Why don't you tell us something about your new project...
By the way, that hat he is wearing, damn..... lookin' good.
Looks like an old fisherman.

10 October 2002, 08:43 AM
Damn, this is amazing! Good work !!!

Did you paint the facial textures or did you use photo reference?

10 October 2002, 08:58 AM

10 October 2002, 08:58 AM
all the texture were painted in photoshop, this is the color

10 October 2002, 10:21 AM
i like the specular shading of the skin-looks very real!!!
also the fabric is fantastic!
your character reminds me of grand moff tarkin in star wars.....

10 October 2002, 10:29 AM
I'll be a monkey's uncle if that model isn't based on the guy who played Grand Moff Tarkin in Star Wars, it looks just like him, it's the first thing I thought when the image popped up on the screen.

I like the model, and love the texturing, I'd work on the lips, and maybe either tone down or add more stubble (I'm not sure which).

Anyway, very nicely done.

10 October 2002, 10:51 AM
you are right ,it is based on some one in star war.

10 October 2002, 11:30 AM
GR8 JOB!! :applause: :applause:

10 October 2002, 11:35 AM
I liked it so much :)

10 October 2002, 01:05 PM
Wow looks great. one thing you might want to do is check the placement of his ear it looks a little far back butthat may just be teh perspective of the image ( remember half way to the back of the head roughly). Anyways just wanted to say great work.

10 October 2002, 01:49 PM

10 October 2002, 01:55 PM
it looks much better than your previous post.

What did you modify from your last post?

10 October 2002, 02:06 PM
sweet man, looks like somthing the final fantasy team made.

ps: how do u go about painting skin in photoshop ?

10 October 2002, 02:06 PM
that is phenominal. Excellent work. Perhaps if he had a slight more color in the lips is my only comment. I put the image on my desktop so I get inspiration.

10 October 2002, 02:10 PM
This is an amazing peice of work! I really love it.... but i must ask... did you use Grand Moff Tarkin from star wars ep iv as a ref as you model ( and textures) bear a sticking resembelance. Because even his hat is almost the same.

just thought i would ask, either way

keep it up man...

10 October 2002, 02:29 PM

I can spot nothing wrong with this guy. I hope you use him for something.

10 October 2002, 02:32 PM
Holy crap monkey's in tha mornin' thats amazing man I likes it :applause:

10 October 2002, 02:40 PM
Well done,
1) how about reduce the effect of pore near the nosebridge a little bit?
2) The wrinkle here a little strange, just check it out.
Good stuff :applause: keepost more.

10 October 2002, 02:40 PM
Excellent. How do you get the water eyeline? :)

10 October 2002, 02:42 PM
your textures are fantastic !
and material parameters are very well set
only some 3S is missing for a perfect skin material.
I think you could improve the modelling again with adding more detail in it.

:buttrock: :buttrock:

10 October 2002, 02:43 PM
wholey crap!

two weeks?

that is amazing work, just spectacular!

10 October 2002, 02:50 PM
Reality3D "How do you get the water eyeline?"

I think he model a bended plane which folows the eyeball and eyelid curve and assign a transparent shader to it with specular.
well this is the technique I use for my models. But I will be interrested to know if he has another way to do it.

ROTFLOL!!!! I was *just* saying the same thing to the peeps here. Like its Tarkin before he became a Grand Moff or something.

Pretty good stuff! (I agree about the brow wrinkle -but supahstar quality none-the-less)

peace d=^)

10 October 2002, 05:22 PM

10 October 2002, 09:12 PM

10 October 2002, 09:32 PM
That is really awesome!

10 October 2002, 09:40 PM
Great model fantastic textures. Did you hand paint the textures from scratch or start with a base photograph? How about the hairs (eyebrow, eye lashes, stuble) are those painted or actual polygons? How about a wireframe?

Again, GREAT work. :buttrock:

Excellent work, the only thing that looks a little odd is the nearside of the ear. I think that is one of the most impressive skins, I've ever seen. Great texture, bump and specularity.

The guy looks like a very young Peter Cushing too :) :bounce:

10 October 2002, 11:30 PM
dude, what i love about this post is how unique and
lively your character is.

not obly does he look very real, he's loaded with personality.

excellent work.

10 October 2002, 11:32 PM
hey, VERY nice details, can you post a mesh shot?

10 October 2002, 02:07 AM
Hello !

Well done - superb
Your shading is perfect

Hard to add any critque but if I was to change anything it would be to darken the ear - not that the ear tones are too light but because compositionally my eye is drawn to the ear. A light area offset to the edge will always have that effect. The attention deserves to remain with the strength of your image - the eyes.

Bravo !!!

10 October 2002, 04:17 AM
A very good jobthe modelling seem good but your textures make it appear "near to reality" Someone ask you to check the wrinkle between the eyes... peter cushing have this little mark as seen on these pics again great job I know that you dont want to reproduce Moff tarkin but it will be cool, now you have the head, the hat what about the body..

10 October 2002, 04:55 AM
Very nice texturing!

See Ya,
Philip Nelson

10 October 2002, 06:12 AM

Just checked my ass. On target, Marty25. Goes to show you how wonderfully unique the human form is, and how hard it is to sift the good werd from my bad.

10 October 2002, 07:49 PM
Someone had said they would like to see the bump maps.

I agree.

Could you please post an image of the bump map?

10 October 2002, 07:08 PM
Yes thanks for those bumps, its very intresting to see the shapes and layers you used in creating that very realistic effect.

10 October 2002, 11:18 PM
very nice work!
Can you post any map?
how many map do u use? bump, specular, diffuse and..?
once again a beautiful work.:buttrock:

10 October 2002, 07:21 AM
could we possibly see what your diffuse map looks like?

10 October 2002, 12:36 PM

these textures are really very, very well made/applied, no question...

...but I think he would look more real, if the eyes would reflect the environment a bit (like it always is in reality) and become more 'glass-look' (remember, the eyes are always a bit wet)...

Just my two cents

10 October 2002, 02:41 AM
Could you show us a wireframe?

10 October 2002, 10:02 AM
hi that is reallly really great work man well done.
