Modeler/Rig/Animator: Chyo
Texture/UV/concept colorist: Chenga

Hello. First post here and first attempt in game art. The above images are some wip of an abandoned game development project. It was an attempt of a tiny group of 3 rookie game artists doing it; A modeler/rigging, a concept artist, and a texture/uv/colorist. This two models were done for torque engine test; around 1780 tri. with a 512 color jpeg as map. We have been developed quite numbers of concept art till it was called off. It is pretty sad for us, coz it is very rare that got such opportunity for us who really wanna join game industry.

Anyways, I know the works are really suck in term of quality and standard. Still, we would appreciate for any c&C.

Not too shabby, although those renders are kinda bleached out, especially on the last dude. But other than that poly count and poly weight looks nifty, and the texture and tone looks nice. Good to meet you, look forward to more work.

Well, I think the color must be crappy :eek: I worked on the color and texture on a LCD screen XD

Btw, I dunno how the right way of render a game model; What I did was "Use no lights" in the viewport, then work on the texture, then "printScreen" and pasted in PS. I try to export it into torque b4, but im no programmer, dunno how to manipulate it. Anyways, its been stratched 2 months ago. (thinking of trying the game art challenge here....hahah...too bad can't make it anymore)

Well one thing that may help is not using a totally white or black background, a 50 percent gray kinda levels out the image. Good luck in future conquests.

I think they both look rather nice. I would like to see them on a grey background however.

Hey there, nice work and cool character designs. :)

The female's eyes looks a bit funny to me though. It seems that she's looking upwards instead of front, other than that, she's a pretty solid model.

I noticed there are 2 similar sets of textures for the male character. The UV layout for the 2nd texture (the bottom one) is optimized very nicely compared to the top one. Great job on that one. :thumbsup:

I have re-worked this model; Shaping and reduce some unwanted faces, and re-painted the texture map as well. It is rendered with MR Fg, no lights, for gathering its original color. Besides that, I have been trying to bake the texture a lightset. I hope my real time look of this character would be like my render. At the moment, I fail to do. I shall post the unsucessful realtime baked image 2morrrow.

CCF: Thanks. I wish could enroll myself into game industry, so that could do more game art. For the female model's texture, I dun really like it too. It was done in 2days; uv-remap and texture painting. It is really a rush low quality work. I hope to rework it in my spare time.

This is some really great stuff. I love the reworked model, and the textures are very striking. Reminds me of Viewtiful Joe, actually. Took a gander at your other WIPs, and you've got an awesome sense of style. :thumbsup:

I really like this, the low poly + painterly texture remind me of the FFT and VS concept art, I think this is awesome, great job!

Above image is render with hardware render buffer in Maya 6.0, with the baked texture. I baked all the textures with a set of dome lights. Then, I remapped the newly baked image into a lambert shader.

Adam Atomic: Thanks. I fan of FF series. I got the big hand style influence from it. I like to incorporate that into my character design and stuff. Thus, no much of originality in my work.

I really like the last model, you have made, i just think his texture on his boots is a little pixled.

He looks like he should hold a sword, in his right hand.
