Yes it was rushed but I'm first and thats what counts... Ha!

45mins - 1hr Photoshop.

04-05-2005, 07:11 PM
approx. 1 hour working time in Painter between calls at my day job.

04-05-2005, 07:13 PM
ok, this obviously needs some explanation:
i took the nuclear powerplant from springfield and put it into a realistic setting.
and (unfortunately) i think this setting is probably more real than everyone would
want it to be.

on the technical side i think there are missing a lot of dark desaturated browns (and greys) in the foreground, it's just too green and saturated over there, and the towers from the nuclear powerplant could also need alot more work :) - what do you think?

about 2hrs, photoshop

the damned - nice one, i like the style of those highlights!
fuuryoku - very nice, really reads itself as mr. burns!

04-05-2005, 07:45 PM
Looking good so far, here is my humble effort.

Paint shop pro9.1, about 2 hours,wacom volito

Great sketches The Damned & itsGuido!!

04-06-2005, 03:38 AM

Photoshop 2.5-3 hrs, wacom (pose ripped from an actual radioactive man comic - is that allowed?).

This is such a great topic, if I get time I'd like to take a stab at doing another, less comical character...hehe....

04-06-2005, 05:15 AM
Hiya guys and gals,

@itsGuido .. That is so funny, looks like the guy across the street from me...hehe

04-06-2005, 08:13 AM

Man thats cool Super. You humanised his face very well. (If that makes sense.)

Cool sketches everyone. Think I'll attempt another quickie.

04-06-2005, 11:47 AM
supervileg: love it!

here's my version of marge...30', phtshp, intuos....my arms still hurts, damn. :(
http://img202.exs.cx/img202/2447/marge9ju.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)

edit: well a younger version of marge...before she met homer lol

04-06-2005, 01:17 PM
Here's mine - I dont know why I even posting it after seeing Supervlieg's submission...
Photoshop, 1.30h. I spent too much time playing with their face deformations, and the final version is really, really not what i wanted to achieve. Homer is too much like cartoon Homer and Marge is too much like a strange creature. Background was changed from dark to light in the last minute so there's unpleasant dark glow around them :/

04-06-2005, 03:28 PM

Photoshop, 1 hr.

Here's a Marge, looking slightly long-suffering :)

The Damned
04-06-2005, 04:34 PM
Good job ( everyone. I didnt think this one would be as popular for some reason.

Anyhoo.. Seeing as no one has done him.. here's Moe

2hrs Photoshop. (I seem to take longer and longer and not get anywhere)

Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong?

04-06-2005, 05:01 PM
Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong?

I dont think there's something wrong in this pic, IMHO its rally great :-)
Maybe the shirt is oversaturated (so it looks strange in the neck/collar area), and the shading on it is a little bit... hm, i dont know the proper english word... lets say - inconsistent with the rest of the image...

But im no professional, so I can be wrong about that :-)

04-06-2005, 09:44 PM
Supervlieg: Outstanding. You make the yellow skin a possibility. Love it.
The Damned: Didn't you just post 2 cool sketches. Interesting concepts.
Kirt: I love the sketch you've done, but this character doesn't look familiar. Who is he?
ItsGuido: Now this is what I had all along about Homer Simpson...if he were ever real.

04-06-2005, 09:57 PM
Kirt: I love the sketch you've done, but this character doesn't look familiar. Who is he?Smithers ... he's Mr. Burns' lover - er - I mean personal assistant. :D

04-06-2005, 10:15 PM
Ok, who's doing a Flanders?

04-06-2005, 10:52 PM
Quick question... Does a sketch for a topic have to be submited within the day the topic was announced, or can it be within the week?

04-06-2005, 11:04 PM
Quick question... Does a sketch for a topic have to be submited within the day the topic was announced, or can it be within the week?

It can be any time you like, but usually in the week if you want it voted.

04-06-2005, 11:34 PM
this is a crazy - so many good ones here

well, had to try... PS/wacom about 30 min...

04-06-2005, 11:36 PM
I am LOVING this thread! (some of you may recognise my log in name as being from The Simpsons).

Great work everyone. I especially like fuuryoku, octothreat, kirt and supervlieg's entries.

Hey itsGuido, nice work and it's good to see a fellow Kiwi in here.

Supervlieg, I'd love to see a Flanders too. Especially with his shirt off and those huge muscles he has! ;)

Or how bout Marge when she accidentally got those breast implants. :)

04-07-2005, 12:36 AM
I am a big Simspons fan, but even I forgot about the breast implant episode... Guy Incognito, wasn't he the guy who looked just like Homer, but with a moustache and a monical...lol... There are so many charcters you could do.... Perhaps this would be a good topic for the 3D guys to tackle, then we could see a real Homer 3D.

04-07-2005, 12:40 AM
Hehehe, thanks for the idea supervlieg!
1 hr 20 min , ps

04-07-2005, 01:33 AM

04-07-2005, 05:23 AM

5 min, painter + tablet. no colorin', it's early in the morning and i'm - *yawn* - going to sleep..

04-07-2005, 05:40 AM
can't believe there weren't any other lisas in the thread..

04-07-2005, 07:12 AM
It's alright octothreat, I loved yours and I knew it was Lisa! ;)

oblivisci, your Lisa is great! I would liked to have seen the ever present pearl necklace though. :)

Also, dimitrios, you are right about Guy Incognito.

04-07-2005, 08:33 AM
Quick pencil sketches:

Supervlieg-> Looks like you did a Homer again:D

04-07-2005, 08:36 AM
Absolutely FABULOUS augustus! I adore your two sketches.

I'm lost for words.

(I'd love to see you do Homer and the pets to complete the household, mate).

04-07-2005, 08:59 AM
Octo: Nice flanders :)
Augustus: Nice sketches. What do you mean by I did another Homer? I can't remember the first one.

04-07-2005, 09:07 AM
Guy Incognito: Thanks!

Supervlieg: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=homer&r=d :)

uh oh.... ummmm .. for the record, my first one is now of bart...
HA HA HA HAAAA HA! Man that made my day. I have to admit tho, I only arrived at the fact it was Lisa due to the pose.

ASIDE: Did you know that you cant put too many exclamation marks in a row?

You have used too many exclamation marks in a row in your message body or title. (eg. you've entered "!---!" in your text).

04-07-2005, 02:45 PM
wow augustus... that is amazing!

have you guys/girls seen kirt´s avatar? that is what happens when you´re answering questions at the faq challenge forum.

04-07-2005, 06:06 PM
Maybe 1.5 hours? I guess the older the people get in Springfield, the more realistic their fleshtones get? :p

04-08-2005, 01:00 AM
Guy Incognito: cool, thanks!!

Supervleig: thanks!

The Damned: hehe, I do what I can. And thanks for the crit!

...fight the system!!

Awesome sketches augustus & teknotek83!!

04-08-2005, 01:20 AM
