Someone said once, that You never finish a painting. You abandon it.
I agree, so here is my final image.

The title was inspired by a Pink Floyd song. I believe that we live in a society were we all are masters and servants at some level. Even those in higher places respond to someone else or even to their primal instincts.
Even though the song doesnt talk about this, the title made me think about the way somene should run to set himself free. Free from everything. Thats why I decided to represent society/ master, as a mass of hands and flesh grabbing us and pulling us back, so we cant escape.

04-30-2005, 10:06 PM (

Some progress. Still lots of things to do.

05-01-2005, 05:07 AM
Nice, very interesting style. I like the characters and the overall movements and flow. Reminds me of an abtract cubist painting. Keep it coming. Will be checking back for more.

Yo Carlos!

One of the most inspiring styles I've seen lately! Bravo!
You're a true artist in my eyes!

05-01-2005, 03:52 PM
Thanks a lot for the positive comments. Started working on the background as well, so Youll probably see some more progress by the end of the day.

05-02-2005, 04:12 AM (

Just added the background. Now begins the process off mixing it with the character.

05-02-2005, 04:19 AM (

Just a zoom.

05-03-2005, 02:57 AM (

05-04-2005, 10:14 PM (

05-05-2005, 06:12 AM
Nice, very nice. Looking good dude. I like the texturing on the background, but you kinda lost that time clock thing which i really like. I guess the next step is to pop out those characters. Will be checking again dude.

cheers and thanks for dropping by me thread

05-05-2005, 09:48 PM
Hi Arc. Thanks man. Not sure what You mean by "time clock thing" but yes, from now on Ill focus on the main character. About the background, Im afraid that some detail is lost because of the resolution, so I guess Ill post some close ups later. See Ya.

05-06-2005, 02:20 AM
excellent textures dude!!... mhen i wish i know how to do that... & ur style its weird(in a good way:) ), unique... awesome:thumbsup:

btw, thnx for drping by my thread

05-06-2005, 08:54 AM
Very nice.

05-06-2005, 09:11 AM
Nice color, there's many details on your picture. I like.

05-07-2005, 01:01 AM (

Well, thanks for Your coments. Heres what Ive been up to. More details on the main character. Since the file is too big Ill post some closer shots, so You see what I mean. See Ya.

05-07-2005, 01:06 AM (

First close up

05-07-2005, 01:09 AM (

Well, thats all so far. Ill spend the rest of the weekend working on those hands.

05-07-2005, 01:20 AM
Awesome style, and I love the idea. The round background element does look like a sundial, but I don't think it's lost at all. One thing that does appear to have become lost is his ankle - it took me looking at the sketches to recognise the foot as its attachment to the rest of the leg is hard to read - at least at this resolution. Maybe a thin highlight, similar to the one you did on the arm, would help?

05-07-2005, 01:27 AM
Definately agree with Liiga mate, brilliant style and all, but the ankle is Def getting lost, your style is really something bro, love those textures. And the roundness gives it immense movement and momentum. Keep it going!!

Check my piece out on :
and please dont hesitate to give me feedback. Thanks

05-07-2005, 02:17 AM
Hi guys. Ill check the contrast on that ankle later. Thanks for Your support. Ill stop by Your threads too and Im glad You like my style. Im trying something different since I didnt want this image to look like a traditional illustration.

05-07-2005, 02:48 AM
What's up dude. I was just talkinga bout the compass thingy on your background, but you brought it back so it looks cool. I really love the effect that you are putting in this. My first interpretation is "Heaven & Hell" transitioning. Your character is trying to break free. My other interpretation is your character is trying to catch up with time (for some reason), hehehe. Anyway, looking good. No critzs on my part.

Finish it already
cheers :bounce:

05-07-2005, 01:58 PM
Whats up Arc? Im glad You like the way is developing. I also like the fact that youre trying to make an interpretation of the scene. Ill post some more progress tonight.

05-07-2005, 06:21 PM (

Started the final coloring phase. Now its time to give my eyes a rest. Ill post the final image closer to the deadline.

05-08-2005, 10:07 PM
Grab on to the light... grab on before it disappears... :D Dude, i really love that effect. It feels like he is breaking into this force field thing.

AWESOME

05-09-2005, 12:08 AM
Thanks for the support. Hes actually kinda breaking into something. Hes also disintegrating and becoming one with the light. No freedom comes without sacrifice.

05-10-2005, 03:33 AM (

Added some more refinement an details.
Ill probably submitt the final image tomorrow.

WOW... i could definately see this piece printed really big hanging on a gallery. It's simple in design, but there so much personality and content to it. BRILLIANT WORK my friend.

I think you'll win the prize of the more strange picture. Anyway the colors are great and I like it :scream:

05-14-2005, 01:09 AM
It is actually something different from what Ive done in the past. I guess somehow all this freedom thing helped me to free myself as a painter as well. Thanks

05-14-2005, 09:03 AM
