View Full Version : lord of the rings - the two towers, new trailer out now!

09 September 2002, 08:56 AM
hi, just in case you haven't noticed
the new trailer is out now - watch it here!

this is streaming rm, and it's pretty low quality - but exciting nevertheless - orcs on wargs! oliphaunts! treebeard! gollum! gandalf fighting the balrog! lots of battles! its really got a much darker tone than the "fellowship" (at least what you can tell from the trailer)
hope, a high quality, downloadable quicktime version is comming out soon!

enjoy! :)

just found a better quality quicktime version, still small, though!

*Sir Eel falls over, legs twitching*

09 September 2002, 03:34 PM
funny , the score is the same as in the move "requiem for a dream".

09 September 2002, 03:34 PM

But let me ask, was that the requiem for a dream soundtrack toward the end.. Actualyl I know it was. That is such cool f'ing music.

THe movie looks great to.

09 September 2002, 05:23 PM
yes whats up with the requiem for a dream soundtrack?

09 September 2002, 05:39 PM
I dunno, but it works really well(the soundtrack)

Want to hear something to bad!

Last night A friend stopped by to borrow a dvd, he only has req. for a dream and tho I had seen it before...and swore to never watch it again since it is so freakin sad, my roomate wanted to see it. So i took my buddies dvd and let him borrow (oddly enough) LOTR.Now then. My friend is a music producer. He makes beats for some local rap dudes and what not. We put on Req. and he started saying how much he wanted to sample the violin part. We both agreed the music was fragin' amazing and then he left. After he left I really listened to the soundtrack (ended up watching it again...d'oh)

So then this morning, udrring my morning surf, I go to newstoday ( a cool site to see neat websites etc) and the first post I see is for the composers site...I thought "wow what a coincee dink!"

THEN i saw this post on the two towers preview and it has that requeim music...

Now am I nuts or is that a little strange?

09 September 2002, 06:50 PM
oh my god i'm at a loss of words

i expected this movie to be of a much bigger scope than the first one, i expected it to have stunning visuals - but finally seing the two towers coming to life now, as a huge fan of the books, is just something i can't describe or put into words

i had tears in my eyes by the end of that trailer

i think i'll be a poor man a few week after the movie comes out, from watching it over and over again

By the way, this tune is played by the Kronos Quartet.
Try them, you won't regret. :)

09 September 2002, 06:53 PM
craziness KingMob, pure craziness :)

09 September 2002, 06:55 PM
I don't know if that music will be in the actual movie, a lot of times for trailers they will use music from other movies because the actual score is usually one of the last things to be produced.

09 September 2002, 07:18 PM
yeah the first couple trailers for fellowshi[p had braveheart.

I just love that score from Req, so it was a all that wackiness I stated before.

09 September 2002, 07:52 PM
i dont know about others here but personally i feel the music 1/2 way through the trailer was much better than what they had in fellowship. much more memorable.

09 September 2002, 07:54 PM
They pull that stunt all the time. I mean look at how many movie trailers used the music for Terminator 2 a couple of years back.
Same thing with the braveheart tracks and the music from Gladiator. Stuff like that shows up all the time.
Haven't seen requiem for a dream. Worth watching???

*cough* sorry...

Yeah Req. is worth's sad. REALLY sad.

It is the most accurate depiction of addiction I have ever seen on film, and covers a broad range of what drugs are...not just the street crud. but damn. That movie just takes a lot out of ya.

Give it a shot sometime.

beautifully beyond words...

09 September 2002, 10:35 PM

I love seeing our beautiful country New Zealand in such an amazing movie!!

:bounce: :bounce:

09 September 2002, 10:59 PM
I thought they were shooting in Middle-Earth?

09 September 2002, 11:04 PM
From what I have seen, New Zealand IS middle earth

10 October 2002, 12:55 AM
Yep, NZ's a beautiful country.. the funny thing, is that much of the bg is NZ.. but much of it is also a composite of different parts of NZ.. and then much more is a combination of matte paintings and miniatures.. so people will probably go "Wow! that's gorgeous! where is it?" and the real answer is.. queenstown.. wellington.. the fiordlands.. roger's head.. etc etc. :)

10 October 2002, 03:12 AM
roger's head

10 October 2002, 03:48 AM
one of the matte painters. :)

10 October 2002, 03:49 AM
