Challenge Page (

Latest Update: Final Image: Master and Servant (

well, here is the final pic^^
i didn't add lots of corrections here. i don't want to participate in the most details competition. i left some errors of anatomy, but i don't care. what i wanted was to stay graphic.

i have uploaded a full png version here is you like too^^

thx for all the comments, it helped me a lot, i learned some tips, and i enjoyed this challenge a lot :p

03 March 2005, 12:45 AM (

well it's just some quick sketch with no really aim in mind^^ i prefer to begin drawing what i like with the theme. i'll find the idea later with all the stuff that will pop out of my head when i'm thinking about master and servant^^

03 March 2005, 12:51 AM (

still no composition and all^^ i think i'm looking for a really living line, something that will really express what is inside the minds of guys in this kind of relationship. it's just some chara design. maybe i'll thrash this tomorrow^^

03 March 2005, 08:26 PM (

i'm trying to find some dynamic composition with the given characters i have sketched. nothing really original with the design characters and the idea, but i prefer to give importance to the expressivity between the 2 characters in a servant/master relationship at its climax.
i think their is something better to find for now, and i had the idea of a triptic too ^^ so i'm not finished with the concept art

03 March 2005, 08:38 PM
hi! really love the style of your sketches!! i wish i could sketch like that :P!! and i really like you composition, its got a nice angle.

anyway ... will be w8ing to see more! :D

03 March 2005, 08:44 PM
yeh ur sketches are great, sort of the way i was sketching in my concepts, lovely.

i'll keep an eye on u

03 March 2005, 12:19 AM (

a speed paint of the last sketch to see if it could worth it. well maybe, maybe not ^^

03 March 2005, 06:40 AM
wicked, keep it goin :)

03 March 2005, 06:43 AM
looks very gory, love it, hope to see more soon

03 March 2005, 10:17 AM
salut yz
c'est vraiment trash comme tu l'avais annocé
your concept is clear and ur sketchs are very dynamic
i wait to see first color and i hope u have fun with this challenge

03 March 2005, 11:27 AM (

some color tests. i\'m looking for a special hardcore mood. this one is a bit easy, i played with some cold/hot contrast^^

03 March 2005, 11:28 AM
that looks excellent ,great colours, keep goin!!

03 March 2005, 11:32 AM
Hi thomas, I like the idea of the concept extremly active, on the other hand think you has the others test of color, I find the green nuance too lively by report at the rest of the compo

eclipson, burnout: yeah groovy baby!!

anyway if i continue this one, i'll have to correct a lot the anatomy and all, i'm discovering lots of wrong stuff. i'll push a lot more the light too. there is nothing really in this one. but i like the concept of a very gaphical picture, with no really realistic stuff and all. this is so boring to see realistic academic pictures^^

mdn67: yeah right, this is really trash. but it's a 5 minutes output with nothing really constructive. but i like it :p

03 March 2005, 01:16 PM
Very strong sense of color but I'd expect to see something different. I mean you may draw (or paint) something what can be a cover of a book (maybe Master and Servant book of Ballistic media !?! ;)) Would not it be good? Huh?

03 March 2005, 02:39 PM
One of the most dynamic poses I have seen so far and the crayziness of the master looks so good :D I love it !

03 March 2005, 05:47 PM
yeah !!! good luck man, good sketchs ;)

03 March 2005, 06:19 PM
crazy!the concept just leaves me can see the insanity on her face..good luck..nice imagination

03 March 2005, 11:22 PM (

well i think i'll continue with this concept^^ it looks like people like it. besides i tried many other stuff on my sketchbook but it sucks a lot *o* i will post them at the end^^

so i've pushed a little bit the colors and the line. i will try to play more with the chain i think, i don't really like yet the picture but it's going on the right way i think.
i'll try to not lose the dynamism of the original concept and all the graphic lines. they add a graphic touch i really like^^

03 March 2005, 11:37 PM
Haha i love it !
First time i have seen the subject of the challenge , i was thinking there will be a lot of picture like this...but in the end it's the first real one i see ! :)
I like the color on the last one better
keep up the good work

03 March 2005, 08:32 AM
good sketch : good dynamics, and bags of drama !

03 March 2005, 11:35 AM
Very nice start ^^

I love the colors used and the lights ...
the angle of view seems great too...
can't wait to see more...

*cool un autre ptit fr :p
merci pour le comment au fait ;)

03 March 2005, 11:38 AM

Can't wait to see more!!!
Good luck!!!

03 March 2005, 11:41 AM
 I prefer this last color test, i wait the suite

03 March 2005, 11:45 AM
that is awsome!!

03 March 2005, 04:58 PM
goul: yeah i was thinking this too, but i searched all over the entries before beginning the challenge and it gives me the motivation^^

arctis, neozoom, okmer, mdn67: ^^ thx!! et viveuh la france huhu

i don't have so much time now because of all the other projects i'm working on -_-; (animating prevent you from sleeping) but i will try some new colors the next nights.

so, otanoshimini!!

03 March 2005, 05:16 PM
compositionally I'd advise to move the frame upwards, bring in the girls head and lower the servant character's face. right now she gets cut off (which is though of as tasteless by most) and the slave's face is smack-dab-in-the-middle, throwing everything off and making the composition unpleasant. Bringing them downward would create a kind of a bridge between them and create that compositional tension.

03 March 2005, 06:16 PM
Ahahah! I love your style!
Very insane!
Completely sexy, trashy!
Good luck!

03 March 2005, 06:16 PM
kinnas: ah you're right!! i haven't thought about the final composition a lot. it's only concepts for now^^ and i prefered to search some pose and design for the characters and colors. now you say that it could be a good idea to begin minding that ^_^; but that's how i like to work

03 March 2005, 06:53 PM
You've got some nice colors so far and I am really loving the composition! Good luck with this challenge :-)

03 March 2005, 08:17 PM (

i've pushed the compo a little more^^ more readable i think now. but i still don't like all the colors in (especially the ones of luc, luc is the poor guy at the bottom^^). well it will come later..

03 March 2005, 08:45 PM
the colours look perfect to me,i see no problems, but i guess the creator is his cruelest constructive critisiser.

hey thats a good moto.

03 March 2005, 09:39 PM
et bien meme sans ***** et sans ***** ca claque et tes couleurs sont chouette
je savais pas que tu avais une pareil base 2d
nice color my friend

03 March 2005, 11:12 PM
You've got a good concept going, and I like how you've drawn the servant so far. The guy in the back needs work though- his right arm's position just looks looks awkward- the only advice about that is that he be holding the chain with that hand too, or leave his arm hanging, in a fist or something, not thrown back. If it must be thrown back, at least change the way the hand is positioned (again, a fist would work)

03 March 2005, 11:16 PM
The colors are perfect...congratulations!!!

03 March 2005, 07:25 AM
OMG that coloring is really good! Nice use of warm and cool hues!

03 March 2005, 09:50 AM
That's will be perfect for me... I like that, and I'm sure I will be in love for the final piece... I reserve one to put on my wall ! continue comme çà, j'adooooooooooooore... j'en veux un :scream:

03 March 2005, 10:00 AM
I think that the green gives it that 60's 70's Spiderman cartoon look. Can almost see it taking place on the evil planet of the giant ants, with Rocket Robin hood.

03 March 2005, 10:30 AM
this is gonna be a great piece, the way u exercute it could tell where it leads.although there are some who did slave being chained up by the master.i'll keep an eye on this of luck and enjoy the challenge:)

03 March 2005, 07:37 AM
Very good Work ! I like it !... The character is so cool !... ... Probably the character (luc) at the bottom gonna be better with a more expressive face !... I like your colours too, but you may work more on your lighting... Anyway it's a great picture dude ! :bounce:

03 March 2005, 07:14 PM
mr. waka: yeah the lighting is still a mess, i have only given some colors and ideas but nothing really clear. that was one of the next thing i have on the todo list with a less rough line art of the poor guy. i hesitated to give him some pleasure too, but.. i don't know maybe^^

sidchagan: you're probably right for the anatomy. i'll revise it a little bit, but not that much. i like some errors because of their lines but i'll try to correct the important parts (perspective and fist)

all the others: thx! *^_^*

04 April 2005, 05:47 AM
I'm a little bit sad... no update here... ben alors Thomas... qu'est-ce ça veut dire... allez... on se motive.... Go Go GO... :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: I end you a special extra lemog boost for you... to continue :D

04 April 2005, 01:06 PM (

fufu^^ lemog woke me up. i've cleaned the line and i added some matter and all. i'll try to finish a good lighting next weekend

04 April 2005, 02:11 PM
Wow. What an expression.

04 April 2005, 03:38 PM
That take much substance... very powerfull... we start really to feel the matter... strong and nice... I love this kind of art... I'm rest here to survey... je suis vraiment fan Thomas, bravo :applause:

04 April 2005, 03:48 PM
I really like the colors, lighting, and foreground character in the previous post more than in this latest one. Both faces read better, especially the top one. And I thought that the warm/cool contrast was more powerful. The new foreground character loks more like he's scared of something in front of him than the "master" behind him. Why the changes?

Good luck either way...

04 April 2005, 04:03 PM
oh it's maybe the time. but i agree, i will try to stay with the colors and expressions of the 1st pictures. this one is just cleaning and all, i trashed all the colors so it's only a little step in the new colors. and about the expressions i'll clean them once the colors will be ok i think^^

04 April 2005, 12:17 PM (

i pushed a little more the lights/colors. and i tried to get back to the spontaneity of the first sketches^^ it's beginning to be more an exercice with matter and all for me, because it's not something i do often. i will try to find some other pictural stuff to play with in the final picture to stick the most with the subject.

04 April 2005, 12:22 PM
Nice and hot colors!

04 April 2005, 02:48 PM
Yeah, I think that's working a lot better! Nice work bringing the vibrancy of the earlier comp back in. And hey, it's not called a CG challenge for nothing! Good luck with it...

04 April 2005, 03:31 PM
This is great.  The color, comp, character are excellent.
i realy love the facial expression.very strong expression!!

05 May 2005, 02:49 PM (

i'm near the end of the coloring, i don't have a lot more thing to do i think. the next steps will be only cleaning and all^^

05 May 2005, 07:06 PM
What an amazing style! The colors are so vivid. Great work, can't wait for the next update :)

05 May 2005, 07:11 PM
very emotional and impressive...very relative to the contest theme...
ur style is impecable..

05 May 2005, 05:09 AM
Always a great pleasure for me to see this picture...

Don't miss to send me a high res pic after the challenge... I want to print that in big size... je vais encore me répéter, mais j'adore :scream:

05 May 2005, 12:48 PM
thx all^^

lemog: sure! no problem. i think i will print one for myself too^^. i'll upload a png file once finished. it's about 3k*4k it's not so big but enough for a good print

05 May 2005, 12:51 PM
ça c'est gentil... you're very nice Thomas

05 May 2005, 06:32 AM
dig your colors dude. i am really loving the composition aswell. This turns up to be straight forward and impactful drawing. Cheers dude.

05 May 2005, 03:20 PM
very nice entry yz!
go go go...:bounce::bounce::bounce:

05 May 2005, 09:12 PM
Wow. Now, that's a sick and twisted style (and by sick and twisted I mean totally sweet). Really like the overall comp and colors.
Joli boulot, et risqué en plus, très casse-gueule. J'accroche à fond.

05 May 2005, 01:02 PM (

to hell with this^^ spending too much time on something is bad. so here is the 1st release version of my entry. maybe i'll add some little changes but i don't think so.

i'll post a link to a bigger preview later in order to enjoy the lines and the graphism better, because the actual one destroys lots of details and all.

i don't have any title yet too, but i don't care. maybe i'll let something like "master and servant" since the concept wanted to be straight to the point. i don't know^^

05 May 2005, 01:14 PM
I just love the face expression on the woman. the color work well with the drawing style too. It seems to be a bit too much blue on the guy's chin, but having the guy in those colors work will good with the atmosphere of the whole piece. Hope you had real fun with it :)

05 May 2005, 01:27 PM
Looks extremely cool to me! (No idea how I'd missed it so far.) Great expressions and movement.

05 May 2005, 01:35 PM
This is an awesome piece:thumbsup: . Very stylish, but her left arm is so badly out of place, it hurts to look at. It´s like a third arm coming out of her back. outch...

The expressions and the layout are pretty brilliant:eek: . Cool stuff, makes me wanna watch Pulp Fiction again :)

peace, pete

05 May 2005, 02:16 PM
I like your painting style. It's very expressive and don't need to much details work. The dynamic composition was a good idea.

05 May 2005, 02:16 PM (

well, here is the final pic^^
i didn't add lots of corrections here. i don't want to participate in the most details competition. i left some errors of anatomy, but i don't care. what i wanted was to stay graphic.

i have uploaded a bigger version here is you like too^^

thx for all the comments, it helped me a lot, i learned some tips, and i enjoyed this challenge a lot :p

05 May 2005, 11:10 AM
OH Gosh!... So scary....

I like the color theme. So Hot!
Also the details are great.

Good luck!

05 May 2005, 11:35 AM
nice pic with more action i like the style of paint. Good work and good luck for the end

05 May 2005, 11:36 AM
