03 March 2005, 08:30 AM (

The very first sketch of my idea...

I work on colors, light and composition...

(sorry for my bad english!)

03 March 2005, 09:31 AM
Thats a very strong composition...

I would really like to see where it gets to. Tagging along to follow up.

Good Luck!

Line art version of the lazy Big Fat guy

03 March 2005, 11:25 AM
Ha! Cool concept. Are the guys at the bottom walking on fire? Keep it up.

03 March 2005, 07:30 PM (

I try to make a stange and unkind scene in one diferent world -color sketch-

03 March 2005, 10:47 PM
Nice mood on the fat lady! And I truly love the red elements on the bottom area of the image. Probably the slaves?!

a többit írom privátban...

Keep posting!

03 March 2005, 08:27 PM (

second level - the helldogs

03 March 2005, 09:13 PM (

I changed a few things in the picture for the better feeling, but i have not enough time for drawing..!

03 March 2005, 09:22 PM

Dude, You make me proud being hungarian! Waiting for updates!

peace, pete

03 March 2005, 01:58 AM
Hey how come I didn't get a notification on the updates on this one?!!!

Well good thing I was wondering around! I guess I just deleted it by accident.

Your work is REALLY pulling itself together. Inspite the details you are now adding in, you have not lost anything yet from the fantastic colour plan you had started out with.

It's going fantastic

03 March 2005, 08:05 AM
Great Evolution of the concept!

Nagyon tetszik, jó, hogy egyből le tudtad tenni a koncepciódat, ami ráadásul eredeti is! Hajrá!

I Love how the fat lady is feeding the monsters...great mood and style. I'm looking forward to your final image!

03 March 2005, 08:27 AM
Fun concept dude. I like that little touch of humor. The clouds are looking nice so far.
Keep it up.

03 March 2005, 10:06 AM
This is gonna be so cool when it's finished! Keep it up! (btw, the fatty looks good! not good-looking but done well) :P

03 March 2005, 10:28 AM
Ah wow, this one is great! cool concept and it's comming together really well:thumbsup:

I was wondering if there's gonna be a row of slaves in the back carrying the fat guy because it would be impossible for those 3 slaves in the front to keep it in the air like this. Right now the backside would touch the ground.

Anyways, great job, I'll keep checking

03 March 2005, 10:33 AM
Nice to see some hungarians here
(Hellóóó :))
Nice idea and cool colors!
Keep doin'

Good luck

04 April 2005, 01:38 PM (

I worked with the slaves and a little servant - and a bit on a composition...

(sorry for my terrible english)

04 April 2005, 01:50 PM

Great progress! No crits!

04 April 2005, 02:21 PM
Great idea, like it very much :)

04 April 2005, 05:05 PM
The subjugation in this is really apparent, and the perspective from below--the slave's position--is very appropriate.

*giggles madly* Sorry, but I just glanced back at the piece, saw the positioning of the torch, and got a horrible mental image of the back of the fan-bearer's loincloth going up in flames!

04 April 2005, 05:17 PM
Fény derült a cselédekre:) . Remélem portrait-formátumú lesz. Nagyon szép a háttered!

You know what I think:thumbsup:

peace, pete

04 April 2005, 05:35 PM
Nice work so far! I liked it before, but I like it even more with the figures supporting the platform and the additional servant with the fan. The sky is really starting to come together, too. Good luck with it!

04 April 2005, 04:37 PM (

I have made some detailing on the worm and windy desert...

04 April 2005, 09:01 PM (

I just redraw the servant and warming up the colorit of a picture. It need much more cleanup and 2 or 3 slaves more to the back.

C and c are most welcome!

(sorry for my english...)

04 April 2005, 09:02 PM

lookin excellent!!

04 April 2005, 09:27 PM

Önmagában is szinte megállja a helyét! További jó alkotást!

Nice progress! Nothing to crit.

04 April 2005, 03:12 AM
very nice update. Those skeleton creatures are working well with the environment.
The only thing i'm not to sure of is the angel. your old composition was working well.
Right now, the angel is kind of competiting with your main character (the master). I don't think you need it. Your piece is stronger without it, because your focal point is right smack in the middle or where the master is which is the brightest area in your piece. Keep it up.

My master & servant entry (

04 April 2005, 03:33 AM
your work is very interesting looks surrealistic, looks like alot of thought went into it i like the fact theres a lil cherub being a servant in such a demonic and evil place :D

04 April 2005, 05:40 AM
Like Arc80, I am not too sure about the cupid there.

You have managed to blend him in some what with the enforced participation (rope tied)... So it is your call. But shall you decide to keep him. The position and motion it has seems very wrong. Instead of him flying in the air and in the meanwhile fanning the 'master'... it seems as if the fan is a stick in the air, and the cherub just hanging onto it.

It needs some amount of motion counter motion there in order to be convincingly waving that fan. Unless ofcourse he is not actually suppose to be fanning.

The background is breath taking. It sort of breaks from the foreground characters at this stage (Especially the fat man) since they seem more liked inked characters yet. But it's easy to see that you are slowly blending it all in. So nothing to say there.

In overall the image is growing to be very powerful

04 April 2005, 07:21 AM
Thanks for everyone! I will work with a servant - yes, it is breaks the original composition...
I try to draw it again in other pose and place...

cheers: Kornél

(sorry for my english)

04 April 2005, 07:51 AM
nice sky, overall is pretty,...goodlux dude

04 April 2005, 08:41 AM
Just cool. What ore,it just has a great look and feel. The idea too is just the ticket.:buttrock:

04 April 2005, 08:44 AM
Hahahaha... this is hilarious.

I had a dream bit like this last night. But i think my bum looked bigger...? And i was being carried by Thai dancing girls.

it looks really promising and i really like the lighting and the detail... by slaves, do you mean more cherub types..? I think figures to the back (particularly fluttering cherubs) would help with the perspective and the depth.

Good luck!

04 April 2005, 09:33 AM
Always good to see fine artwork from fellow countymen. Excellent skills you have! Tetszett a Munchausen-es munkad is! Kitartas!

04 April 2005, 03:19 PM
nice to see another angel in chains concept here :) And yours look really good and innovative I don't even have a change :(

But best of luck to you and keep those cool pics coming :)

- Arto

04 April 2005, 03:23 PM
Looking good. I like the colours, reminiscent of an old oil painting.

04 April 2005, 11:05 AM
Szia Kornél!

Példaértékű a pályamunkád!

I really like your panting, you've still got some contour lines left on your demon heads, but I know this is still a WIP!

always inspiring! espacially the lights and the humour you put into the image!

cheers Adam

04 April 2005, 12:50 PM
I really love the renaissance look this painting has, the colours in the sky I particularly like. The message is certainly clear, the guy on the platform is nicely repulsive. Only minor crit is that the fan looks like a mop. But other than that, like it very much!

04 April 2005, 09:35 AM (

Next step with some detailing...

C and c are most welcome!

(sorry for my english...)

04 April 2005, 09:46 AM
That sir is badass !! Everything about that picture is well done ...and ive not seen a picture like it so great concept !

04 April 2005, 09:48 PM (

a little update with a two beasts...

c and a are most welcomed!

04 April 2005, 11:27 PM
Looking great, the man's expression is amazing, and I like the details (especially the brush strokes, they give the drawing a lot of character). The animals look good as well.

04 April 2005, 03:19 PM
I like youre style, mate.
Nice design on the thing the master is laying on
Good work

04 April 2005, 03:25 PM
COol. the details are coming out quite nicely and the colours i think are blending well. This might be weird, but somehow, i'm still not feeling his weight affect on those skeletons. Maybe because their gestures all look the same or some of their facial expressions are not exaggurated enough... or Maybe it's just me overthinking thinks, hehe.

04 April 2005, 09:38 PM (

work, work, and more work on it... and it need more thing to do on details!

c and c are most welcome!
thanks: Kornél

(sorry for my bad english)

04 April 2005, 10:00 PM
This is looking really good. Keep it up!

04 April 2005, 10:06 PM
I think it is going to be a masterpiece

04 April 2005, 10:20 PM
I think this is a great piece of art... sorry I haven't posted here yet, but I have been watching (all sneaky and stuff).

Your attention to detail is EXCELLENT! I am amazed... nice colours too! The strong orange streaks in the sky above the fat guy may need to be blended in a little more? I like the colour, it just seems to be a bit too strong... *shrugs* just a suggestion.

Your designs for all the characters and creatures is brilliant! And I especially love the white skeleton laying on the ground in the bg, LOL. Nice touch.

04 April 2005, 11:54 PM
Great work! It really is a very interesting and beautifully done pieace. So far one of my favorites! Great job!

04 April 2005, 12:02 AM

04 April 2005, 09:39 PM
What a wonderfully RICH piece of art. Great combination of colours, lovely textures and details too. This is the kind of piece where I enjoy just letting my eye roam around the painting discovering little rich details you've so masterfully rendered. Excellent stuff! :bounce:

04 April 2005, 09:24 PM
totally wicked!!:bounce: cant say anything right, stl trying to digest the image... great work!!

04 April 2005, 09:54 PM
Hey Kornel, that's so unique! Very good idea, and bold execution, though watch for that stony column on the right, I think it's distracting from the focus of the pic without adding much to it. Is it close or far away?

Beautiful sky by the way!

04 April 2005, 10:20 PM
ur not far not far at all.... man i love the worm color... very nice concept and visualisation.... and just for a creazy idea... what do u think of giving that big guy holding a cell phone...(i donno whare that came from, but it sure gives a funny kick, u can just do that for fun[bt dont keep it in the final scene]) :buttrock: :buttrock: :buttrock:

04 April 2005, 10:46 PM
Hi Kornel! You're almost finished!

Congratulations on one of the best entries!

04 April 2005, 11:23 PM
Great work Kornél. The only thing that bothers me a bit is that shape to the right. I think it calls too much attention, and I don't think it adds much. The dark sky is wonderful!
Also, I think you could aim for a different format. Square formats are a bit static in my opinion. But, perhaps it's getting too close to the end to be changing formats, so don't's looking really good as it is.

04 April 2005, 11:36 PM
You've got such a style. I love the way you designed the characters and what they are walking on... And those menacing clouds gives a great mood and adds to the atmosphere of the piece.

I'll definatly have to go check out your challenge page to have a little more information on your concept. :)

04 April 2005, 10:57 AM
Thanks girls and guys!

...I will delete the rock and try to find another way to make a perfect depth... :)

best regards: Kornél

04 April 2005, 11:44 AM
Hi, your work is more powerful, you with you living a few times on my
planet, go, go for the continuation.

04 April 2005, 05:11 PM
Hi Kornel!

Thank you so much for your support!

You're helping me a lot!

(mégegyszer köszi a sok segítséget, tényleg sokat segítesz!)

04 April 2005, 06:27 PM
Absoulutely outsanding piece. The colors are fantastic and you displayed the weight on the servants very well!:buttrock:

04 April 2005, 03:23 AM
:applause: :applause: :applause:

04 April 2005, 03:55 AM
Hey.. this isn't Master and Servant any more.... it is literally Master and SLAVE(s) :)

Gosh... merci man!
Your foreground is turning out very good.. and very impressive to many standards.. but unfortunately at this state, your background looks so much better.

Would it be too bad an idea to sort of shrink the foreground characters such as to have the background tower more? Not just because of the cool looking background.. but also because it has a great variaty of colours at the level the master is raised up to.
And with how the image is now: It is getting a bit confusing.
I love the contrast of the dark monsters profile, to the high lit sky and the masters fat tan arse to the dark clouds.. It is just that as I look at the background you posted without the figures; it seems as if the figures would fit in so much better smalller.more to the horizons hight.

Just a thought..

04 April 2005, 05:27 AM
Whoa! Killer piece! Love the detail. I would pop in a few specular highlights on his bum and call it finished!

04 April 2005, 06:22 AM
thats some serious torturing man~great mood and lovely details.i think u are almost there~best of luck:)

04 April 2005, 07:24 AM (

Thanks for all for the suggestions! I removed the rock and try to change for a better composition... I dont know whitch is the better way - any suggestion?

thanks a lot!

(and sorry for my english)

04 April 2005, 08:23 AM
This piece is very cool! I love the colors (the greens especially) you've rendered in the sky! I like the fat man being carried better than what you had before. I think compositionally, it would be better to crop closer to the main action of the piece. A strong vertical....

Something like this:

All of the rendering on the left is lovely (the light filtering through the clouds is really well done!) but it kind of feels empty. ...It's up to you of course....

The only other thing that is bothering me at this point (and it might just be me) is that you don't see anything in the foreground that would be very close to the viewer's eye. Because of that, right now it kind of feels to me like the viewer is distanced or detatched from the scene. In your "Baron's Fly" piece, you did it very well... The helms of the people in the crowd feel like they're only inches or feet from the viewer's eye.

Maybe (just maybe) raise a few of the pillars in the foreground up just a little bit.

Great work!!

04 April 2005, 12:23 PM
Hi Kornel! Great entry. The sky/background mood is really excellent.

Maybe, though, the very bright patch of sky to the right, especially in the larger layout, draws the focus away from the central theme. Maybe the intended focus could be strengthened if the reptile creature in the center was a bit brighter?

Regarding the overall composition, I think there’s some inbalance involved with both layouts. With the larger one, there seems to be too much free space to the left; with the other one, the patch of sky overhead with the birdlike creatures gains almost as much weight as the central theme.

:) <- Lutz

04 April 2005, 02:18 PM
What a unique vision you have, Kornel. I have some suggestion for your lighting and composition. I feel the whites in the sky are too distracting. How about having that 'white' light source directly overhead the subjects casting strong and dramatic reflections and shadows instead. It might help to highlight the master better and at the same time also serve to tell the viewer that those people under its shadow are the servants. Also, focus the composition on the figures by not showing too much of the background. Something like the second comp you did, but a bit more closer to the subjects to attract attention.

This is just my idea. Once again, great vision!

04 April 2005, 04:01 PM

I think your work is so beautiful....piece of work :applause:
The colors, everything......

04 April 2005, 04:33 PM
I prefer the more horizontal version.

Maybe you could try a sky with the white parts just a little darker, because like this, is distracting us ... it´s calling more attention than the master ...

04 April 2005, 06:36 PM
Aauuuuhhh poor guys (servants)! That's meeeeeeaaan.

Great master servant substance.

04 April 2005, 06:59 PM
Hi, specially I love these dynamic clouds and the slaves tiring expression! very very well done!

04 April 2005, 07:20 PM
What can i say, the sky and the overall mood is simply breathtaking. It reminds me of the skies painted by the genius John Martin. It has that old classical look to it, almost biblical. Awesome mate, cant wait to see the finished piece. Good Luck.

04 April 2005, 11:47 PM

Hi, I think the square format works better, because it's easier to focus on the characters in that version. My opinion. But my true answer is both images are looking fabulous! good luck with the decision! ;)

04 April 2005, 03:49 AM
Wow man great work and I have to say in all the ideas I've seen so far this one cries out Master & Servant. Really cool image, great work.

Hi kornel, just discovering your art, it's very impressive. The sky is awsome and the theme is great. I also saw your Baron paintings, very nice too.

Good luck for this one.:) :)

yeah thats awesome, cool,superlativ...

érdekes a játék a kép kompozíciójával.

intresting, that all kind of composition got different weight and mood. i can't choose from them.

that clouds...:buttrock:

kornel, i will keep my eyes on you

04 April 2005, 04:06 PM
Really excellent picture!
I think, you no need more objects, because you will lack the "deserted" feeling. Now I see that skeleton-like guys... and I feel the pain of the big travelling on this empty land!

05 May 2005, 09:24 PM (

Thierry2005, kacorkirály, Endi - thanks guys for those nice words!

Kornel every time I see your close ups, my jaw falls to the ground, you do amazing work. I saw you Baron M. before and I loved it (since I'm a big fan of the Baron) but this is just stunning, the lighting, the compo, the subject everything is just amazing. So all I'll add up is a last line:

05 May 2005, 12:04 PM

Here is the last sample before the last post...

I hope u like it.

best regards: Kornél

05 May 2005, 09:04 PM
Amen

Várom a végzetet.

peace, pete

05 May 2005, 09:33 PM
This is definitely among my favourites! It's really dramatic, and I appreciate the work you're putting into the details - keep it up! ;)

05 May 2005, 09:55 PM
Good luck.

05 May 2005, 06:36 AM
Pete: the final image 4200x3500px, yes you are right, i was scaled the background at the first time...
I will repaint those areas before the end... (i hope)

Mythmaker: thanks a lot!

Gdinnye: köszi, szeressük mi a amcsi naivokat (is)...

05 May 2005, 07:00 AM
Hi Kornel!

You're close ups are real csemege for the eyes! :) One question do you use the "scratchboard rake" pen in painter? That's one of my favourite "brushes". Anyway. Really nice detail!

05 May 2005, 02:48 PM
Good !

Very much it is pleasant to me! :)

05 May 2005, 11:47 AM
The concept reminds me of the Mao's Long March.

I think the sky is great, but it's a bit too detailed for the characters. I tend to look more at the sky then the actual story. Also the hills/rocks at the a bottom are a bit homogeneous.
Maybe a bit more highlights on the fat guys butt should balance the comp a bit more :)

Good luck, keep it up !

05 May 2005, 01:36 AM
Kornél, dude I'm looking for your image of the Baron with his companions and I can't find where it is only found the one on the canonball

By the way this image rocks but I said that before.:)

05 May 2005, 05:29 AM

05 May 2005, 05:45 PM

Entry shows nearly the exact meaning of exagerated "master and servant" theme. Colors are so neat. Image is bright and sad at the same time. Noticeable work here.

Best wishes.

06 June 2005, 11:37 AM
I didn't see your image before and is awesome, very very nice work, the colors, the ambient with the clouds and how you can feel the pain in the servants. I love your work.
