If you're in Los Angeles in May (through June 5th), the UCLA Film & Television Archive is presenting a Buster Keaton film series, showing virtually all of his best films. If you've read my posts here you've probably seen me mention Buster several times, so if you're in LA and you want to see some really great stuff, do yourself a favor and go to at least one of the screenings.

The film I recommend the most, especially if you've never seen Buster (or silent comedy in general), is Sherlock Jr. on Saturday May 21st at 7:30pm. It's simply one of the most amazing films ever made, and has been ripped off and homaged endlessly over the years by everyone from Woody Allen to Steven Spielberg to Jackie Chan. (Jackie Chan is a HUGE fan and you can see the influence in all of his films. Johnny Depp is another huge fan that comes to mind.)

Click here ( for info on the series. And here's one more ( film.

And here's (,1,7569204.story) an article from the Los Angeles Times about the series.

PS: Don't just take my word for it about Sherlock Jr., take a look a the user reviews on the IMDB (
