i started out with a sketch of the ship the two crashed in and then tried to work around it. the little girl (with her pets) and her servant are exploring their site while the ship is being repaired.

i cleaned it up alittle and worked on the figures. i'll probably move some things around alittle but this is what i'll be working on, i'll do a quick color sketch and look for some references and start the final painting.

i agree with a NOOB!. great feel of story. looking forward to see color:)

this is a sketch for the little girl. again nothing is final, i'll probably change it more and since the dress is white , i could have some fun with the colors on it against that background.

This concept sketch is very elegant!

I have been watching all these cool entries being posted but cant seem to upload a milestone of my own!
I am completely new to this and would love to get your comments on my work.
Please help! What am i doing wrong? How do i post my concepts?

I think the simplification of the character's outfits are very charming. Hoping to see more soon!

hey thanks for the comments guys, i'm at work right now so i can't update as much but i've been doing little color doodles, i'm not too sure if i want this to have a realistic feel or a more animated feel.

here's a quick sunny day color sketch of the image. trying to get a cool, but still sunny look to it.

i've started coloring the background and might move the composition around but keeping the over all feel. the rendering shouldn't be too difficult, just want to get my characters clear.

jrr - hey good luck!

Nice, very nice sketches. Really digging the idea and story. your background is looking sweeet. The colours are brilliantly used and execcuted. I'll be keeping up with your thread bro.

ok, i've gone to a different direction. same characters but i've pushed them back alittle so it's more of a scene and less of a portrait. i've pretty much pushed everything back and trying to make it more dynamic. might change the girl's pose alittle more but i'm liking what's happening with the butlerbot.

I love your fresh colors and diagonal composition...!
keep posting: KornÚl

ok, i've worked on the background alittle more and the robot more refining the shapes and trying to make it more interesting to look at

i've done alittle more work on it, put the girl and worked alittle more on the backgound and the robot. i'm thinking of making the face of the robot the same as in my sketch. i'll be working more on the lighting in this overall, i'm going towards a sunny but light day with more warm color.
i've done alot of work on it since last update , but mostly on little things, i'm still working on the umbrella, i think it's alittle too contrasty so far. the grass won't be as clear and flat as it is now. i'll put more trees too.

Nice piece you got going there. A few comments..
I think you need work on the color palette a little. The colors are fighting with each other right now. Put a wash over the whole thing, and then bring out the tones again.
I love the robot's design, something about the pure white face really gets me. I would work on his legs a bit, he lookes like hes going to fall. The left puppy doesnt really fit right now. I know the ground is slanted but still looks weird.
i\'ve worked on the image alittle more giving it more texture and working out some bits. slight alterations and closer to finish
i played with the light alittle and added one more pet for the little master. i've also added to the background moving a few things around and playing with the color so it fits alittle better.
i played with the color alot and the light even more, i\'ve added another pet for the little master. i\'ve given a face to the butlerbot. and i put some rocks on the floor just to break up some of that grassy action. i thought it would be fun to really use color in this piece.
oops, this is the final image
