View Full Version : rgb to yuv colourspace conversion

hey all,

i've posted this in the composoting forum as well, sorry.

i seem to be having a problem with some 3d work thats being output to digibeta,
the final footage on tape is considerably darker than my original renders. i'm outputting tga's from my 3d app then they are going into an avid suite to be dumped to tape. from what i can tell it has something to do with colorspace conversion from rgb to yuv. so effectivly it's "crushing" the luminance as it imports.

is there any way around this issue? at the moment i'm facing the prospect of re-rendering with everything 20% brighter. i'm hoping to avoid this if i at all can.

anybody any thought?

This shouldn't occur during colour space conversion. Is your monitor calibrated correctly, are you positive what you have rendered is that actual brightness?

Just things to consider. Other than that you will have to check with the person or people with the avid to see what their process is.
