Latest Update: Final Image: Done (

Hmm...Final image, Final coloring...I think it's both...I don't know...but here it is again.

03-27-2005, 06:00 PM (

working out some possible ideas

03-27-2005, 06:03 PM
look good, not that clear, what are ur ideas??

03-27-2005, 09:36 PM
just throwing down ideas, trying to get at it from a different angle. People are slaves to many different things even if they don't know it ;) My thumbnails are never very clear to anyone but me, but some of the ideas are dumb, so its better that they can't be deciphered. I'm going to try and nail down my final idea today.

03-27-2005, 11:05 PM (

The idea is that not all Master/slave relationships are hatefull, I will explore a coupel other ideas before I choose one to finish.

03-28-2005, 12:09 PM
thats excellent very nice drawing!

04-19-2005, 12:21 AM
I really don't want to be sounding like a jerk here... but there is something like 30 days left.

You seem to be VERY good on your sketches. And I would love to see you be able to bring out something before the deadline knocks on the door.
The more detailed version of the thumb that you posted looks very good.

I really hope you can make up your mind in time;

I've decided on an idea. This is my final sketch of it...I will start working on the finished drawing tomorrow. Sorry it took me so long, I haven't been digging my "style" lately and have been fighting against it, all while rying to learn to draw with the tablet only, which I am starting to like alot :) Hopefully my coloring skills can produce some acceptable results soon. oh..and the figure is more fleshed out than the rest because thats all I was planning on doing tonight, just threw the rest in to give the rough idea.

I liked the giant's death better but this one has some great potential for some ethereal effects. There's plenty of time left but make this a priority.

04-20-2005, 03:48 AM (

Here is the start of the final line drawing, woohoo!

04-21-2005, 03:22 AM (

Slowly but ....well .....slowly. How I've missed thee, free time.

04-24-2005, 11:02 PM (

Started coloring today.

04-27-2005, 03:10 AM (

wee bit more...

04-28-2005, 03:27 AM (

Still at it....

04-28-2005, 08:13 AM
You are a very good illustrator I like your line work . I have to say though I loved the concept of the giant dead and his servents morning him much better then the current idea it's just more emotional and original . Anyways good luck

04-28-2005, 08:16 AM
everything here looks great.. i have nothing to comment!

04-28-2005, 01:12 PM
Thanks pogonip. I like the other drawing as well, but with so little free time I wanted to work on something I could apply to another personal project as well, kill two birds with one stone and all. I may get back to that other piece eventually, need more practice anyway ;)

04-28-2005, 03:44 PM
Hi Werezoo,

Your work looks great. Keep up the good work. I am interested to see how the master turns out. I really like your lighting on this one.

04-28-2005, 08:44 PM
Great lighting and mood, also love your pencils.
Good luck

04-28-2005, 11:24 PM
The images poroposed concept has great potential.. and your skills are not to be doubted;

But I am not exactly able to grasp your Master and servant relationship within the entry as well as I was able to in your earlier... Am I missing out on it?

None the less I would love to see you catch up and finish the entry. It looks very good with what it already is

04-29-2005, 04:23 AM (

Didn't get too much done tonight...Hooray for tomorrow.

05-01-2005, 08:05 PM (

Hopefully I'll get the main figure done tonight...maybe

05-01-2005, 08:08 PM
wow nice purple tones, fat guy is cool hehehe!!!

05-02-2005, 02:47 AM (

Not sure how to get where I'm going with this one...going to have to experiment till it looks right I suppose. All kinds of fun tho :)

05-03-2005, 12:40 PM (

Getting close to finish...I think..I welcome any and all suggestions anyone may have.

05-03-2005, 12:45 PM
how about sumthin in the sky? it looks a lil bare compared to the rest of the pic!

05-03-2005, 05:55 PM
Good call NOOB! I'll try and put in a few winged creatures of the night this evening :)

05-03-2005, 10:21 PM
Hey Brandon, you stuff is awsome! I like the lighting and over all feel of the piece.
Very Sweet looking.

05-04-2005, 12:59 AM
Thanks very much Samuraikuroi, Going to try and post another update later tonight.

05-04-2005, 01:45 AM
hey werezoo! Interesting purple colour scheme!! Is a bit hard to tell if the zombies are being his faithful servants or are actually discussing on whether or not they want to eat the strange glowing human :D. I think what contributes to the latter might be the way the fat zombie's head tilted to look at the furthest right zombie as if silently asking whether or not to attack him. Maybe have them bow their heads to him in full submission instead? just an idea.

I can see that you are close to finishing it! All th best!

Oh yeah, add some flying bats or crows or owls for good effect! :)

05-04-2005, 03:33 AM (

I think since there are still a couple weeks left that I will spend the next couple days NOT looking at this picture, and tackle the final pass fresh this weekend. I\\\\\\\'m thinking it needs another figure or two looming in the background, so I may add them before \\\\\\\"finishing\\\\\\\" it however. Comments, thoughts and delicious chili recipes always welcome.

05-05-2005, 02:11 AM (

I know I said I wouldn't work on it tonight...but a coworker had a suggestion I thought I would ty out. Now I would like to know what you all think...Do you think the little energy thingy coming from the zombie head is a helpfull addition?

05-05-2005, 03:09 AM
Yes!! its better to have that energy thing coming out from all of the zombies towards the master. it helps to show the theme more strongly! Great idea!

05-05-2005, 11:45 AM
Thanks Jeromoo, I'll add it to the other zombies tonight. Anyone else care to give an opinion?

05-07-2005, 10:58 PM (

I think this is pretty much it. I'll hold off posting it as my final image for a couple days just in case anyone has any thoughts on it. Great fun to do, looking forward to the next one :)

05-08-2005, 10:32 PM
nice work! Lovely detailing and character designs.
dont get me wrong, i love the color you have chosen for the image.. and it is after all a night scene here which leaves you with less colors, BUt would it be possible to give it more color tones? i suggest to experiment a little to give it slightly more variation. I like what you did with the green tones
not too much though. It really gives alot to the image

nice work! you still got time to mess with the tinyest details

05-08-2005, 11:05 PM
Whoa! Great pic! I like the purples... but I'm a sucker for purple anyway! How about a bit of moonlight in the trees as well. The rimlighting on the zombies is fab! :)

05-08-2005, 11:14 PM
Looking cool, although it took me reading through the entire thread to figure out precisely what was going on here. One element that is especially confusing is the statue behind the glowing guy - it isn't recognisable right now. I can see there is *something* behind him, but it doesn't read as a statue really. Oh a suggestion about zombies, maybe put some glowing symbol on their foreheads? That should enforce the idea that they're the servants here.

05-09-2005, 02:15 AM
Thanks for the suggestions guys, eparts: I was trying to stay with a very limited color palette, mostly due to my lack of practice lately with full color stuff, but I think adding some subtle color variation might be the way to go.

Poshspice: I will add some some more light into the trees, good call.

Liiga:I didn't consider the statue all that important to the image, it is just meant to be something he is leaning on, but I'll try to seperate it a little more.

05-09-2005, 02:40 AM
amazing, I haven't seen this piece before...
no crits just my compliments to the chef, u cooked a fine piece...

05-10-2005, 02:29 AM (

Made some more minor tweeks...I adjusted it further into different color ranges but didn't like the results, what I ended up with is slight, kinda like the purple, what can I say. Also added more hotspots here and there, and some highlights on the tree leaves. Anyway, let me know what you think.

05-11-2005, 12:04 AM (

This is the version I am submiting as my final image. It was great fun to do and I look forward to entering the next challenge. Good luck everybody, I am honored to be taking part in a challenge with so many talented artists.

05-11-2005, 12:44 AM (

Hmm...Final image, Final coloring...I think it's both...I don't know...but here it is again.

05-11-2005, 10:37 AM
i have to agree with Pogonip as concerns the selection of the final idea...else this is very well done, great lighting...good luck

05-12-2005, 05:35 PM
