View Full Version : mirroring blendshapes?

How can a mirror a blendshape, so i can model say, the left eye close then mirror and use for right eye? When I try it gets all messed up. Is there something I'm missing?

I ran into this problem awhile back while working on an animation and it is possible. Let's see if I can explain without sounding to confusing.

1)Make a duplicate of the normal head and the changed head.
2)Mirrorr both the duplicates so you have a completed normal head and a completed blended head.
3)Open the blend shape editor and turn off enforce poly count (or whatever the option is that doesn't give an incorrect poly count error.)
4)Now blend the half normal head to the whole blended head.
5)Now blend the half blended head to the whole normal head.
6) delete the history on both and there you go.

It's harder to explain then actually do but that should work.
