View Full Version : Using different 3d software teams

I have the opportunity to work on an Indie film project using CG and mostly live actors over green screen. The preview will be non-paid and then used to get financing.

It looks like there will be 5-6 CG people that use 2 different 3d packages (LW & XSI).

Reading posts, magazines and books, it seems to me if you keep control of the color scheme, cameras, lights and have each "group" work on a 'section/scene' that you can composite it all together with continuity. I'm thinking of the Lord of the Rings, where you had different studios working on the 'bird', 'tree', and backgroud, etc.

Since people will be working for free (for preview) at they're home studios, it makes more since to work in the package they are most efficient at. As long as you have one person that can keep everyone coordinated.

Any comments/suggestions on if this is do-able?
