Hey all,

Haven't done much character work in the past, but recently decided to try my best to start modelling human heads. A few attempts down the line I became quite happy with what I was producing...as a result of that I've been having a go at full characters. Here's some WIP images of my second character. Comments and crits more than welcome!

I plan to texture with two maps (both 512) and he currently weighs in at 3600 tri's (I went a little crazy with the hands and im yet to stich the little, ring and middle finger together). I don't have a target for this one as such..but I guess the 3000 - 2800 mark would be good :)

Thanks for any comments!

Hey Nattnewman...good start, couple of crits tho' I would scale down the sleeves incl the biceps as it tapers heavily, I would add and additional loop around the stomach and ankles also for better deformation? and maybe add some height to the head if you are planning on keeping him bald, if not then let any hair you build add the height/volume, even so the mesh is very clean...any chance of a closer look at the hands tho'?...good work so far:thumbsup:

Hey johnwoo,

I'll correct the tapering as soon as i finishing typing! Good crit, I didn't really think of that.

Here is a shot of one of the hands:

Good work on the prize-fighter btw!

Mapped and ready to roll:

Let me know if those shoulders are still tapering too much johnwoo.

Some updates:

And the flats so far:

Comments and crits more than welcome!

IMO the head is looking a little too flat at the moment, second opinions would be great =)

Good progress so far nattnewman:)....just some minor crits tho'...

The loops in the hands seem too close spread them out some more so they would work better...

The tapering does'nt look so harsh now, but I would suggest maybe scaling down the loop that controls how wide the bicep is, and to maybe scale that down...

Texture is getting there, add some wrinkles, freckles?, blotchiness in the skin, and very, very subtly add more contrast to the facial hair/stubble...good progress so far...keep it up dude..

Hey johnwoo,

I fixed the hands some time ago - almost right after posting the wip shot :) Thanks for that crit though, its appreciated :)

I'm working on the flats right now: I will post an updated sooooon :) Oh, and I've corrected the bicep area as you mentioned. Looking far better now!

I'm looking forward to working on my next character. This one was pretty much a test to see how I could handle the whole process since I'm not used to making characters. I think I will aim higher with the next character and see how it goes...

Cheers again for the crit
