in adobe after effects 5.5 can someone explain to me or put a link to a good tutorial that explains how to do the greenscreen effect . where it replaces the green with what u want? in a video.

I think you talking about chroma keying, look at creativecow.net or try googling around. Since chromakeying is a heavy-used technique, there should be a lot of information to see.

Why a video-tutorial?

All you have to do, once you import your green screen footage, is to key it out. Once you load in the file and add it to your Comp, go to Effects | Key | Color Key. My default brings up blue, but you can set it to any color you want like green. That will remove all of the green screen.

color keyer will give you poor unusable results, so better use keylight

It's a bit hard to find what you want over at creativecow but it's definitely the best ressource on the net =)
