Ok, prepare to ...... bear with me. This is my first Challenge ever.
Game type: I'm already developing an MMORPG, so this will be something for my game.
Item: Treasure Chest.
I know, I know. Someone is already doing a voodoo chest. I actually thought of this the day the challenge was posted, I swear. It just has taken me this long to get started. The key is that the metal, wood and symbols will be all very detailed with normal maps and nice textures. Hopefully the spec map can add some nice detail to the metal.
Concept is almost done.

OK, here is the concept. Wasnt near a computer yesterday and changed my mind on a few things. This should translate into what I can see in my head though :).

Well, forgot to get earlier screenshots, but I will get some more once I put it into ZBrush for Normal Map/ Detailing.
Its at ~180 tris at the moment. Lots more to go.

i like it since its very simple. easy to draw in any game. if you have a good texture, its even better.

I don't get that much time in a day to work on it, so here is the latest texture. No bump or spec present yet.

ah thats refreshing :) finally one is going to build that "standart" ingame container :) no weird "look how amazing this is"-crates or barrels..just a plain ...chest :)
please dont only use speculars on the metal. you can achieve a hell of detail when u also use specs on the wood! together with nice normal mapping this will be work out very well! you got my thumbs :)
perhaps you want to make them metal fittings a bit more massive and bigger. and leave out the symbol plate, which you set up in your sketch.

is anything getting modeled on the inside? Will it open when a player approaches it?

I moved the weekend of the dealine and actually finished a week later. Normal maping is fun. Here it is:

the wood needs a lot more variation. You don't have to make it look rotten and old necessarily, but certain parts should have more wear than others and the glossyness should change too.
Same goes with the metal.
