I don't have much time for this character, need to model and texture it before 4th July. Which is why these concepts are quite rough. Anyway, any preference on which one to go for?, I'll start this evening I think.

i'd say go for the guy with the wheel on his back......quite original to say the least ;) You shud model his facial features on.....http://www.failuremag.com/images/wonka_wilder.jpg LOL
The wheel should be a little further back though so it doesnt get in the way of his elbow when firing the rifle

Carnival man wins...
Since I have no High poly in my portfolio I thought I would make this my first piece of HP work. Still needs alot of tweaking but thought I'd show it while I ask a question...
eyebrows and tash...how would you go about this with a HP stylized head?, I'm not wanting to use any hair plugins. Is it normal to extrude polys or should they be seperate objects. I have a feeling the answer is seperate objects but the problem I have with that is when showing wires it gets in the way of the underlying topology.
Thanks for all crits and comments

Can anyone give me advice on what method you would use for hair regarding a high poly stylized cartoony model? Here I have it as a seperate object moulded around the head...is it my skills that are problem or the method?...it just looks...wrong...

you worry to much....i see no reason why it cant be a seperate object, it looks good

Been trying a few things, has potential...but I'm not clued up on how to go about facial hair in keeping with my cartoony style. Might drop this project, but keep a untextured head (without hair) for a valuable addition to my portfolio.
