View Full Version : cube maps - camera settings?

i'm using Veu to simply render out 6 images to make a sky cube map (camera at 0, 90, 180, 270, Up & Down).

I've got the atmosphere looking great... problem is the only way I can adjust the FOV of the camera is view a mm setting whereas it needs to be 90degrees focal width in order for the renders to snap perfectly side by side. (panoramic render is ok... but still leaves the up and down renders missed).

What mm camera setting is exactly 90degrees. I've tried searching the program (and its help) and found nothing so far... is there a simple conversion ration?

Thanks! :)

well, after trying every mm length, 18mm does the trick... just incase anyone else needed to know

How very timely! I'm getting into QTVR this summer, and was just starting to think about Vue panoramas -one rendering now- but hadn't occurred to me about a cubic. Great post!
Would love to see how yours comes out....

yeh, and another thing to quicken the process... is that if you can render panoramic, then it saves adjusting the camera for each horizontal level, so long as the resolution ratio is 1:4.... though you still need to add the top/bottom manually.

The skies came out great... you get soo much control over the look
