View Full Version : Maya rigging - influence objects

Hey everyone, I'm working on a human character rig in Maya, and I'm trying to add a couple of influence objects by the shoulders to stop the armpits from overly deforming. I tried to bind these objects to the skeleton, but when I do that and go to move the character, the objects move along with the character, but the influence from these objects stays in the same spot, making it look like an alien is trying to burst out of her chest. If someone could help me out with this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

You need to parent the influence objects to their respective joints. Do not attempt to bind your influence objects, they're not part of your skin, they're there to influence it. You should be able to get pretty good deformations just with weighting first.
