whereby the art (time machine) is behind the camera. So as an audience we are between the characters and their subject. I’m hoping this will make it feel a little more engaging and will over-come all kinds of problems… but if I don’t pull this off it could leave the audience feeling even more detached.

Some sketches to come…

Did some quick sketches to nail down some ideas but I found acting this piece out in front of a camera really helped. Here is me making a fool of myself… (no laughing… ah sod it - go ahead).

I also took a snap shot of the timeline in Maya and placed text where the dialog is spoken. This is only a guide to give me a better feel for the timing of the speech.

Hi Wabit,

I think it's distracting having your characters look into the camera. If you just moved your camera 15 degrees to right or left, you would be rid of this. You will still have your characters looking in front of them, it just won't be into the camera. Unless this was your intention.

I like how you have doc advance forward at the end.

Keep it going

Yeah, that was my intention... i was thinking that the characters are looking at the delorean behind the camera. I'll try your suggestion anyway... im curious now :)

Here is a little preview of it so far... some of its off but that will get tweaked as i progress. Hope you like it :)

Here is another update. Still needs alot more work - im trying to keep doc a little more precise and accurate in his movements to express his love for scientific fact. Marty is a little more loose but there are some poses im not to sure about.

Hey man...

Ok...first've got some great animation going on. Obviously there are areas that need work/tweaking but it's definitely looking good in the animation department. for acting, that's the part that's REALLY hindering it at the moment in my opinion. The character's movements are WAY too dramatic/exaggerated to a point where it looks totally unnatural and quite distracting. Remember...these are just 2 guys having a convo (as per the actual scene in the movie...which I haven't seen in ages haha) they should be ACTING like they're "just having a conversation". Right now they're moving around like they're in intence spanish soap-opera school or something....which makes it really hard to relate to the characters since they're moving to unnaturally around.

Anyways....THAT being's still a good looking animation....just needs some work in the "natural acting" department :)

Hope that helps!

lol... thats quite a good point.

I think its the part where doc ses 'r u tellin me..' theres just too much movement on the screen. I'll have to nock it back some. Cheers!
