Latest Update: Concept Sketch: concept3 : Tea Time >Demonic Lord (

Well here is the rough sketch of the demonic Lord..will make this a bit busier i think with a few more puny humans trying to get through his thick skin..but this pose is what i think works...trying to decide whether to cover the skin with more armour, or leave it as is.. the facial expressions gotta be stunned and working on that now..

Keep on tellin me where I should change and helps a lot,

welcome and gud luck!

Well. welcome to all who will help me out in this challenge..
The first time for me in a challenge, but I had a visual as soon as i thought about this topic. Before i put in the rough concept sketch, I will go onto explain my concept here.

Lionesses hunt the prey, but leave the first and best choice of their effort to the leader of their pride, The Lion. However my concept revolves around a man lying peacefully against a lioness and eating part of a deer, while the lion that hunted the deer, lays aside waiting for its turn at its prey, after it's master does with his meal....
I hope that was understandable, and will try my best, with your help, to make it successful,

Thanks NOOB, i do need the this is a start for me, both for the challenge as well as for painting,
sounds wayout huh, comin first time for a challenge with master Painters involved:D

03 March 2005, 12:40 PM (

it's a basic rough sketch..trying to peice together what elements I am to insert and the spacing.. will be adding in a deluge of lions..eagerly waiting for their master to finish , so they can have their turn. This small factor provides precedence in a pride.. the Lion that leads a pride ios the one that takes the choice selection, even though he doesnt neccessarily hunt the prey... also want to adda few cubs ..maybe eating off the mans hand, as in normal precedence the cubs get the last strike at the hunted prey..

hey whats up, nice concept you have there, i just have something to say, would be much better if is a girl and not a man, but im just saying, is your idea, im not going to try to change that.

i think the girls are the cute sweet thing on the planet, the lions will be cautivated by her body and sweetnes.

good luck man , have fun :bounce: :wip:

03 March 2005, 01:33 PM
Hmm that is indeed something I am pondering, whether it would indeed be better or not to have it a female, or a male..
guess..hmm..lemme see which way it goes.
ppl help me out with your suggestions though:D

03 March 2005, 02:06 PM
Hi Vinesh, I'm tending to agree with Genesisa, the posing of the male looks very feminine. Unless this is the look you are going for . I think a reclining pose like that suits a female where as a more seated or standing pose suits a male. I don't want to blow your composition or anything but what if you had the figure crouching while he was feasting, and the lions congrigated around him and the carcass waiting for him to finish.

Just a thought.
Good luck !

i am thinking of another concept now.... i want an opinion from ppl before goin ahead.. is this c oncept real good or just okay.. should i do a rethink..?

will do a new cocept up today itself

03 March 2005, 08:25 AM
didn't quite get the concept, but looks very interesting, keep it up,

03 March 2005, 03:34 PM
This concept is ok, but I didn't know that the human was a male, I though it was a female. This is a fairly generic piece, but I think it would work. You should continue to work on other approaches and use this concept as a backup. I'll check back soon to see how things evolve :) Take care!

Well planning on dunking the lion concept..though only for the challenge..had already started forming in the many lions that were to be there, but then got this idea of :
A great war scene, ..many warriors and humanoids fighting...a vivid battle scene... and in the midst of it all.. a Grand Lord of teh Demons Slashing away..but head turned behind his shoulder with surprise and incredulity splat across his face, even while his sword is going through an enemy.because behiund him is his butler..all prim and proper..waiting with a silver tray with tea...after all it is Tea time, and never should it be said that the Lord's Butler was not punctual...

Here just a few of the warrior sketches..which will be arranged around.. each one has been drawn seperately... and will be creating at least 9 more images.. The Lords image is of prime importance, as I want him particularly scary..also researching the butlers dress and pose..want him pristine lookin in the midst of all the gore..

Will update as i go through, but people, do point out wherever i need some work on..and wat your thoughts are about this concept...

Also..pray for me coz i gotta undertake this entire project with my Mouse :D :( hehe..gonna be discovery time:)

03 March 2005, 12:39 AM
LOL yeah that could be very cool! This battle scene would be a little cliche, but a butler and his tray with tea could totally work! I think you should have the master turn around and react to the buttler like he says something like "your tea is ready sir" just after he sliced an enemy's head of or something (the master that is). The butler should be this stereotipical 'James' or 'Jeeves' type of butler, a skinny and proper man in the middle of chaos, offcourse this is just my opinion and you should go for whatever you like or come up with.

A sort of scene like that could totally turn a sort of cliche subject in a completly mad and original piece, I would say go for it!

Looking forward to see what you come up with

03 March 2005, 06:30 AM
Hey rudy, You got my vision perfectly..a completely serious battlescene with mayhem about, and this pristine butler in the middle "May it never be said that thy butler was not punctual dear Lord"

I am trying to determine whether to keep the main lord on horseback, or to ahve him fighting on the ground itself...
I think a non human lord would suit, adn with extralarge dimensions so as to dwarf the butler<in case he is on the ground>

Thanks for your input rudy,

Hi Vinesh :) good to see u here mate ! hope u remembered me :D
Good luck bro

03 March 2005, 05:36 PM (

Added the butlers basic rough sketch to the image..have put in many layers of the same warrior images from last time, to give a sense of a crowded battle.. (the actual image will be having different warriors ofcourse)

The butler is facing the yet to be inserted Demon lord... just.. still in progress..but thought I'd post this too..

03 March 2005, 01:46 PM
was wondering whether it would look more gripping if the butler was a skeleton..? as the lord is after all a demonic lord..

just need some input to help decide what would make a better impact..onc all the deciding and roughs are done i can get down to the final work:d

03 March 2005, 02:24 PM
No I wouldn't change the butler into a skeleton, you could make em really old and 'bony', but IMO it should be a real human butler. I think it's a cool contrast between a human butler and demonic warriors.

keep it up:thumbsup:

03 March 2005, 05:12 PM
I agree, the normal butler adds the interest to catch you attention.

Thanks for the input Rudy and Oats.. I will keep the human butler..but somehow it seems sorta imperfect.. I will be reworking it a bit when I work on it in PS...

Rudy, the old butler is indeed what i wanted to have, but somehow ended up with a middle aged but bald butler..:D will work on version 2 anyway.
Is the posture correct too?

I am thinking of drawing up a dieing warrior clutching at his leg..but him straight and all butler like as ever..only intent on the Lord....

03 March 2005, 08:01 AM
Hey Vinesh. I like your concept, but maybe it would be cool to try and make the Demon less humanlike, maybe more of an abomination. Something completely opposite to man, so you could really emphasize the appearence of the normal, human butler?!

Good work, keep it up!

03 March 2005, 08:09 AM
hmm mack..good point.
lets see.. i have put in 4 arms, the face is gonna be reworked...gotta think up a good commanding face fr it... the skins he delts and the legs..
and even with this posture..could insert a horse like creature on which it is seated..
what do you think..
I had thought of makin it alternatively like the devill...changin it into that form..but didnt know whether a hell scene would work..or a battle scene
Incase of it depicting the devil in hell..could be cool too maybe..the utler of hell...hmm
decisions decisions
