View Full Version : Animatic to final render...

So what is the typical animatic to final render process...?

Basic workflow include an animatic / blocking /story reel of the sequence.

I know it's a basic rough version of the anim, but what to keep from the animatic part: cameras, light, soundtrack, ...

Or people start from scratch and keep this animatic as a guide like a lively storyboard ?

In my humble opinion it is the timing of the shots and the camera work that is "kept". Timing and camera work should be basically the same in the final version. Or to put it another way you use the animatic to get the timing and camera work correct. It also helps with other areas such as layout and animation.

Thanks Danmill,
I guess I need to experiment to get my own solution...

very simply sometimes its just black and white skethches so that more intricutre char. expressions can be held. ANimatics are tools to get pacing and char visual cues.
