Louis Jay Browne has entered the Master and Servant 3D.

Challenge Page (

Latest Update: Modeling: Evil Spirit Vers.2 (

I had more success, in 3dsmax. The mesh turned out much tighter, plus I was able to add details which where a nightmare to add in zbrush. :)

Louis Jay Browne has entered the Master and Servant 3D.
Good luck my friend.

03 March 2005, 06:04 PM (

A man of many secrets, yet a Hero for his many feats & accomplishments, beyond his land*
He now sets out to confront a great evil that has befallen his land & people... though armed with an even greater evil.

This armour feeds on the souls of living evils. Each time it\\\'s used it changes the wearer & gains a tiny bit of influence and control over the bearer. Though aware of itís effects, our hero arrogance and selfish claims to glory have made him ignorant to this, and though he tries not to use it, he never leaves it at home :p

03 March 2005, 10:28 PM
That sounds cool!
But I want to see at least 1 monkey in there. :) evil preferably. You know what I'm like with monkeys.

03 March 2005, 02:16 AM
really really cool concept image, i love it. . . this looks really good so far, i cant wait to see some modelling

03 March 2005, 01:13 PM
Wat-up Monkey Boy!? Thought I'd enter the 3D challenge even though I'm getting into my 2D again. I'm loving whacking out ideas quickly & digital painting them up... but my love of it, don't mean I got any skillz in it!! Man, I've been hanging out at conceptart, and even most of those guys sketches would gracefully pooh over my best 2D final offering, so I'm sticking to what I know best, & gonna 3D this mofo!! And dude leave those nano-bitsy-thingys outta your image. Gimmie a call... (after 8pm or I'll still be sleeping < Just finished a 2 day partying sess!! Zzzz

tdawg217: Very Very kind words! Hopefully the modeling will be more than ok too. Though sorry buddy there ain't gonna be any modeling for at least a week!! I intend to flesh out this motha 2d style first. I work 20X faster if the design stage is 100% done already.

So glad someone posted. With the two gazillion posts, I'm surprised people can be bothered to post that much!!

Suggestion admins: let the public rate each thread and then show them on the view page accordingly to there public ratings!! but let the viewed rating be rounded to the nearest whole number, so not to give away who is most likely to win!!

I guess this also would be easier for you also to monitor the competition.

Cheers boys

Now for some sleep

Interesting concept, and your sketch is a piece of art by itself! Good luck!

03 March 2005, 05:08 PM (

I'm not happying with the direction the monsters gone in this concept, I wish to employ some of the weirdness in the rough sketch. I still need to play around with it. Not sure if it should be an abstrast-blobby-Arira-like monster; many individual monsters; or one monster with many heads?!
This armor is a development sketch, I'll scan in a more final version I have lying around, when mother brown comes home so I can use the scanner^

I need to chance his pose too... It's currently to stiff and dull

03 March 2005, 05:47 PM
Hey I like "wierdness" too.

Good Luck

03 March 2005, 06:02 PM
Yeah, thanks Mikey

suk-grigorij: yeah your right, I'll try. But man, itís hard to describe weirdness in clarity or more clearly without losing itís weirdness! But here goes>>

03 March 2005, 06:05 PM
great sketch !!!

good 2d.. heheh waiting for more !
c ya !

03 March 2005, 01:05 AM
Hey, I like those sketches man. I quite like the idea for the armour too, although i'm not keen on the colour (a bit "He-man"). I wonder if the armour could be more fleshy coloured in places? and perhaps even some shell areas (maybe like a beetle shell texture?)

i am liking that monsters face :D Though is does remind me of the Rancor from return of the jedi a little bit.

oh and... guess what arrived today my man! :bounce:  :buttrock: :wip:

04 April 2005, 03:42 PM
The concept is looking very powerful so far. I love the idea of the armour being a living entity in itself, and I think the purple and the green works well. I'd agree with you on making the pose more dramatic, it will really bring the whole thing alive. Like the way its going though!

04 April 2005, 06:00 AM
Right on... ok, so I gave my age away-smile. Seriously, I had to drop in. I highly appreciated you dropping in on my post and recieving the kind suggestions/comments. On your image, strange, very strange. But, I mean that in a very 'awsome' strange way. For instance, Zepyhri mentions the likeing of the armour being a living entity, have to agree. Keep that for sure. I can actually see that concept working into a a dark sci-fi movie. And of course, loving the coloring. Man, can't wait to see this in 3D, I know it is just going to be wild.
As you told me, I too in return, will be here from time to time. I like what ya got going on.

Just had to get this in: Strange thing is, early on, I had seen your image and came to your post to view more. At that time I was going to post (come back to your link and post some comments), but got caught up in other posts as well. I was going to come back, cause I really like the style you have going on. But, then you posted at my link and when I clicked on your link, there was the image/images I had seen before and liked. In other words, I did not know YOU were one of the artist here that I had originaly intended to post with. And yet, here you came and posted at mine. Hum, wondering-smile.
If none of this makes any sense, don't be concered-smile. Simply what I am trying to say is, I like your style-smile.

04 April 2005, 06:46 AM
ē Bloody and Disgusting! that's the way I like it! lol, great start over here! keep posting!

04 April 2005, 05:42 AM
Hey Louis, told ya I'd be back. Funny, seems like we are all in hiding for now. I just took a break from doing my line art (which I plan to put up this weekend). Well, just dropped by to see if you had any updates. Hope all is well.
I'll be back this weekend.

Still playing with composition...

04 April 2005, 05:12 AM
great idea and concept, going to be interesting to se the 3d version later. see you and

04 April 2005, 05:13 AM (

This has the feel I'm aiming for.
Still need to tweak that composition a little.
I've nailed the hero's design and have finally started modeling. Itís going well, so hopefully I'll have something solid by tomorrow...

04 April 2005, 05:34 AM
Thanks for the feed back all. To tired to rant so gonna keep things brief.
Zepyhri: Yeah I took your advice and got rid of the, 'check my badself out pose' I think it paid off.

suk-grigorij: nice thread

Alex: Thanks Al, love the stuff you do.

dragondragon: howdy my man, glad you've shown an interest. Thanks for the suport ;)

04 April 2005, 06:47 AM

04 April 2005, 10:05 PM (

Nothing fancy to look at. Currently laying the foundation of each shape...

04 April 2005, 10:21 PM
NeoZoom >> Thanks. I'm V. lazy so posts are far and few between! So I may never get there!! :)

Noob, Thanks man. Next challenge 2D all the way! > Weird, but I prefer actually doing 2D > but have a huge itch to make everything in 3D! > 2D images tend to look a lot better but there' should be more possibilities with 3D - and so should look better > which excites me... and puts me to sleep at the same time.

Maxtor: Thanks bud, you guys still liking the first sketch the most? I'm still going to use that rough monster concept as the bases for the creature. Weirdness is my strongest point thus far, so I'm going try and run with it where I can.

Thx for passing by all

04 April 2005, 12:29 AM
Really great sketches and really awesome model. Wire please, it can be very usefull. Good work.

04 April 2005, 05:26 AM
Hey Louis, see ya moving along. I do like the new concept (dark). If your still using the 'live armour' idea on the character, it is going to be bad to the bone. I like the model you posted. What software you like using for you modeling? Maya/Lightwave...??
Again, as the rest are saying, can't wait for the final. Like to comment more but I cann't tell right now where your putting what? I am sure as you move along, it will make more sense. As usual, best buddy.

Dragon, out.

04 April 2005, 10:55 PM (

Helmet max work almost complete> At the weekend I'll do a Zbrush pass of coolness.

04 April 2005, 10:58 PM (

Wires,as requested.

04 April 2005, 11:11 PM
INCREDIBLE WORK !! thnx for wire. I can't wait for ZB version :)

04 April 2005, 11:29 PM
Sup peeps*

Maxko: It's still early days for the model, but thanks for the nice words > ^Wires above :)

DragOOnN: Lol, thanks Geez > The composition of everything is still no concrete! What I want will be a montage of all the sketches... I'm so indecisive, I just can't choose what to stick with!
I'm using 3DMax for this > gonna jump into Zbrush later on.

NeoZoom: haha, your back :) Thanks for the encouragement! > Hopefully I can get this models complete for the Final Comp this weekend > Yeah, times running away, & I need a "Dr Martins" boot in the behind!

James: Suppy? Yeah ma, it's gonna be tight > I want another update from you tomorrow ok!! hehe.
I've got no attention span at all > I can't sit down for more than 10 mins without doing something else! Which reminds me, want a game of counter strike now? :)

04 April 2005, 12:11 AM
yeh! how about a blast this weekend?

04 April 2005, 06:55 AM
Man, why am I glad I did not join the 3D part of this competition-smile. Those of you doing so, my hat off to you all. Hi Louis. Your models are looking great (much detail, even at this stage). You sound like me " indecisive". I know what you mean. But my delima has been as to which software I use for my piece, Photoshop or Painter (I've decided on Painter for overall painting and Photoshop for touch-up and finishing). As I told ya the last time, dig the 'living' suite. Hope you keep that, very creepy/sci-fi like. I think giving the main character some glowing eyes might be cool (aqua color??). When you finish it, it will make an awsome poster/cover. I will check back during the week. Take care my friend. Best.

Clean mesh, which programs has you used? Only Max? Hope to see the ZB touches

04 April 2005, 09:04 PM (

The current weapon design wasn't cutting it, so I'm changing it to this new concept

04 April 2005, 09:11 PM (

I see the Zombie-like spirts being crazy female banshes. I\'m going to make them really narly and decayed.

04 April 2005, 09:17 PM
Great concept and Modeling man!

Good luck!

04 April 2005, 09:35 PM
DragoON: Thanks for the kind words Dragon > To remedy those indecisions I tend to have a cold beer - half for me because I can't handle my drink. Then I'm all merry to make those decisions! :)

Illusion: Sup dude, I'm using Max + meshtool scripts, I haven't used it this hardcore for a while, and I'm loving it! I've used pretty much all the popular software on the market (apart from XSI) < Modeling-wise theyíre all as capable as each other. The only reason to choose one over the other depend on were you want to work. I see your a Zbrush user < Hopefully weíll be getting a Zbrush-3Dmax hybrid bit of software!!

MMax: Thanks man^

04 April 2005, 11:16 PM
Louis J. Browne hey man .. your modeling is coming along very very nice... i love teh helmet in particular of your early character very original!! the latest progress on the banshee is on its way mate.. still a wip... and it is looking half human/skull sorta thing which i think is what your trying to achieve.. and its working.. great job good luck with the next model... hopefully next week we see some texturing or maybe this week..:) good luck !! your flying right through

04 April 2005, 05:39 PM
Louis, great models sofar. The sketches are promising a very nice illustration. I liked a lot the idea of the green eyes on the chest part of the costume. It felt more original. Just a thought. Great stuff man!

Good luck for your entry.:)

05 May 2005, 06:45 AM
Ok, here I am at your 3D post again-smile. Dude, I absolutely love the axe designs. Very cool looking (man, wish I had thought of one like that for my image-smile). As I keep saying, can't wait to see this one finished. The models are looking soooo cool. Maybe you can put some glowing goo coming out of the eyes on the suite?? So far, as Jim Carey would say "I like it a-lot". Hey, viewed some of your other posts and noticed you seem to like comic stuff. If so, we need to talk. Man, need to get to bed. Will holler at ya Wednesday/Thursday. As usual, best my friend.

Tried res'ing up the evil spirit model, It turnout ok for this level of detail, but my computer can't handle the resolution that I'm aiming for, plus the mesh is becoming a mess. grr

05 May 2005, 01:34 PM (

I had more success, in 3dsmax. The mesh turned out much tighter, plus I was able to add details which where a nightmare to add in zbrush. :)

My longs holiday of laziness is up, no time left. I hardly have time to eat and sleep if I wanína finish this up. It's a long shot me finishing, but the monitor in front of me and I've got my blinkers on ;)

Thierry: glad you like, think I'll go with that idea, plus if I have the time have goo running from the eyes

Neeno. Glad you like, I've done abit more on the Armour - I'm working on it now too. The twisted horns on top of the helmet need changing to flow with the other parts of the armour now. I'll post you an update later-on, so you get what I'm saying. Peace

Mmax: Thanks man. Anything you'd like to see changed?

Dragon; Thanks for the support. I'll check out you post later on. I've been ignoring my other threads while I concentrate on this one.

These last couple of weeks I've wasted so much time on indecisions and redoing work, it's been hard, but it's going but better now. Later on mate.

05 May 2005, 03:05 PM
I can see some "tales from the crypt" inspiration, but yours is much better and much more creative!

Good touch on the bones coming through the flesh. Great job!

I hope u finish... no more parties until you've finished! ;)

05 May 2005, 03:49 PM
I really like your figure, It might just be the perspective but the arm seems a little short. But I like over exaggerated limbs.

05 May 2005, 03:59 PM
extremely nice modeling.good luck

05 May 2005, 04:01 PM
very very very very very nice:thumbsup:

wow impressive stuff!

05 May 2005, 07:36 AM
Hi Louis. Hey, do you have a website? Email? Really would like to stay in touch, if you don't mind. I have been messing with ZBrush for the last three years, on and off (no expert here-smile). But now, I am going to concentrate with it as I want to introduce 3D elements into my art. Anywho, love this latest model. Already so much detail. Highly like the ribs. the face is great and man, you have some great modeling skillzzzzzz.
As I keep saying, can't wait to see this one finished (still have two days, still have two days). but go, go, go. :bounce:
Oh, when you have the time, please go check out my final image (man, finally done-smile). Just have a few things to fix (thanks to Sel).
Ok man, will be back. And, best of luck to you my friend. And thank you for all the help/great tips.

Sorry to disappoint, but I'm not going to get this one done. Thanks for everyoneís support! Much appreciated.

I never really did nail down a final composition and thats been my down fall. This is a big messy failure, & Iím very gutted, but I've taken away a learning experience from it (Go to less parties!!J ) Plus itís been esp. awesome seeing other evolve on here.

Anywho it's off to the Wip thread for this mutha.
