View Full Version : Daily Sketch 339: PRODUCTION DESIGN: "Incredibles 2."
05-10-2005, 01:09 PM
I want to try an experiment for one week.
The idea is that a movie Title will be mentioned (Real or Fictional), and we will design
equipment, costumes and environments. As always we will have only a day.
Incredibles 2: Stick to the design of the incredibles, but create a new scenario.
And dont forget to post your topics HERE: Production Desing Week. (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=233926)
We will try to post one of these topics once a day for your enjoyment.
These are the rules:
* Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread.
* RESOLUTION : The image can have any aspect ratio up to 800 x 600
* They can be done on any medium.
* If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
* Only original compositions. No "tributes" or plagiarizing, unless is it an integral part of the challenge.
* The topics will be posted every day between 10:00 - 12:00 am US EST.
* The artist also has to post total length of time it took (Thanks Clanger for the idea) and program used.
* Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
* Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
* The topics will be picked at random from the list on this thread
(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.
*You can add multiple entries, but please dont post WIP (Unless you intend to update them). NEW RULE!
* Ill post ANOTHER thread to quantify and track WHO has participated the most on these threads.
PS To submit your topic ideas and suggestions go to this thread:

Bob Parr's ex-boss isn't happy being the ex-boss anymore. Mr. Huph takes Insuracare's assets and invests in a chemical called Viable-X - there-by giving him superpowers far superior to lots of --um-- far superior to lots of powerful things?http://img178.echo.cx/img178/8766/incredibles22pj.jpg

These temple ruins could be an alternate hideout for Syndrome - once the Volcano is discovered and closed down by authorities.

These temple ruins could be an alternate hideout for Syndrome - once the Volcano is discovered and closed down by authorities.... and Syndrome's remains are pieced together and re-animated (maybe too gruesome for Pixar, but I like where you're going with this). :D

3 Years on and Jack-Jack had had somewhat of a growth spurt and changed his name to Mr.Knuckles - Whilst he dominated the Adult Wrestling Industry - being 4 years old he still retained that child-like innocence....
2 hrs Photoshop (pretty much all polygonal lasso)

Love this concept for movies theme... wish i'd had a bit of time to work on some cool some concepts.Put this concept for villains together in about an hour using hand drawing and photoshop. The villain is Doc Holocaust and his sidekick is The Big Zero. It's not fantastic but ai had so little time..

Hey Tris3d - welcome to the DSG! Nice first sketch!
digital_embryo - love your Jack-Jack!
05-11-2005, 03:51 PM
Hey Tris3d you beat me to it with the half robot dude.
Here's a initial character sheet for Bob Parr senior. He's a retired superhero too and went to get a hip replacement but decided to get a couple of upgrades whilst he was having his surgery.
He has detachable limbs which he currently mostly uses for gardening amongst other things.
05-11-2005, 04:08 PM
hehe thanks for the welcome!

... and Syndrome's remains are pieced together and re-animated
You got it.

Frozones new nemesis, the Fireman! Just a quickie with pencil and ink. Took maybe an hour, though it came out a bit lopsided cause I was drawing it at a funny angle
05-12-2005, 05:39 AM
Stepington - Thankyou! - as elephants are my 'power animal' your avatar rocks - also your profile animation is sick - I love it.. - I enjoy 'painting' in my shadows - they add so much more to a sketch - I don't have a set way to do them yet - so I just play with different styles..
Robinayles - he he very funny - there is a scary resemblance there!

A concept poster...
And here's the concept behind this I worked up while waiting for an unrelated 3d render to finish. I definitely had some fun with this ;)
The Incredibles family are finally in their new home. Their neighbor, Dr. Pygmall, is a research scientist and an inventor who eventually grows so jealous of his seemingly perfect neighbors that he attempts to make his own family (his wife and two children) perfect, even giving them each unique superpowers while he augments his own looks and capabilities.
His quest for perfection does not stop there, as he mass produces do-it-yourself "kits" so people can look and feel better about themselves, unaware that in using this kit they have allowed Dr. Perfect, as he comes to be known, to take control of their minds and force his twisted tastes on the world.
Meanwhile, Dr. Perfect's robots build more robots, which in turn build a domed city far away as part of his plan to create a flawless world where everyone would be perfect. The robots' own "perfectability program" become problematic once they conclude humans are fatally flawed and must be eliminated if Earth is to be problem-free.
The Incredibles band together to battle the bots after uncovering Dr. Perfect's plans for world domination. Things get more complicated as Dr. Perfect's DIY kits have side-effects, enabling ordinary citizens to become superhuman like the Incredibles, toying with their new powers, in some cases even abusing them. Just when things seem impossible, the Incredibles come up with a solution and restore the world to its perfectly imperfect state.
Afterwards, Helen appeals to the world in a calming voice, admitting everybody has their faults, including her own family. "Look, none of us might be perfect, and it might not be a perfect world, but you know what? That just means we have to try harder. Things can only get better, believe me. Listen, do you really want to be an Incredible? Do you? Well some of you already are! Anyone, and I mean anyone, could do incredible things -- if they just tried. So, just try... okay?" Bob looks at her lovingly and says, "You're incredible." And she says, "We all are at times, Bob."
