Latest Update: Final Image: THE MIRROR - Final (

This is my last submit, I wish U all luck in the contest!!! see U all

This is my idea, a guy watching himself as a servart of what he is seeing

03 March 2005, 03:31 PM
Welcome to the challenge, fym. I'm not sure I understand your idea but the sketch is great. Do you mean the man is stuck in front of the mirror looking at himself? If so, it's a nice update of the Greek myth of Narcissus. I like that the mirror has a curtain--I assume it's a safety feature that he can close if he's stuck standing there too long. :) Good luck and keep sketching. I'd love to see more.

good concept,
just wonderin if a scene just including the mirror, curtains and the man looking at the mirror would fit better. i can advice sketching that just to see what it would look like.

good luck.

03 March 2005, 04:16 PM
this is GOOD! How about a hunched over underconfident man (kind of looking like the hunchback of notredame), looking in the mirror at a proud, well dressed man. It portrays him being controlled by his ideal image.... or you could make them chicks to please the masses...

just an idea.

03 March 2005, 09:11 AM
I like the idea, from what I saw untill now is the most original(in the contest I meat).
I hope u are going to finish it... and u shoul make the character in mirror pop-up more,
the difference between the person and the dreem should be clear... i hope that i helpt

good luck:thumbsup:

This are only studies of colour, for to find the most dramatic light to tell the story. If you all guys have something to say It will be welcome, I think the "night" one is the best in terms of composition and importance of the Master, what do you think?

04 April 2005, 08:50 PM
Nice colours and very interresting subject !

04 April 2005, 08:52 PM (

Second Option

04 April 2005, 08:55 PM (

Third Option, this is the Night one I said before

04 April 2005, 09:17 PM (

First Option

04 April 2005, 09:24 PM
Definitely the third one! There is something really sinister about the red behind the man in the mirror that enhances the story you're telling, and the colours overall are much more unique and eyecatching. I would perhaps work on the body language of the man viewing the mirror though, make it really apparent what his feelings are and push the master/servant theme. Really liking it though!

More color

05 May 2005, 11:51 PM
The color blending in this picture is great. Very nice palette, really adds to the mood.

Only thing that bugs me is the perspective to the right. It looks like it's distorted just a bit too much. But again, the overall picture looks good.

05 May 2005, 12:56 AM (

Now I'm trying to define everything, the reflection of the mirror, the details on the wall, the frame of the mirror, the rest of the pictures also in the wall, and try to give more power to the master with the color and how colorize all it's surrounding. Now the image of the mirror is closely clear I will try with the first idea of a man on fire... as in the sketches.

05 May 2005, 01:38 AM
Ooh... the colouring and lighting is very good! At first I thought it was a huge portrait painting instead of a mirror. The room is also very bare of furnitures. How about adding some tables, chairs, the works, and have them reflected on the mirror so that we can see that it IS actually a mirror and not a painting.

All the best!

05 May 2005, 04:21 AM
Beautiful image! I love the colors!:bounce: Look forward to the finished piece!

Good Luck!

05 May 2005, 03:42 PM
Man the colors on this are sweet! It creates a nice mood, with the red being menacing against the blue of the room. Looking cool!

Buena Suerte!

05 May 2005, 04:33 PM

First of all I would like to thank your replies, I can tell you for me is a pleasure to see how you guys tell me what you think, sometimes I'm agree and sometimes not but is great to see you there. The image in the mirror is not finished yet so I hope it will have more power, the face is not finished, as the window, the carpet... In this days I hope to finish the rest of the room for to concentrate on the master. Thanx again to all of you

05 May 2005, 10:03 AM
the concept is good and the realisation great i like the color contrast between the bleue and the red i think is for show the bad (red) and the well (blue). But it's perhaps an other idea, good work

05 May 2005, 12:47 PM
great colors , I like that red/blue thingamajik !

05 May 2005, 08:39 PM (

Slowly everything is taking place in the image, the most significant change is that I croped the image and I think it compose much better, not so much presence of the window for nothing, now gives to the blue a reason to be there and that\\\'s all. The left side is also croped a bit. What do you think...

05 May 2005, 08:48 PM
man, this is awesome. what a great way of showing master and servant. really great work.
