Latest Update: Concept Sketch: Basic concept (

Quick concept sketch. Not the best pose, and the details are way too low, but it's just a basic idea. I could probably stand to clean it up quite a bit.

Err, posted the concept sketch twice. Not sure how that happened...

You didn't post it twice, the thread just automatically updates the first post in it with the latest submitted image, which, in this case, is the sketch. I thought I'd posted mine twice at first, too, hehe.

Anyhow, the image is looking intriguing. What exactly is going on in it? From what I understood, the cat is in control of the person somehow. But how?

You have a really nice sketch going on here, but I am not really sure of what emotions are going on and who exactly is in control and why. But the image is nice

One of my cats, Titania, has a tendancy to hop up onto peoples shoulders and kinda stay there, no matter how hard you try to remove her. She'll just dig her claws in deeper, and she's always got this "Yes, I am sitting on you, and you can't stop me. I'll stay up here as long as I want. Now go, take me somewhere interesting!" expression on her face while she's doing it. You should see the scars on my shoulders. =P

What I need to work on now is a more detailed sketch, give the cat a more regal air to her. I'm unsure of the expression I want to put on the girls face, though, which is a problem. Personally, I find it rather amusing when I've got a shoulder kitty, but other people are less than amused at the idea. I think I might move her hands around as well, put her into a slightly more submissive pose...

I also need to learn to draw hands and feet. Seriously.

A very interesting idea.

Two suggestions:

You could crop the image and center a bit more on the faces and relationship between the cat and the person. As a fellow cat owner, you know there is a lot of potential in the face of a cat. :)
You could use the perspective vanishing point to direct the viewer's eye. If you take that into account you could further refine the sketch.

Just some thoughts...

Gnuh... I should probably just stop trying to start things, I really should. I never finish them, and this one doesn't look any more likely to go anywhere than anything else I've done.

Last month of school means I've got exams coming up that I need to worry about, and final projects due for various classes(including a presentation in English class on Wednesday that I haven't started working on yet), plus I've got to work out Summer work/living arangements...

Was going to have a friend of mine pose for me, with one of my cats on her shoulders, but I didn't actually get around to it... Shame that, as she matches my original concept fairly well...

Anyhoo, if I can find the time, I may continue working on this, but it doesn't look good for me, at this point...

This is why I cook. Art just... doesn't work for me anymore...
